A bomb is a type of explosive only Engineers can use or craft that produces a Ground Targeted Area of Effect. Like Grenades and Mortars, bombs typically have a secondary effect (stun, silence) as well as damage. They cannot be used while moving. When bombs are used, a green targetting symbol appears on the ground that can be moved around. The targeting symbol becomes a red 'no' symbol when moved out of range. After acquiring a valid target, click to throw the bomb. The table below summarizes the variety of bombs available to Engineers; skill required and effects. The secondary effect is noted as unreliable above a certain level (the level limit, below).

Bombs

The acid bomb, beehive bomb, boomshell, gas bomb and sunstone.

Acid bomb[]

An acid bomb is a glass sphere filled with caustic acid that splashes over a wide area upon impact. Notoriously fragile, the shock of launch sometimes causes the aced bomb to shatter and splash over the crew attempting to fire it.[1]

Beehive bomb[]

A beehive bomb is a cubic, wooden framework surrounding a thin shell of waxed clay filled with gunpowder and iron caltrops. A timed fuse lit just before the bomb is launched at its target ignites the beehive bomb, causing an explosion that hurls the sharp clatrop "bees" at targets in all directions.[1]

Boomshell[]

Tinkers oftenf fret when they discover much gunpowder is loaded into a boomshell. Boomshells are so large that they often have wheels and handles attached to their shells to allow them to be asily maneuvered into place. The detonation of the gunpowder on impact not only does massive damage to whatever it strikes, but deafens any creature within its splash.[1]

Gas bomb[]

A gas bomb is created by loading a clay container with powdered lime, rotten eggs, and a sickening brew of other ingredients that explode in a foul-smelling cloud upon impact. like acid bombs, the shell of gas bombs are known to shatter while being launched, sending siege weapon crews fleeing from their own weapon.[2]

Sunstone[]

Sunstones were created to cheaply incapacitate as many opponents as possible. The thick clay shell of a sunstone usually survives impact, only burst seconds later when its times fuse ignites a charge of gunpowder and a large amount of phosphorus that burns so brightly that all within its splash radius are blinded.[3]
