When a player uses the Unusual Compass, a cast bar for 'spinning' shows up. When the cast is done, your character gets pointed in a random direction.

This item can be found inside the [Bag of Fishing Treasures] rewarded from completing Marcia Chase's daily fishing quests in Dalaran.
Notes
It was originally possible to use this compass while falling. It has been reported that if you succeeded in using this compass while falling, you did not take (as much) falling damage.
