This template is supposed to be for all things World of Warcraft, due to the fact that alot of things cross over into the main world in the expansions. Armor can be seen by others in the main world. Player races other than core races can be seen, etc. Also as future expansions are released, previous expansions will be core requirements for the newer expansions, and will be released in the core package.Baggins 18:36, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Not really, it's just the cavet of the strange direction WW has taken with not marking expansion specific content as seperate from WoW (core) content, or marking WoW (core) content period (last i checked this template wasn't supposed to be for lore only). I guess fandy, not having been a part of or having seen said discussion did not know this and felt differently so changed it.
As to the method of expansion you described, that's actually a load of "bs" i'm afraid Baggins. Nothing like that has been said by Blizzard and the methods of how it could be done in different ways have been discussed a while back in the WW channel. --   20:33, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Zeal, the template has always been for "lore" only. I created by request of Ragestorm, and it was near direct copy of the RPG lore tag that started this whole lore template craze. It was later that I was asked to make sure it was defined as including expansions as well as the core product by other admins, because they didn't like the TBC specific one I made, as there was too much cross over with the content, and it will become hard to keep track of in the future as the core world is continuously changed to keep up with the new expansions.
Btw, the original RPG template was one of Fandyllic's ideas IIRC.Baggins 20:44, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
As for if previous expansion is required or not, I'm pretty sure its been discussed in the Blizzard forums and is implied by;
"Wrath of the Lich King builds on the rich foundation established in World of Warcraft and The Burning Crusade"[1]
Its also the standard way most MMO's work. I can't think of any exceptions, except for City of Heroes, and City of Villains that made both games stand alone to begin with, but could be combined to make a super world.

I didn't say it wasn't required, this template never had any idication of being lore specific (and still doesn't. WTB documentation), there is no cross over when you actually do it properly, the core will always be the core and grows along side the expansions but never takes on the expansion itself. --   10:16, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
