A Baby Blizzard Bear is a baby polar bear battle pet, which was sent to all World of Warcraft players who logged into the game on November 23, 2008 to celebrate Money achievement WoW's 4th Anniversary. It is likely that a polar bear was chosen to also celebrate WoW's foray into the live Wrath of the Lich King content.

Accompanying letter

Those who signed on during the anniversary received an in-game mail from The WoW Dev Team:

WoW's 4th Anniversary!

Did you know that the World of Warcraft is now four years old?

We wanted to send you something to say thanks for sharing this game with us. Sure, the 4th anniversary present is traditionally "flowers"... but in WoW, it's "bear".

With that said, please accept this furry little friend! Just remember to hold his fish by the tail, not the body... that mouth is bigger than it looks.

Some players incorrectly use the term BoA instead of BtA to match BoP and BoE.

Account-bound items can be mailed to any character that shares the same account and server. Since Patch 3.3.0, account-bound items can be mailed to characters of opposing faction.

As of patch 4.1, account-bound items can be mailed from characters attached to different World of Warcraft accounts if they are under the same account and on the same realm. Also, faction-specific items will be translated to the faction equivalent, if changing factions.

"BoAs" as some people call them can be bought from many rep. vendors, including bought from points in Dalaran and Honor points in Wintergrasp

Patch changes

  • Cataclysm-Logo-Small Patch 4.1.0 (26-Apr-2011): Renamed "Binds to account" on in-game tooltip and items can be mailed between accounts that share same account and are on the same realm.
  • Bc icon/Wrath-Logo-Small Patch 3.0.2 (14-Oct-2008): Added.
