The "Sha'tari Skyguard" are an air wing of the Sha'tar of Shattrath City, defending the capital from attackers in the hills as well as battling against the arakkoa of Terokk in the peaks of Skettis. The Skyguard has two outposts, one in the northern reaches of the Skethyl Mountains and one near Ogri'la. Players start out at neutral standing with the Skyguard.

The kingdom of Azjol'Nerub was once a great empire of the harsh cold that is Northrend. Until the cold iron hand of the Scourge arrived and wiped out their once great empire. The Lich King brutally slaughtered the Nerubians, until they were a mere percentage of what they used to be. To humiliate the race more, The Lich King brought the dead Nerubians back to life, to be his eternal slaves. The live Nerubians were left few and far between.

When brave heroes brought about an end to The Lich King and his tyrannical rule, the undead breed of Nerubians were left without a home. Without any leadership, they were forced to walk the bitter wastes of Icecrown for years. Until the "leader" of the neubians, Ashma'kyll, was contacted telepathically by the Faceless God, Father Dagn'Drah, with a deal. With the power of the Faceless and Nerubians combined, they could retake the underground kingdom of Azjol'Nerub, in exchange for their servitude and promise to awaken Father Dagn'Drah. They found allies willing to aid in the causes, the Naga, Vrykul and Darkfallen. They became known as the Depth Wakers.

Exalted reputation yields the availability of nether ray mounts. These are epic mounts, so players will need Artisan riding skill in order to accept/complete them. Note: Unlike the daily Netherwing quests to obtain a nether drake mount, you only need Expert riding skill to do the Sha'tari Skyguard quests, however, having an Epic Flying mount will make some of the daily quests much easier.

Faction NPCs will give compliments when revered players are nearby. Take note that since patch 2.3 players get a 10% faction discount for being honored with the Skyguard, a 15% discount at revered, and a 20% discount at exalted. This means that an exalted player will only have to pay 160 for the mount and not 200.

*neutralRuned Caverns: Underneath the Storm Peaks and Crystalsong Forest, an unending blizzard is raging. The depthes of Ulduar reach down into here, and is known as Uldamor. Filled with gaping valleys and tall peaks, this place is the least, but not completley, touched by The Depth Wakers. Due to the recent seismic activity caused by Father Dagn'Drah, whos power even reaches this far, the Titan constructs have gone rogue and started attacking those who have created them. Rumors are, Golganneth's presence has been felt heavily in this zone, implicating that he may be near...

Detailed
āˆ’
*neutralSaro'Mahk, the Obsidian City: Lying beneath Howling Fjord, Grizzly Hills, and Zul'Drak, lies the largest Nerubian city to ever exist. Saro'mahk is not all buildings though, as festering bogs have covered all but the highest tiers of the city. Fungal growths line the walls and stagnant bodies of water give the zone a fetid stench. Tall plateaus circle parts if the area, shaped as though gravity should not let them be. Towers hang from the top of this zone, created by the Nerubians to be impenetrable fortresses. To the south lies the Utgarde Catacombs, which are even feared by the local undead and wakers. As well as the roots of Gundrak to the east, which are nothing more than a fraction of the upper portion, but as much, if not more, deadly, and known as Tangleroot, because of Vordrassils root covering its entirety.

  +
Players are introduced to the Sha'tari Skyguard by speaking with Yuula Recruitment Officer, found next to in Shattrath City. Yuula gives a quest that has the player kill any 20 Gordunni Ogres in the Barrier Hills above Shattrath City. Once complete, she asks the player to deliver a package to Sky Sergeant Doryn at Blackwind Landing, north of Skettis, to open up the once-daily Fires Over Skettis bombing run quest.

  +
Also at Blackwind Landing, Skyguard Handler Deesak has players kill 10 Warp Stalkers within Skettis so a Nether Ray in your possession can be fed. He also indicates the availability of a direct flightpath between Blackwind Landing and the Skyguard base in Blade's Edge Mountains. The flight path becomes available at honored. It is a flight on a random colored nether ray to just north of Ogri'la.
āˆ’
*neutralKira'thuun, the Sunken Desert: Under Silithus, lies a large empty desert that was created for C'thun and his twisted projects. When Father Dagn'Drah and Ashma'kyll heard about this, they instantly sent agents there to scout it out for tactical position. From there, they could use the attaching hives to attack many Horde and Alliance settlements. The obsidian forges that were used to forge the obsidian destroyers of Ahn'Qiraj could be used to the Depth Wakers favor. The Silithid have burrowed their way into the zone, and have already made two major hives known as Zakra and Jiliak. The area hasnt been completley devoid of sentience, in the center is the body of C'thun, that stretches from the top of the zone to the bottom. He has been rendered harmless by the constant watch of the greatest mages the Horde and Alliance have seen. He has shown signs of awakening though, which has caused the heroes distress and worry.

  +
There is also a soloable daily escort quest offered by a Skyguard Prisoner found in one of three cages atop the trees in Skettis. Two of them are located up north on the east and west sides of the lake. The third is southeast of the lake in Lower Veil Shil'ak, near a large tree that is marked on the map. The platform the cage spawns at is a covered platform connected by one hanging bridge to another tree with an open, uncovered platform. A Skyguard Prisoner respawns at any of the three locations right when the prisoner from a previous escort completes and/or despawns.
āˆ’
*neutralEldritch Grove: Tirisfal Glades and Gilneas have been hiding a dark secret for years, since the first elves breached the shores. The evil that was felt was first thought to be an old god, but it turned out to be Father Dagn'Drah. He has been lying in the Eldritch Grove for as long as the old gods have been corrupting the earth. Discovered when he made his presence perfectly clear by assaulting Gilneas and Tirisfal Glades with his dark assailants. The grove is a decaying wasteland of moss and stone. The rivers are not of water, but of the great Faceless one's blood. The Depth Wakers have dominion over this zone, due to their master being here. They fortified his dwelling area into the Hollow Cloister. The zone acted like a prison to the Council of Tirisfal, so many ancient horrors dwell here, giving the zone its name.

āˆ’
*neutralNerubia: Deep in the roots of Icecrown, Dragonblight, and Borean Tundra is an evil and dark precipice. The largest cavern that lies in Northrend is considered the only true home by the Nerubian race. Deep pits and gorges reach to even more unfathomable depths. Nerubian structures line the walls of these pits and the mountains alike. The largest pit, is held by the last remnant of the scourge, known as the Hand of Ten Liches. They refer to this place as The Malebolge, and is ruled by a council from which its owes its name, the Council of Ten Liches. They provide the biggest threat to the nerubians trying to reclaim the area. The only living breed of nerubians left, known as the Yilithar, are accepting help from the Horde and Alliance to help reclaim the true gem of Nerubia. The Sundered Monolith stands tall in the center of the zone, acting as one colossal altar to Ashma'kyll. Beneath The Sundered Monolith though, lies Arak's Palace, the true dwelling of Ashma'kyll.

Terokk's Downfall quest chain
  +
Severin Skyguard Medic initiates the main questline for the Sha'tari Skyguard which has the player collect 6 Shadow Dust to create an Elixir of Shadows for Sky Commander Adaris. After the initial quest, players may continue to turn in a 6 Shadow Dust for another Elixir of Shadows and 150 reputation with the Skyguard. The elixir gives a 20 minute buff (which lasts through death) that enables the player to see the shadow arakkoa of Skettis, which is necessary for several quests.

  +
Adaris has players kill three Talonpriests: Ishaal, Skizzik, and Zellek. Talonpriest Ishaal drops the quest item Ishaal's Almanac, lootable by everyone in the party, that initiates the next part of the chain. Like the Time-Lost arakkoa, the Talonpriests require the player to have the Elixir of Shadows buff to be able to see them.
āˆ’
*Halls of Fire:The ancient hammer Vulraiis lies here. The hammer that was used by the Titan Khaz'goroth to forge Azeroth. The power that this mallet holds is unfathomable, and in the wrong hands, could undo all the great Titan has done.

āˆ’
**FlameLeviathanThe Atom Smasher: The titanic machine that crushes atoms with potent flames.

āˆ’
**EarthenNorthDulgra Onyxheel: General of the Iron Dwarves.

āˆ’
**HumanSky Watcher Hoth: Astronomer of Hand of Ten Liches, apprentice to Orias.

āˆ’
**IronGiantMighty Saronite Colossus: Monstrous creation of saronite and dark power.

āˆ’
**KologarnRalm: Titan guardian of Vulraiis.

  +
The almanac dropped by Talonpriest Ishaal is turned in to Adaris. He sends players to the Lower City arakkoa and then back to Adaris. At this point, Hazzik, the captive Arakkoa next to Adaris, whispers the player for their attention. He has players collect his package from his former home in Upper Veil Ala'rak to acquire a Shabby Arakkoa Disguise in order to buy a book from Sahaak Keeper of Scrolls in Terokk's Rest.
āˆ’
*Halls of Life:The Staff of Eonar is located here, which gives Sholazar its jungles and wildlife. The Depth Wakers are corrupting this staff to corrupt Sholazar Basin, and they are close to succeeding.

āˆ’
**TentacleTwistlash: A living vine of venom and spikes.

āˆ’
**FrostNymphGrand Doctor Adgyn: Large Dryad, a highly respected medic in Titan lore.

āˆ’
**FacelessoftheDeepInfiltraitor Xyssir'Olfram: Faceless berserker that harnesses blood and steel.

āˆ’
**FungalMonsterEssence Keeper Vedantus: Monstrous Guardian of the Staff.

  +
Once Hazzik has the book, he starts the group quest Adversarial Blood. The quest requires at least 40 Time-Lost Scrolls, which drop from the Time-Lost Arakkoa. For every 10 scrolls, the player can summon and kill one of the 4 required quest mobs.
āˆ’
*Venomgore Fen: The highest plateau of Saro'mahk hides a viscous secret. With no connection to the ground, things up here have begun to evolve and mutate rapidly.

  +
:This quest originally required the player to collect a dropped quest item off each boss. As each boss only dropped one item per kill for the group, the repeatable group quest required significant grinding so all players could gather enough scrolls and complete the quest. However, since each player received rep for killing the arroka, turning in Shadow Dust for Elixirs, killing time-lost arroka, and killing the bosses, the significant investment in time was rewarded with a considerable amount of rep.
āˆ’
**MothGothramia: Queen of the moths that lurk in the fen.

āˆ’
**RatFalhash: Giant rat that is worshipped as a god by Kobolds.

āˆ’
**NerubianCourier Fla'ark: Personal courier to Ashma'kyll that made a wrong turn.

āˆ’
**OozeVenomgore: The evils of the swamp condense into a large bubbling mass of ooze.

  +
On completion of Adversarial Blood, Hazzik gives the player a Time-Lost Offering, used to summon Terokk at Terokk's Rest, the island in the middle of Blackwind Lake. Adaris will also give the quest Terokk's Downfall, which has the player kill Terokk. It is recommended to have 5 people (or more outside the party to help) as acquiring the Time-Lost Offering is a significant investment and it is consumed by the summoning. Terokk hits moderately hard, cleaves, and does an AOE Shadowbolt. At approximately 25%, he will become immune to all damage. The Skyguard will begin to drop blue smoke flares, followed by firebombs, onto the island. Terokk must be led to the flames to remove his shield and make him damageable. However, he will also enrage and hit substantially harder. When Terokk is dead, the player may return to Adaris and complete the quest.
āˆ’
*Hanging City of Dolkra'th: Hanging over the giant ley-line fracture, arcane energies run wild here. The ancient obsidian-breaker race hides out here, and they wont expose their secrets so easily.

āˆ’
**ObsidianDestroyerGalaj: Second Obsidian Breaker ever made, paling in comparison to Moam.

āˆ’
**BatKuh'hruk the Singer of Night: Large bat that is being drained of power by the ley lines.

āˆ’
**AzuregosGlacingos: Blue dragon sent by Kalecgos and taken hostage by the wild energies here.

āˆ’
**ObsidianDestroyerHemanhotep Ebonshaper: Pharaoh of the current Tol'vir in Northrend.

āˆ’
**ArcaneVoidGodAethik and Etheran: Two void lords representing matter and antimatter.

  +
Adversarial Blood can be repeated by turning in the required quest items to Hazzik for another Time-Lost Offering. Even if one player uses their Time-Lost Offering and fails, another party member can use theirs and everyone can get credit for the kill. As of the current patch (3.3), Hazzik rewards two Time-Lost Offering on the initial turn-in.
āˆ’
*Xarak'Saer: A mine running deep into the earth, mining pure saronite for armor and weapons. To foil The Depth Waker's plans, the heroes must take out the dreaded foreman of the mine.

āˆ’
*Ahn'Qiraj Catacombs: The lower levels of the City of Ahn'Qiraj, C'thun was not the only terrible horror imprisoned there. The advisor to C'thun lies here, an ancient Forgotten One, and he is working with The Depth Wakers, although he may have some alterior motives.

Once every two hours, a group of Skyguard will launch an attack from the Skyguard base at Ogri'la to Bash'ir Landing. Once the attack is underway, several Skyguard NPCs will engage the mobs at Bash'ir landing, and a series of NPC vendors will appear. The items provided by the vendors increase in quality as the attack is maintained, until eventually the entire area is wiped out by a large number of elite attackers.

**Qiraji MaleGeneral She'prad: General of the Qiraji forces roaming the catacombs.

Doing nothing but the repeatable daily quests, it will take you 37 days to max out your Skyguard reputation from Friendly. To speed things up, it's a good idea to do the other quests when possible. It is possible to get 27,000 Skyguard reputation in about 13 hours. Farm all of the mobs in Skettis, turn in the repeatable shadow elixir quest and once under the effects of the elixir, farm the time-lost mobs for time-lost scrolls, used to summon some mini-bosses around the area. Once these bosses are killed, you can turn in their claws/beaks for 350 rep, and you will be given a time-lost offering, this is used to summon Terokk, who when killed gives you 500 rep. Complete this process over and over again and you will have roughly 2k+ rep/hr.
āˆ’
**FacelessShadoweaverHellwaker Denjak: Grand warlock professor of the Grounds.

āˆ’
**SilithidShura the Huntress: Colossal wasp that has taken up residence in the highest tower.

The Wakers see this as a strategic bottleneck leading to the Sundered Monolith, so they have quite an interest in it.

Rewards

This means that an exalted player will only have to pay 160g for the mount and not 200g.

Quests

The Sha'tari Skyguard have two major quest hubs. Both have daily and normal quests.

Blackwind Landing, Terokkar Forest (3660 Reputation)

The first quest for Blackwind Landing starts in Shattrath City near the Flightmaster.

Skyguard Outpost, Blade's Edge Mountains (1720 Reputation)

You must complete 2 quests in Ogri'la before you can start the Skyguard Outpost quests. The first is N [70] The Crystals and the second is N [70] Our Boy Wants To Be A Skyguard Ranger

Ogri'la, Blade's Edge Mountains (850 Reputation)

Some of the Ogri'la quests provide dual rep with Sha'tari Skyguard.

Detailed

Players are introduced to the Sha'tari Skyguard by speaking with Yuula <Recruitment Officer>, found next to Nutral <Flight Master> in Shattrath City.

Terokk chain

Main article: Terokk's Downfall quest chain

Severin <Skyguard Medic> initiates the main questline for the Sha'tari Skyguard which has the player collect 6 Shadow Dust to create an Inv poison mindnumbing [Elixir of Shadows] for Sky Commander Adaris.

Adaris has players kill three Talonpriests: Ishaal, Skizzik, and Zellek. Talonpriest Ishaal drops the quest item Inv misc book 06 [Ishaal's Almanac], lootable by everyone in the party, that initiates the next part of the chain. Like the Time-Lost arakkoa, the Talonpriests require the player to have the Elixir of Shadows buff to be able to see them.

The almanac dropped by Talonpriest Ishaal is turned in to Adaris. He sends players to the Lower City arakkoa and then back to Adaris. At this point, Hazzik, the captive Arakkoa next to Adaris, whispers the player for their attention. He has players collect his package from his former home in Upper Veil Ala'rak to acquire a Inv misc birdbeck 01 [Shabby Arakkoa Disguise] in order to buy a book from Sahaak <Keeper of Scrolls> in Terokk's Rest.

Once Hazzik has the book, he starts the group quest Adversarial Blood. The quest requires at least 40 Inv misc note 06 [Time-Lost Scroll]s, which drop from the Time-Lost Arakkoa. For every 10 scrolls, the player can summon and kill one of the 4 required quest mobs.

This quest originally required the player to collect a dropped quest item off each boss.

On completion of Adversarial Blood, Hazzik gives the player a Inv misc urn 01 [Time-Lost Offering], used to summon Terokk at Terokk's Rest, the island in the middle of Blackwind Lake.

Adversarial Blood can be repeated by turning in the required quest items to Hazzik for another Inv misc urn 01 [Time-Lost Offering]. Even if one player uses their Time-Lost Offering and fails, another party member can use theirs and everyone can get credit for the kill. As of the current patch (3.3), Hazzik rewards two Inv misc urn 01 [Time-Lost Offering] on the initial turn-in.

Bash'ir Landing Raid

Main article: Bash'ir Landing Raid

Once every two hours, a group of Skyguard will launch an attack from the Skyguard base at Ogri'la to Bash'ir Landing. Once the attack is underway, several Skyguard NPCs will engage the mobs at Bash'ir landing, and a series of NPC vendors will appear. The items provided by the vendors increase in quality as the attack is maintained, until eventually the entire area is wiped out by a large number of elite attackers.

How long will it take?

As of 21/10/2010, Patch 4.0.1: Using the above method, with a retribution specced paladin with GS~4700 (and a bit of focus), it was possible to generate approx. 6k rep an hour.
