Hey everyone ^^
Ok, so it may seem like a stupid question... but why are there 2 sets of level60 PVP gear? I know the obvious: That one set is epic and has higher ilvl, and the rare set is cheaper. But not by much. Am I missing something here?
Epic set
Rare set
The Epic set seems better for a combat rogue, and the Rare for assassination. So, is there a particular reason? I mean, why would they give you 2 sets to choose from when there isn't a great deal of difference and the price in honour points isn't that huge?
- This is sort of a historical thing with WoW. When a rare and epic set comes out for the current level cap, it is usually very hard to get and the difference how to get and the stats between the two is much greater. However, as the level cap increases and old sets get left behind, Blizzard tends to make them easier to get and narrow the difference between the stats. Since you're looking at the level 60 gear, that was from a long time ago when the level cap was level 60 (basically vanilla WoW). Also, since Blizzard seems to be constantly tinkering with game mechanics, they really only have time to focus on gear closer to the current level cap, so old gear can range from really over-powered for items of that level to totally crappy and confusing with bizarre itemization and stat numbers.
- Unless you plan to level 60 twink or not ever get any expansions, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Also, since the costs are so close, unless you can find a really good reason to have the rare set, you might as well go for the epic set. Or, just don't worry about your gear so much until you get closer to whatever the level cap is for the expansion you plan to buy. -- (talk · contr) 17 Feb 2011 7:19 PM Pacific
- The honor system prior to 2.0 was based on a weekly count of honor points. You were competing against the entire realm. The more honor points, the higher ranked you were on the realm and hence the higher actual rank you obtained. There were 14 ranks.
- The blue pvp gear at 60 was available to rank 7-rank 9, and the purples were ranks 11-13, with rank 14 granting you purple weapons. --Sky (talk) 03:17, February 19, 2011 (UTC)
