Forums: Index WoWWiki policy Attribution

It looks like there needs to be a discussion on the correct way to attribute Wowpedia if content is taken from there. On many wikis, the format that's used for articles using Wikipedia content is:

This page uses [[Creative Commons Licensed]] content from [[Wikipedia]] ([view authors]).

The links go to a page about the license, the wikipedia article, and the article's history page.

There's some discussion about this on Talk:Tripping the Rifts, but a more general decision on the right format seems wise. What's been past practice here? --Sannse@fandom (help forum | blog) 01:23, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

I made the {{Attribution}} tag, because no one else seemed to be doing anything as per WW:BOLD. Feel free to edit or rework the template as you see fit, assuming it preserves the intent and the purpose of the template.
As for past practice, WoWWiki has never had a competitor like Wowpedia, so there is no precedent. Also, the community of WoWWiki is diminished to say the least. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 9:45 PM PST 12 Nov 2010
Be nice if we could have a conversation that didn't have thinly veiled attacks written in them. The template Fan made is good, but should be at the bottom of the page, not the top. It doesn't need to take away from the information, and since most references are at the bottom of pages anyway, its standard. HooperBandP (talk) 00:48, November 14, 2010 (UTC)
I disagree; a notice that attribution is missing should go at the top, not the bottom. The attribution itself can go at the bottom, however, in the manner of other references. --Kris talk 03:06, November 14, 2010 (UTC)
That is what I meant, sorry. The end-result should be attribution at the bottom of the page, perhaps near References. HooperBandP (talk) 04:29, November 14, 2010 (UTC)
Sounds right... a notice for "missing attribution" at the top, then the corrected article should have the attribution at the bottom. And it looks like the format above fits with Wowpedia's new policy [1], so this should work well. I've added the attribution to the article I mentioned above -- Sannse@fandom (help forum | blog) 02:25, November 16, 2010 (UTC)
