South Seas Island
The most southern isle
The islands in question, the South Seas islands, consists of two islands only described as "an island within the South Seas" during a quest in World of Warcraft. The island is southeast of Land's End Beach in Tanaris.
Although not drawn on the world map or the map of Tanaris, they are clearly visible from Land's End Beach. These islands are separated from the mainland by deep water. It is impossible to get to these islands without a special ability or additional help, as fatigue would kill the player before reaching shallow water.
The two islands are geographically similar. One of the islands is populated by Fire Rocs, hyenas, scorpions, as well as Southsea Pirates. On the second island is a mound of wood and shovels, possibly denoting a buried treasure. It also contains a number of uninhabited Gnomish and Goblin structures and an abandoned goblin oil rig between the two islands.
Quests
These islands are involved in the quest 
[60] Draconic for Dummies for acquiring the [Scepter of the Shifting Sands]. People with the Ahn'Qiraj quest will be able to get an optional quest named [60] Love Song for Narain from Meridith the Mermaiden. After completing this quest, Meridith will grant the player a swim speed buff.
Alternatively, a player can reach the island by using a combination of [Swim Speed Potion], 
[Water Walking], 
[Levitate], 
[Aquatic Form], 
[Reincarnation], 
[Soulstone], 
[Blink], 
[Divine Shield], 
[Path of Frost], and [Hook of the Master Angler]. It is also possible to heal through the fatigue to reach these islands.
You need to go at approximately 120% walk speed (or 180% swim speed) to arrive without (or just barely) taking damage.
Before Ahn'Qiraj

Until the release of Ahn'Qiraj, these islands were deserted and only had a [Message in a Bottle] on the island closer to the mainland. The message read, "What are you doing [sic] here?". The bottle has, since patch 1.8, been removed; however, its shadow is still there. The Goblin and Gnomish structures have been added in patch 2.0.
In Cataclysm
These islands are now gone, whether they sunk or were just removed.
