File name standardization schema

Gourra:

Several months ago, you advised me to be more specific in file names when uploading, yet today, you truncate the filename back down to what I was using before.

Please advise what standardization you want to use on this website, and where to locate such standardization guidelines so that I may use them for future uploads.

Ariule (talk)

I believe that describing the background and the race of the character is a bit too much
Just naming the file like the item (eventually followed numbers if we use multiple screens) seems fair enough.

When I was doing just the item name a year ago, I was informed that it was not enough, especially when other items of kit were in the image. In addition, several images were deleted due to the thought that I was using an offline image editor. Does WoWWiki have a file name standards page that people can follow? It would be helpful if there was.
Ariule (talk)
Provide the item names and I might remember them. --g0urra[T҂C] 23:55, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
I am unconcerned with the past file names, I am wishing to set a standard for moving forward.
Ariule (talk)
As A'noob said, naming the file like the item is enough. --g0urra[T҂C] 00:29, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
If I remember correctly, cause this has been a while... you were first naming them something like staff and dagger, very generic names like that. Then you were asked to be more precise with the names, which is why you starting naming them very precise names. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! Re: Your edit summary comment

As you said: A music video about gold farmers doesn't count.

... ... ...

[citation needed] --ENG (talk) 13:43, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

If you don't consider that a music video, then I don't know what to say. --g0urra[T҂C] 13:47, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
I mean about the part that it doesn't count. --ENG (talk) 13:58, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
A music video that jokes about gold farmers doesn't count as research about the subject. If you have a video about someone who has researched about the subject then go ahead, but a music video is not proper. --g0urra[T҂C] 14:02, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Rearranged many parts of the gold farming page, added some links to researcher sources. Still needs work. No comment on applicability of "music video" about gold farmers, though apparently Ge Jin has made documentary video (which I did not link to, but which may be available through the links I did add. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:54, August 31, 2010 (UTC)

Dustwallow March

Tell me what you think about it.

Non-Enchanting Enchant Tooltip Syntax

While Enchantments with the type "Enchant", such as [Enchant Weapon - Icebreaker], display a proper tooltip when moused over, Enchants of all other professions (properly following nearly the same syntax on the Embroid template) display only "no tooltip" error on mouseover. So, Leatherworking's [Fur Lining - Stamina] or Blacksmithing's [Socket Bracer] generate no tooltip, although their template syntax seems to be correct.

Is there a different term or syntax on either the link or item page to make the mouseover tooltips display properly? I can't seem to find a recipe listing page where the Embroid type of tooltip works correctly. Thanks! Joeartguy (talk) 21:00, September 2, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Pcj is the guy'd want to talk with about this. --g0urra[T҂C] 21:06, September 2, 2010 (UTC)
And it's surreptitiously begun working again, apparently, as you can see in this very section... so hurrah and never mind. Joeartguy (talk) 21:41, September 2, 2010 (UTC)

Here's the full list of wanted categories, which probably contains many more errors. --Elassint 19:12, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

You are probably on the login screen. Have you typed in your account information to log in to the game? --g0urra[T҂C] 16:08, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Click the "Edit" link at this section to reply to this easier. Where did you get the game client? --g0urra[T҂C] 16:23, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

New wowwiki layout

Has the layout for Wowwiki changed or am I going crazy? --User:ShandrisForever 15:05, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Probably just you ;) They are making some tweaks for the oncoming new version of the Wiki skins though, so things may move around a little. -=- IconSmall DrakeAzure Drazisil [t/c] 15:16, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
It has changed for those who use Monobook. Apparently all skins default to Monaco right now. Let's hope it's just a hiccup. --g0urra[T҂C] 15:30, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
I hope so, I feel so lost with this skin, can't even find my Watchlist!

"The" Deadmines

In light of the request on the to-do page to move all of the pages that were in Category:Deadmines to Category:The Deadmines, do you think the actual pages for Deadmines and Deadmines (original) should be moved/renamed to follow this standard?  gilmoreja—You've got to start what you finish—Talk!on!—You've got to start what you finish—Sareine talks—You've got to start what you finish— 16:10, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

No, articles will not use "The" as first. For example see Barrens and Category:The Barrens quests. --g0urra[T҂C] 16:20, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Template:USERNAME

I was wondering what javascript you've got running (and where it is located) that allows the Template:USERNAME to work properly? HooperBandP (talk) 18:59, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

It's in MediaWiki:Common.js: if (wgUserName != null) $("span.insertusername").html(wgUserName); --g0urra[T҂C] 19:16, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Frost Strike

Hi, with 4.0.1 about to go live, Frost Strike will become an innate benefit of choosing the Frost tree. You're a little bit late at adding it to Category:Death knight talents. Removed; please understand. :P Sarvam (talk) 07:24, October 12, 2010 (UTC)

It's still talented since you need to choose a talent to get it. Having an ability only in its class' ability category would imply that it's not talented. --g0urra[T҂C] 07:39, October 12, 2010 (UTC)

Fishy User

I recently undid a change on the Server: Kil'jaeden US page... Someone uploaded and posted an inappropriate picture there, and I thought you would be best to deal with it... Also, for future reference, what should I do when I notice something like that, other than jumping on the nearest admin's talk page who may or may not be online? Tanooki1432 (talk) 21:58, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

I deleted the offending image. If you see any more vandalism, you could join the #wowpedia IRC channel and alert any admins about it. --g0urra[T҂C] 22:02, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
