Flasks created with Alchemy are a type of elixir. Some non-drinkable flasks are quest items or ingredients used in other professions, such as Engineering and Leatherworking. Some flask recipes may be purchased from various faction vendors and then traded to another character, however they will not be able to learn the recipe without also having the required faction.

User-ss

Flasks count as both a Battle Elixir and a Guardian Elixir, so characters can only have the effect of one flask at a time, and it prevents them from having other elixir effects, cooldown is 3 seconds, and except for Common, all have a duration of 2 hours. These flasks are created by Alchemists, and require an Alchemy Lab. Alchemy Labs are located in Shattrath City, in Scholomance near Ras Frostwhisper and in Blackwing Lair past Broodlord Lashlayer. Flasks are different from potions and elixirs in that their effects do not disappear upon death and cannot be dispelled.

Flasks benefit from the Elixir Specialization.

Additional info:

* Elixir - Similar to potions with differing effects that have mostly longer durations.

* Potion - Similar to elixirs with differing effects that are mostly instantaneous or have short durations.

Removed Flasks
These flasks were removed from the game in Patch 2.2.0. New flasks were put in their place, and alchemists who discovered these flasks' recipes prior to Patch 2.2.0 had them converted to the new recipes.

Unstable Flasks
These flasks are purchased with Apexis Shards from either the Crystalforges or the Aether-tech Assistant. Their effects only work in the Blade's Edge Mountains plateaus and in Gruul's Lair. They cannot be made by alchemists.

Shattrath Flasks
These flasks are available for purchase with Marks of the Illidari from Aldor or Scryers vendors. The marks are dropped from the raid instances Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, Black Temple and Battle of Mount Hyjal. The flasks can be used only in these four raid instances as well.

NOTE: Pure Death and Blinding Light were added with 2.4 patch.
