Notes

Blood Pact can be set to auto-cast, although the auto-cast function behaves more like an on/off switch, since this ability is an aura, rather than a standard spell.

The spell (prior to patch 3.0.2) was similar to the Priest buff Spell holy wordfortitude [Power Word: Fortitude] as they both increased a unit's Stamina. Now the two spells function differently in this regard.

Unlike Spell holy wordfortitude [Power Word: Fortitude], this effect can not be dispelled except by slaying the imp.

Talent improvement

Blood Pact is affected by the Demonology talent Spell shadow summonimp [Improved Imp], which increases its effectiveness by as much as 30%.

Tips and tactics

Tanks usually appreciate having extra health, making the Imp a welcome addition to the tank's party. In raids, a warlock may be assigned to the main tank's group to provide such support. It's a fairly common occurrence in raids to have a Phase Shifted Imp standing next to the main tank, as the increase to their hit points is incredibly useful. As the buff does not stack, an Imp would not be as useful in the presence of another allied Imp.

The effectiveness of Blood Pact increases as the number of units in the Imp's party increases as well, since they all receive the same buff. In the best case scenario, ten units (five pet users and their pets) will receive the buff.

Careful positioning can maximize the area covered by the relatively small 20-yard radius of the aura.

Known bugs

A bug in the game currently prevents the tooltip from reflecting the correct Stamina bonus when Improved Imp is in effect. The correct bonus is being applied; only the tooltip is affected by this bug.

After patch 3.0.2, a new bug causes Blood Pact to grant far less extra health than is displayed in the tooltip. It is unknown whether the spell's effect will be changed to reflect the tooltip, or the tooltip changed to reflect the spell's effect.
