Overview

We'll pretend those people in the icon are BAD people.

Flamestrike is a GTAoE spell that deals damage on initial casting, then every few seconds if targets remain in the area (a sort of ground-based DoT).

Functionality

Use

  • Casting: 3 Second Cast
  • School: Template:Fire
  • Target: All Enemies in a 3 Yard radius
  • Range: 30 Yards
  • Duration: 8 Second DoT
  • Cooldown: N/A

Talents

Notes

  • The DoT affect only damages those who stay within the area. The ground gives off a "pulse" of additional fire damage that burns all standing above the effect. Those that wander out suffer no additional damage, and those that you missed on the initial casting take damage if they later wander into the spell's area of effect. The borders of the effect are very clear; the ground is laced with veins of red hot energy.

Rank Table

Rank Level Mana Description Cost
1 16 195 Deals 52-68 then burns the area for a total of 48 damage. 15
2 24 330 Deals 96-122 then burns the area for a total of 88 damage. 40
3 32 490 Deals 154-192 then burns the area for a total of 140 damage. 1
4 40 650 Deals 220-272 then burns the area for a total of 196 damage. 150
5 48 815 Deals 291-359 then burns the area for a total of 264 damage. 280
6 56 990 Deals 375-459 then burns the area for a total of 340 damage. 380

Tips and Tactics

  • It's difficult to have a situation where targets stay in the affected area, since they usually get mad at you and run out of the area to let you know how they feel about massive fire damage. To get the full DoT effect (which is almost half of the spell's total damage) you'll need to cast this spell and then run into the pack of things you just angered.
    • This sounds suicidal, but is a common tactic. Mages with Spell nature wispsplode [Improved Arcane Explosion] and Spell holy excorcism 02 [Blast Wave] are very very nasty up close.
    • Another possiblity is to snare or root your targets somehow. You might think that Spell frost frostnova [Frost Nova] would help here, but since its rooting effect has a chance to break when the target takes damage, it isn't perfect.
