Big Shirl is a Level 83 | Elite | Orca that appears in Howling Fjord.
A specifically large Orca, she will spawn in the south-east corner of Howling Fjord when somebody takes the Alliance Flight Path from Valgarde to the Explorer's League Outpost. She is generally thought by players to be something to look at on the way- much like the likes of Shatterspear Village and the Dun Morogh airfield, because although she is shown as Aggressive, she will not attack you and she herself is unattackable. The other reason is Big Shirl's extraordinarily large HP.
When the player taking the Flight Path starts to pass the sea, Big Shirl will follow him/her along the way. She will despawn shortly after the player's mount starts heading back towards the land.
While the only confirmed way for her to spawn is for a player to take the Flight Path, players have reported seeing her spawn right next to them south of the Explorer's League Outpost. However, this could have just been a coincidence, the incident triggered by someone beginning the Flight Path.
