Demon hunters, disciples of Illidan Stormrage, uphold a dark legacy, one that frightens their allies and enemies alike. The Illidari embrace fel and chaotic magics—energies that have long threatened the world of Azeroth—believing them necessary to challenge the Burning Legion. Wielding the powers of demons they’ve slain, they develop demonic features that incite revulsion and dread in fellow elves.
When the night elf Illidan discovered that the eredar warlocks of the Burning Legion have the ability to raise the dead, he found himself admiring the audacity of the demons for the first time. The demon's spellcasters allowed no limits to their imagination. They worked to create whatever their abilities allowed, the better to gain their ultimate goal. While the goal itself was not to be admired, the efforts of the warlocks surely were. After he expressed his desire to capture one of the eredar warlocks, his patron lord Ravencrest quickly told Illidan that he expected them to be slain on sight and so Illidan quickly smothered any hint of his esteem for the warlocks, but his mind was awhirl with thoughts concerning what he had just learned. He questioned, how better to defeat an enemy than to learn their strengths and add them to your own arsenal? With such skills added to those which he had already picked up, Illidan believed he would be nearly capable of crushing the demons by himself.
A Trip to Zin-Azshari Edit
Driven by his thirst for power and his conviction that the Burning Legion must be destroyed at any cost, the night elf Illidan Stormrage temporarily sided with the Legion during the War of the Ancients. He studied the demons' spellcasting for a time, then rejoined Azeroth's defenders and used his new knowledge to defeat the invaders.
