It only affects melee and ranged physical damage, not spell damage.
In Patch 2.3, this spell was heavily modified. It now has only one rank of the spell, its cooldown is decreased to 3 minutes from 5 minutes, and it reduces the chance to be hit by melee and ranged attacks by 20% for 15 seconds.
