"Bloodletter Clan" Wiki Page[]

The bot marked my guild as inactive because it claims it couldn't find it via the armory. We are active however the guild webpage and guild should be "The Bloodletter Clan". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wwinick (talk · contr).

i have moved the page to Guild:The_Bloodletter_Clan_(The_Venture_Co._US) and removed the inactive tag. Make sure everyone in your guild knows the new page. Also try and remember to sign your posts using ~~~~ Laurly 14:02, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

"Acceptable Losses" Wiki Page[]

The bot marked my guild as inactive because it claims it couldn't find it via the armory. Yet, you click on the link and it's there very visible. I've gone through the code of the page to make sure some of the copied templates had the correct names, it all looks good. I'm not sure where it's drawing the armory information from where it's claiming it's looking for a guild that isn't there, but it isn't in the page itself.

Is it possible for me to remove your code or would you prefer to check for yourself?

Acceptable Losses —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Titarian (talk · contr).

I've removed the tag. --PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 14:19, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

"Bear and Friends" Wiki Page[]

The bot marked us as inactive because "Bear and Friends" can't be found on the armory. Bear and Friends isn't a guild, it's a raid alliance made of several small PvE guilds. Does the page need to be changed, then? Is there a specific category for raid alliances?

Bear and Friends Flit 20:48, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

I'll move it to a server sub page, and retag as a GoG. Thanks for dropping a notice for us. :) --Sky (t · c · w) 20:51, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Moved to Server:Argent Dawn US/Bear and Friends. Please inform your members that it has move; I'm going to delete the redirect. --Sky (t · c · w) 20:56, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Whatever became of...[]

... the Construction tag? Laurlybot ate them all, the page is gone, what was it replaced by? Inquiring minds want to know. --Eirik Ratcatcher 00:55, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Killed by those who saw it as being used incorrectly (not Laurly). It was, but tbh they should have replaced with stubs. oh well. --Sky (t · c · w) 02:12, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Adys made me do it said replace Construction with nothing. Bot could have replaced it with stub. Laurly 07:11, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Whee. Thanks for the explanation. I guess I get to drop this at Adys' doorstep, then.
Btw, Laurly, I've seen <templatename> used to show template links; not sure that's appropriate for a link known to have gone away, and feel free to school me if you already knew that. :) --Eirik Ratcatcher 18:42, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
nope i didnt know that. does that mean you don't need to use the nowiki tag? BTW kirkburn was after adys on irc for the same issue :) im going to add loging to string replace bot so that it logs what it changes so it can go back and undo it all if needed. Laurly 19:35, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Unilateral decisions make me sad - if someone wants the tag restored, I can do so. It probably needs a better definition of when to use it though. Kirkburn  talk  contr 20:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Wow wow wow, what's with the drama here? An under construction tag has no place on a wiki. Check the pages laurlybot edited, most have had the tag for months, and those were not totally unvisited pointless pages. There were about 50 uses of it, it was a good time to get rid of it.
A wiki, by definition, is under construction. I thought this would have been obvious to everyone having made more than 5 edits on here. "Under construction" stuff should go on sandboxes (user sandboxes if you want to be left alone) if you can't finish it with the preview (eg recursive templates); and you should only "release" it if it's usable/readable - obvious exception for totally new pages. User:Adys/Sig 07:29, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Whether or not it had a place, you should have discussed it first. Kirkburn  talk  contr 17:27, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I can agree that an "under construction" tag should have a sunset, and probably a very short one (like no more than 3 days or so). And I can agree that there are many times that sandboxing can avoid many cases where 'construction' would otherwise be needed. For those pages where I've used it in the past, I guess I can get by on inserting "stub" where I would have inserted "construction". That make folks happy? ... wonder if Jiyambi updated Stub/Other to allow comments... --Eirik Ratcatcher 19:14, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Quest bot[]

I know that you're reworking your bots since that terrible computer thing that happened, so I assume you're looking for help during the testing phase which you're currently in.

 1. The category parameter isn't showing up in the questbox.
 2. Spaces are appearing between the parameters of the questbox.

And purely cosmetic:

 • Instead of linking the image and linking the quest item, ( example: Common ) You could use , and that would produce the same thing.

Hope this helps, User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 21:22, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

i saw you making a bunch of changes was wondering what you where up to. anyway pop over to User_talk:Laurlybot/quest_bot.
 1. bot cant find category its not an option to rip that human will have to add that but check phase 2 note over on the bots page.
 2. Spaces are evil im trying to get ride of them havent had much luck
 3. sky doesnt want the bot using item template. check the bot page i linked above argue it with him.

Let me know if you find any major bugs Laurly 21:31, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Bot Q[]

Just out of curiosity, the pages that are tagged with overwrites for Laurybot, are they markers for LB to find? Or is it indicated somewhere else for the Bot to overwrite it? So, for example, if I really wanted to add information to that page (for whatever reason), fleshed it out, and removed the tag, will it still be overwritten? --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 07:56, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

if you remove the tag it wont be over writen. basically tag puts the page in the so by removing the tag you remove it from the cat so your safe Laurly talk|contr|bot 09:58, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Ooh, another q. If I remember correctly, your bot doesn't add pics, right? There are currently some new (?) npc additions that are going to be overwritten by lb, but they are sitting in the image requests. Will lb also get rid of the image request when she overwrites the pages? Shall I be frantically screenshotting so that I know which to upload when lb brings those pages back online? =D --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 06:55, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes the bot currently will over write the pictures if its run in batch mode (fully automated). But because i'm still testing it i have been watching them and checking them as i go. Im just not going to run any that have some kinda data in them until i know the bot is working. So adding a picture should be ok but im not going to promise anything. Laurly talk|contr|bot 07:09, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Two things[]

One, this is a request for you to go leave me a user talk comment on where your template is for NPCs (do you even have one posted somewhere? xD). There were a couple things I didn't like about it, soz... Would you oblige?

Two, for guild module related stuff, you might want to put a notice at the top of this talk page and/or your user page that says all queries with regard to the guilds having the big red tag on them should point their requests to people listed at WoWWiki:Administrators. Just an idea. =) --Sky (t · c · w) 05:38, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

1. User:Laurlybot/npc_bot/template thats the template the bot is using as of about 2 min ago. But if you change it you have to let me know so i can copy it back to the bot. Some day i may set it up so that she automatically picks up changes from wiki but not now. You have to be careful not to mess with the pat template code or its going to make a mess of the NPC pages.

2. i haven't run guild bot in a few weeks. I will add something like that next time i run it.Laurly talk|contr|bot 08:02, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok, a few things come to mind:
 1. Add some whitespace to the tables (in other words, "space"(bar). IE: Instead of !style=, make it ! style=. Or before and after a |.
 2. I added a "locations" header above the zone map just now, though I'm not sure if it's in the right place. Feel free to move the header if you need. I would also suggest moving the locations to the bottom (obviously, above the elinks section) of the article, as the page might not look very nice on lower resolutions.
 3. I also moved the Screenshot tag in that edit.
 4. Remove the hard-coded percentages in the tables. Tables getting pushed down by npcbox looks tacky, especially if the tables have not-so-much information in them.
I think that's it off the top of my head. Let me know if you have any questions about any of that. =) --Sky (t · c · w) 03:25, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Ran some NPCs through Laurlybot[]

A few things I noticed:

 • Screenshot should go above Npcbox.
 • The creature= parameter in npcbox is usually plural as generated by Laurlybot and this doesn't really fit how creature appears in npcbox. It should probably be singular or just removed.
 • Non-existent fields in npcbox should just be removed maybe?
 • There is a space after <name> can be found in Durotar which should be replaced with a period.

--PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 19:51, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

 • [1] - type column is weird. --PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 20:05, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
 • It somehow got the icon for Backstab wrong. [2] --PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 20:26, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I think the blank parameters should stay, and they can be removed if need be. But Some people (usually the new ones) aren't sure what the parameters are all the time. Like image= gets deleted, and if they want to add an image they don't link it within the box, cause they don't see the parameter for it. And just cause the race is known doesn't mean the creature type shouldn't be displayed.

One other thing I've noticed is that the categories some times get duplicated, You'll see Quest enders/givers twice, or see <zone> mobs and Mobs. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 21:49, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Image is a bit different since Laurlybot doesn't process it at all, so that can be there blank. What I mean is for stuff that Laurlybot usually does handle and which doesn't exist, should be left off. --PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 22:06, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Your bot[]

Do you use your bot anymore? Seeing as it hasn't done any edits since April 1.--g0urra[T҂C] 18:46, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

i run the bot when i have time these days. New job so i don't have as much free time to work on my wiki projects as i used to. Think i checked a few weeks ago to see if there where any new quests. Some articles to check[]

Quest Bot still running[]

Is the Laurlybot still being used? I have some new quests I'd like to tag with . -Howbizr (talk) 16:43, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

What quests did you have in mind? g0urra[T҂C] 16:49, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
No bot is no longer running. should probably be removed so that no one attempts to tag quests which wont be run. Laurly (talk) 15:43, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Mobs category[]

Looks like Laurlybot is adding Category:Mobs to newly generated mob pages. Please remove that. Unless I'm mistaken, they should usually just have a zone tag (like Category:Borean Tundra mobs) and a type tag (like Category:Undead). Adding the super-category of Category:Mobs is redundant and fills that category with too many articles to sift through. Thanks =) -- Mordsith - (talk|contr) 21:29, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I think you need to check the date on the page you are looking at. Laurlybot hasn't been run since 1 April 2008. Laurly (talk) 15:40, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

User:Laurlybot/Donpc[]

Hey, I've edited the template that at one point in time was used to tag articles to be revised by Laurlybot. Since Laurlybot apparently is no more, I've made the page redirect to . Hope this is not a problem. IconSmall AmberrockAMBER(ЯΘ<K) 20:08, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
