These birds of prey inhabit nearly every terrain and climate, though they all prefer high, secluded nesting spots. A typical eagle is about 3 feet long and has a wingspan of about 7 feet. They are diurnal birds of prey. Eagles dive at prey, raking with their powerful talons.Template:Cite While the smaller eagles are more common a much larger variety exists as well, known as a "giant eagle".

Species

  • Giant Eagle

Giant eagles live on Azeroth and the Emerald DreamTemplate:Cite. These magnificent birds roam the wide planes of the human lands, feasting on occasional horse or cow as their natural food supply diminishes. Many human animal trainers offer bounties on giant eagle chicks, hoping to train them as steeds or beasts of burden. Although no such "hatcheries" exist, there have been a few successful attempts -- which only makes the trainers more eager to capture the young beasts. Giant eagles do not breed in captivity, so capturing the hatchlings is the only way to get these creatures for training.Template:Cite They can be summoned by druids as nature's allies.Template:Cite

  • Corrupted Giant Eagle

Dire Eagles that have been mutated into Corrupted Ones by the Nightmare in the Emerald Dream.Template:Cite

  • Dire Eagle
