Engineering guides on WoWWiki?

Heya, if you'd be interested in moving the original of your engi guide to WoWWiki, I have a script for quickly converting wikitext to blizzard forum markup so you can keep re-posting to the forum. It's already being used for the UI FAQ.   --Mikk (T) 09:42, 21 September 2006 (EDT)

Now that sounds nice :-) Why not! Though.. I'm not that good at scripts >_> I might need to look at that for a while :p --Tinkerer (talk · contr) 09:36, 21 September 2006

Welcome

Welcome to WoWWiki!
As you already have, we hope you can continue to help the community and vice versa :-)
If you have any questions, someone will gladly answer them.
We just wanted to say welcome, and to encourage you to continue contributing!

Finding things to do

The things to do category has them all!

Want to help more? Join a team!

As a community it is easier to get large amounts of maintenance and community projects done in teams - we like to encourage each wiki-user (also known as WoWWikians) to join one or two. Check out Community teams for more info!

Want to participate? Vote!

WoWWiki isn't an absolute democracy, but many decisions are voted on. Also, we encourage members to vote on site policies. See a list of votes in progress or a list of policy proposals.

Welcome to the NP Patrol!

Read the NP Patrol tasks to begin with, but I don't enforce anything definite on how we review new pages. It's all good.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions. You can put them on my talk page, your talk page, or the NP Patrol Discussion page

Naxxramas

Are you certain the Hydraxian Waterlords have made available several armor patterns that provide considerable frost resistance? If so, considering expanding the rewards section for Hydraxian Waterlords. Umbra 16:29, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

I remember multiple websites pre 1.11 release saying that the hydraxian waterlords would offer certain patterns for FrR armor, but I think its been replaced by drops within naxxramas and the questline for the few armor pieces the NPC at LHC offers --Adys 19:53, 2 October 2006 (EDT)
Oh, that's my bad then. Will remove it if that hasn't been done already. Sorry for the... inconvenience. --Tinkerer 10:19, 3 October 2006 (EDT)

Tazdingbo & Denseldes

Hi Tink.

I am just creating 2 biographies at the moment. One for Taz, My primary horde Char, and Persis, my primary Alliance Char.

Drinlana Denselde and Siji Denselde are two characters owned by another player.

Hope that clears everything up

Yes, it does. Thanks. Very nice biographies by the way ;) --Tinkerer 15:02, 6 October 2006 (EDT)

"The Escape" quest

Allakhazam, WoWHead, and Goblin Workshop all say The Escape quest in the Barrens is a Horde quest. Thottbot doesn't say one way or the other.

There is a completely different Alliance quest called The Escape in Elwynn Forest. Thott, Alla, WH, and GW all say this is an Alliance quest.

I'm almost positive that the Barrens version of "The Escape" is Horde only. I'm also almost positive that one side cannot have 2 different quests with the exact same name.

What do you think? - ClydeJr 11:58, 20 October 2006 (EDT)

I am one hundred percent sure I've done this quest on a lot of my Alliance characters. Will check it for you if you want, but believe me, the quest is neutral. Sites list it as Horde since it's in a Horde-ish zone and thus done by many more Horde people than Alliance. --Tinkerer 11:59, 20 October 2006 (EDT)

New death knight found in Warcraft III: the Frozen Throne

Today I played again Warcraft III: the Frozen Throne because I would wrote the article about the second death knight in the last mission of the Sentinel campaign, "the Stormrage brothers". His name was...Baron Perenolde!!!! What do we do now? N'Nanz 13:00, 22 October 2006

http://www.wowwiki.com/Baron_Perenolde I think that clears it up :p --Tinkerer 09:03, 22 October 2006 (EDT)
No, it isn't a random name, he is in the campaign! Maybe would you say that the game randomizes the name assigned to minor hero characters in the campaign too? N'Nanz 13:13, 22 October 2006
Interesting.. He might be cpnnected to them then. --Tinkerer 09:46, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

Sørlys

Hey :-) Wanted to ask why you recreated the page Sørlys, since its been deleted in the past anyways, and made it a redirect to the only page linking it. --Adys 10:56, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Since a lot of pages (as seen on the wanted board) linked to it, so I figured I might as well redirect those people. --Tinkerer 11:00, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
[1] WoWWiki:RC/Content are recent changes by User:Mikkbot, WoWWiki:RC is the page linking its content, WoWWiki:Guild stubs/List are guild stubs by User:Watchoutbot, WoWWiki:Guild stubs is the page linking its content, Server:Balnazzar Europe is its server and User talk:Tinkerer is this very page :-P Eventually, 4 of these pages will loose their link in 24-48 hours. I made it a speedydelete, feel free to remove if you really think its needed :-) --Adys 12:52, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
Alrighty then, you win ;-) Should've checked the links. Will be more cautious in the future, thanks :) --Tinkerer 13:06, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Guild Stubs

FYI, I noticed a guild article you tagged for speedydelete for being stubbed for more than 30 days was only 1 day old. Hope it was the only one. --Gryphon 12:18, 1 November 2006 (EST)

Eep, alright. I guess it's the only one, though, as I tried to pay some attention to the history. Sorry again :( --Tinkerer 13:20, 1 November 2006 (EST)
I for one check the history for when it was tagged before zapping anything. I'd hope/assume other admins do the same.   --Mikk (T) 17:47, 1 November 2006 (EST)
Urgh :( Now you made me never do this again.. Meh, I was SURE everything was fine tagged, but it seems it wasn't! *walks against a wall* --Tinkerer 02:38, 2 November 2006 (EST)
Huhwah? Noone's going to shoot you for accidentally speedy tagging something once in a blue moon. We're expected to double check. That's also why admins normally don't zap stuff themselves but rather speedy tag it and let another admin double check.   --Mikk (T) 10:42, 2 November 2006 (EST)
You want me to check things now? :P In all seriousness, Mikk tells the truth - we recheck any speedydeletes ... so don't feel we're angry at you, it happens :) -- Kirkburn (talk) 11:31, 2 November 2006 (EST)
*brushes the remainders of the wall of his head* Ah, yes, that'd be logical. Phew. --Tinkerer 12:01, 2 November 2006 (EST)

Tier 5

Just wondering why i couldn't put up the T5 pics??--SuperShammy 11:08, 20 November 2006 (EST)

Because they are hacked and/or datamined. We don't want issues with Blizzard :) --Tinkerer 11:11, 20 November 2006 (EST)
So they aren't availible in the beta yet? Thought something was wrong with the level 1 characters. User:Bull3t/Signature11:12, 20 November 2006 (EST)
Ohh, sorry about that. didnt know they were datamined. you should take'em off the Village Pump page becuse i also put them on thier.--SuperShammy 11:14, 20 November 2006 (EST)

Stalkage

Haha, you're stalking me. Apologies, I should be more judicious about actually using the stub template. Duly noted.--Hobinheim 14:16, 21 November 2006 (EST)

I should reroll rogue, really ;p --Tinkerer 14:16, 21 November 2006 (EST)

Permission to use table

Hello Tinkerer, I found your user page more or less by accident and was so inspired by your character table that I decided to finally create my own user page and add that table. I know that usually permission is asked beforehand, but I'd like to request it after the fact anyway. :D --Grudgebearer, 15:57, 23 November 2006 (CET)

Oh, I don't mind. I stole it from someone else, who stole it from somewhere else, etc, everyone making edits to improve it along the way - so it's not totally mine. --Tinkerer 10:00, 23 November 2006 (EST)

Thumbnailing

In responce to what you said on my current discussion page:

I would love some help, after all there are some, what, 10,000+ articles with just NPCs (if that is correct)? [[{{PAGENAME}}]] could be alot better too, thanks. Maybe you could start on Trolls and work your way up, or something? Feel free to edit my current page and add complete/in progress or whatnot. We could be called the Thumnailers! Haha :D... Races

I'm a gnome. You can say enough about me as counterargument, anyway ;) --Tinkerer 10:32, 26 November 2006 (EST)
I would, but I find gnomes hilarious. I recall Blizzard's female gnome voice sample: "I apoligize profusely for any inconvienience my murderous rampage may have caused." She must have been a warlock.--Ragestorm 11:59, 26 November 2006 (EST)
/bambi eyes --Tinkerer 12:35, 26 November 2006 (EST)
But yeah, I don't like night elfs. Although I like Malfurion, Illidan and Staghelm, the rest seems a bit too goodyshoes to me.. That's usually something I don't like in characters. I like folks to have a weird twist, be a bit evil or eccentric, or even talk strange. Elves... Well, they're probably good at garden tending.. --Tinkerer 12:47, 26 November 2006 (EST)
Fair enough, though I tend to think that this is a problem with any game, where the main characters aren't developed enough as we'd like. Even Tyrande seems one-sided because people can't reconcile her WC3 appearance with her written version in WotA. The Kaldorei as a whole are supposed to have their unadulterated and savage side, but that rarely shows because of their relative popularity. Staghelm is the perfect cliché of Elven arrogance, so we love to hate him. --Ragestorm 13:00, 26 November 2006 (EST)
Indeed, and this character is visible att he Blood Elfs too, although it's more personal - they're incredibly metrosexual. Characters not being developed, though... There seem quite some of them, but again, some are great of character, which makes up for those. For example, I really like Brann Bronzebeard, Engineer "Spark" Overgrind, and Oralius as more wacky persons, but also Khadgar (very nicely developed in TBC), Tirion Fordring, Kel'Thuzad and Nexus-Prince Haramad. Still, all of those need a book/questline/previous game to make them stand out as such. --Tinkerer 13:11, 26 November 2006 (EST)

Dwarven Flying Machine

I don't know if you caught my note, but I removed the speedy delete notification from Dwarven Flying Machine article, because the unit does in fact exist. I even added somre more info about it from the RPG.Baggins 13:03, 26 November 2006 (EST)

Fair enough :-) Should've added a {{Source needed}}, I suppose. --Tinkerer 13:11, 26 November 2006 (EST)

Stormspire pics

Thanks for putting my Stormspire images on other pages instead of making them orphans, extremely appreciated! --Shandris 03:43, 4 December 2006 (EST)

Well, we can't have pics lying around randomly, can we ;-) Then again, they were very nice, but some of them were similar to what was already there.. So, well, I deducted that this would be the best way. --Tinkerer 11:01, 4 December 2006 (EST)

Hiya Tinker, I was wondering whether you could double-check the guild info on that page? I am not sure whether I forgot to remove any dead guilds / alliances, or whether I erroneously removed active alliances ;) Thanks in advance! Soft and hard reset

I just noticed your question on the Community Portal. The difference between a hard and a soft reset is very simple: A soft reset simply has people running out and in, while a hard reset has everyone running out and the leader resetting the instance. User:Jeoh/Signature
