Potent Fire Opal drops from bosses in the Auchenai Crypts and Hellfire Ramparts on Heroic mode.

Patch changes

Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Now gives Intellect instead of Spell Power. Now also drops from Hellfire Ramparts.
Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Hit Rating, Critical Strike Rating, and Haste Rating now modify both melee attacks and spells.
Patch 2.4.0 (2008-03-25): Gems obtained through Heroic difficulty instances are no longer Unique-Equipped.
