A small, fast, maiming melee kill-machine that's the main disposable unit of the Zerg in Starcraft. It found its way into WoW as a Collector's Edition "vanity" pet, summoned with a 
[Zergling Leash], and in WarCraft III as an inside joke (along with the Hydralisk, Marine, and Space Fel Orc) in the World Editor (frequently finding their way into many user-made maps).
The Warcraft and Starcraft worlds may or may not be connected in any way. Like the Mini Diablo, the zergling's inclusion in WoW should not be considered canon(though a quest for getting the pet does exist in the game), unless otherwise specified by Blizzard.
