Children's Week | |
---|---|
Duration | May 2nd - May 8th |
Highlights | Sightseeing, Hilarious gossip text |
Other events | |
Preceded by | Noblegarden |
Followed by | Midsummer Fire Festival |
Children's Week, also known as Week of the Wardens[1], is celebrated by both the Horde and Alliance in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. At the beginning of May, and lasting for a week, it is a time for heroes of both sides to give back to the innocents of war...the orphans!
Children's Week is also held for both factions in Shattrath City and Dalaran for higher level characters.
Many Azerothian holidays are based off real-life counterparts. Children's Week generally occurs in early May, and is likely based off of Japan's Children's Day which is held on May 5th.
Northrend's Children Week was added in patch 3.2.

Dalaran
Introduced in patch 3.2.0, Northrend Children's Week is based in Dalaran. To alert players that the new quests are temporarily active (as Children's Week is usually much earlier in the year), the following urgent action bulletin is mailed to all players from Orphan Matron Aria:
The orphans of Northrend need your help. For less than the cost of a cup of [Kungaloosh], you can sponsor an unfortunate orphan like little Roo or Kekek. Simply contact Orphan Matron Aria in Dalaran. You can make all the difference in the life of a young oracle or wolvar. Act now!
- Oracles quest chain

Start | Orphan Matron Aria |
End | Oracle Orphan |
Level | 10-70 |

- Speak to Orphan Matron Aria
- [Oracle Orphan Whistle] (provided)
Description
The orphans have been looking forward to the opportunity to meet friends like you, <name>. It's wonderful that you've agreed to take one into your care.
Take this whistle. With it, you will be able to call for the orphan you have agreed to sponsor. It will only last for a limited time - not much longer than Children's Week itself, in fact.
Please, <name>, call upon your orphan. He will be excited to meet you and see the sites of Northrend with you.
Progres
You taking care of us?
Completion
You take us away from puppy-men hatchlings? Good. We like you already. Mean puppy-men hatchlings took all our favorite toys away.
Notes
Accept the quest, then speak to Aria again to complete the quest.
- The Lich King's cruel reign has inflicted great suffering on all of Northrend's inhabitants, particularly the children. If you are friend to the Oracles or Frenzyheart Tribe of Sholazar, perhaps you might consider caring for an orphan for a week.
Ask about the orphans.
- The orphans we have taken in come from war torn Sholazar Basin. You can choose to care for either an orphaned Oracle hatchling or a Frenzyheart pup. Either will be happy to make a new friend, but you will only be able to care for one of them.

Notes
- This quest set is extremely easy, considering the amount of reputation you receive.
- The Outland and Azeroth quests are separate from each other, and both can be completed in the given week.
- [Papa Hummel's Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuit] is usable on the orphans.
- In order to complete the achievements after finishing the quest chains, you will need to ask the matron for another whistle.
- The whistles will last for seven days, after which they will disappear. Although the achievements only specify needing your orphan out to complete the criteria, you will only be able to earn credit for them during the event.
Patch changes
- Patch 3.2.0 (2009-08-04): Wolvar and Gorloc orphans have arrived in Dalaran and need your help! Players can find out more by visiting the Eventide District (completing the quests being offered for this event will not count toward any Children's Week achievements). Players have a limited amount of time to care for these orphans before they take their leave. They will then return again for the regularly-scheduled Children's Week next year.
