Forums: Index WoWWiki technical Search FAIL

Not very long ago (at least comparably) I started noticing that if I entered a page name that didn't exist, I would be automatically redirected to a search page. If this is implemented in javascript, this behavior could have been hidden from me for some time as I usually browse with JavaScript turned off.

This afternoon, I discovered an unfortunate side effect: there seems to be no preference option to disable the feature.

I entered a search term and got page hits that looked useful. I clicked on one and found myself staring at the search page again.

It turns out that a page by that name had been deleted. Currently, the "there was a page by this name, but it is gone" pops up, and is almost immediately followed by the page reloading as a search page. (With JavaScript enabled) I am thus unable to read the deletion history. I find this disconcerting.

Good point, I'll figure something out. You can mash "ESC" (or whatever "Stop navigation" is mapped to in your browser) for the time being. --PcjWoWWiki admin (TDrop me a line!C58,926 contributions and counting) 23:15, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
Should be fixed for the search entry point. --PcjWoWWiki admin (TDrop me a line!C58,926 contributions and counting) 23:20, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
Thankee. Did discover that it is, yes, javascripted. Disabling javascript works too, though I don't think everyone would feel the same way. Smiley. I'll take it for a spin later today and see what comes of it. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:55, April 9, 2010 (UTC)
