A guide to the emblem system
Emblem of Frost is a new currency which was introduced with patch 3.3.0. It is used to purchase ilvl 251 and 264 items.
Sources
Emblems of Frost drop from bosses in Icecrown Citadel as well as Toravon the Ice Watcher in Vault of Archavon. Each of these bosses drop 2 Emblems of Frost, for a total of 26 emblems each from bosses for 10- and 25-man raids. Sister Svalna in Icecrown Citadel also drops one emblem, and the Icecrown Citadel weekly raid quest reward 
[Sack of Frosty Treasures] contains 5 further emblems. This gives a total of 64 possible emblems per week from raids.
- 6x Emblem of Frost are rewarded from the Inside the Frozen Citadel (Alliance) / (Horde) quest chain.
- 5x Emblem of Frost (and 5x [Emblem of Triumph]) are rewarded for completing weekly raid quests (similar to the previous daily heroic dungeon system, but once a week). This weekly raid quest is separate to the Icecrown Citadel raid quests that give the
[Sack of Frosty Treasures], and both can be completed each week. - 2x Emblem of Frost are rewarded for completing the first random Heroic Level 80, once per day, using the Dungeon Finder system, also introduced in patch 3.3.0.

Purchasable rewards
Tier 10 Set Pieces
- Main article: Tier 10
- Tier 10 set pieces, sometimes called the "Emblem" version, are purchasable using Emblems of Frost from class vendors.
- The normal version of tier 10.5 set pieces, sometimes called the "Sanctified" version or "Tier 10.264", can be bought as an upgrade from the class vendors if you have the tier 10 "Emblem" version. Tier pieces are upgraded by using a token from the 25-man version of Icecrown Citadel, called Mark of Sanctification.
- The heroic version of tier 10.5 set pieces, sometimes called the "Heroic Sanctified" version or "Tier 10.277", can be bought as an upgrade from the class vendors if you have the normal tier 10.5 "Sanctified" version. Tier pieces are upgraded by using the heroic version of the token from Icecrown Citadel: Mark of Sanctification (heroic).

Tier 10 armor vendors
Tier 10 armor for each class is currently sold in two locations: in Dalaran, by a vendor for that type (plate, cloth, etc) of armor, and in Icecrown Citadel, by a different vendor for each class.
