We have a discussion in the General forums about "should WoWwiki leave Wikia". I thought we really really should have working discussions on several topics, to prepare for such a move if we decide to do so.
This forum, then, is not for opinion, but for discussions of the technical aspects of gaining sufficient continuing funding for WoWwiki. ... or at least for establishing an alternate channel to have that kind of discussion.
IE, what people have looked into, how much revenue can be expected, how we would handle funding and maintenance (elect someone?). Also, to find out how much manpower Wikia currently spends maintaining us. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:33, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
Not to sound snide, but probably not that much is specifically for this wiki. I could be wrong though. On the other hand, I know a lot of people who hang around in IRC who are technically savvy who may or may not be willing to help out in their spare time. I know that I, for one, would love to help out wherever I can.
It would be nice to have documentation (to-do list?) on what has been done in terms of the move process. I've asked around and it seems things are being taken care of internally, but it would be nice for interested parties to have a general idea where the move is at, both to offer support in the process itself and to prepare themselves (because they might not be prepared ;-) for the move. --Brandon Andrews (talk) 17:22, October 19, 2010 (UTC)
- Basically all that we have left to work on is the skin. Everything else is go for launch - once everyone gets moved over there will be some cleanup (changing all the places where it says WoWWiki, poking broken stuff, helping people get settled) - but otherwise we're good. -- ( • ) 17:24, October 19, 2010 (UTC)
