In his childhood, Baros lived and worked on the Alexston Farmstead in Westfall. Later his family's home was burned down and taken over by thieves. Baros' father was unable to save all their possessions, so he hid them away on the farm.
Baros Alexston became member of the Stonemasons Guild. He worked with , and their main project was to rebuild Stormwind after the War. Through years of work, the Guild completed the rebuilding of Stormwind. At that time, Edwin VanCleef had been elected Guildmaster of the Stonemasons, and spoke out, demanding restitution for their works. In response, the Stormwind House of Nobles ordered the Stonemasons' Guild disbanded. Leading a riot, VanCleef led the Stonemasons out of the city. It was at this time that Alexston was offered the position of city architect if he did not join with VanCleef. Because of certain ideological differences, Alexston chose to remain in Stormwind.

Baros Alexston plays a pivotal role for Alliance players in Warlords of Draenor. Shortly after the player arrives at Lunarfall, Alexston comes from Stormwind via portal, along with several workers and a shipment of building supplies. Players complete quests throughout their time in Shadowmoon Valley for Alexston, gradually building up their garrison under his supervision.
In a later garrison campaign, Baros Alexston confesses his love for Lieutenant Thorn to the player and sends them on a quest to collect a rose so he can give it to her. When the player returns to the Garrison, they discover Alexston was killed during the invasion. Afterwards, Assistant Brightstone takes over his position and Thorn remains in Worgen form, the rose sitting at the front of her desk.
