:Not to be confused with the Akhenet Fields in Uldum.

Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom (also referred to simply as Ahn'kahet or The Old Kingdom) is an instance located in the Dragonblight on the icy continent of Northrend. The huge underground city serves as home to remnants of the once magnificent Nerubian Empire.

Ahn'kahet is one of the sections of Azjol-Nerub, the others being the Inner Kingdom and the Upper Kingdom. The city is controlled by Undead nerubians and Yogg-Saron's faceless ones, with a presence of the Twilight's Hammer clan.

On heroic, it awards approximately 2300 reputation.

History
WC3-section

The Old Kingdom was represented in Warcraft III:The Frozen Throne by the Old Kingdom Door, which had at least part of the Inner Kingdom and the whole of the Upper Kingdom behind it. Anub'arak confirms that the Old Kingdom begins behind the gate, but where the Old Kingdom ends is up for debate. The quest to kill the Forgotten One implies that the Old Kingdom right after it, but the quest to escape Azjol-Nerub in the following mission implies that the collapsing section of Azjol-Nerub that the mission is set in is still the Old Kingdom.

RPG-section

Azjol-Nerub can be divided into two sections: the Old Kingdom and the Upper Kingdom.

The area known as the Old Kingdom is deep below the surface and is the original location of Azjol-Nerub. The nerubians preferred to stay well below surface level. This area has not been well maintained because the Scourge never descended this far. By the same token, that means they have not looted as much here, and it is also easier to avoid them by staying to these lower levels. Most of the nerubian rebels live down here. Though with the recent Scourge incursion (all nerubians seen here in WotLK are undead), it is unknown if they still survive.

|Ahn'kahar Spell Flinger || Shadow Sickle and Shadow Blast || Shadow Blast hits for 50% (normal)/80% (heroic) of the target's max health, and should be interrupted or (better) reflected. In Heroic-mode, it is recommended that these be targeted and killed first. Their Shadow Blast can deliver at least 27,000 points of damage. If two are pulled at once, they can occasionally both decide to fire Shadow Blast at the same time, which can one-shot even some tanks. As casters, they generally cannot be pulled except by silences and Death Grip. As long as they are alive, the healer's job becomes much more difficult. If they die first, everything proceeds smoothly.
