Some notes

Just writing from a second terminal, so I can't really wikify this right now. But basically some crystals will appear in a zone, two or three at a time, similar to the Ahn'Qiraj gate-opening world event. The crystals will then be surrounded by random Scourge zombies, level 58 and up. As you kill the zombies, more will spawn and the nearby crystal will lose "health." Eventually, when the crystal's "health" meter gets low enough a number of Scourge Engineers will spawn around the crystal. Talk to an Engineer and it will turn into a Shadow of Doom, a big level 60 shade with 40,000-50,000 hit points and some interesting drops. When all the Shadows are defeated, all players in the area will see their health and mana refilled, and will receive a half-hour buff called Soul Revival that boosts all damage by 10%.

These crystals can be very hectic scenes, as sometimes several groups or raids from both factions will compete to obtain the faction and rewards that come from tagging (and killing) the Scourge. Even so, it beats farming the Plaguelands for that suddenly all-important Argent Dawn reputation. --Sarbox 04:34, 21 June 2006 (EDT)

Another night, another zombie grind.
With six (!) zones under attack at once tonight, we discovered that when the crystal is low on health, if you don't convert the engineers that appear within a certain amount of time they will repair the crystal to a substantial degree and disappear, effectively resetting the encounter. Also, while the crystal is in this critical state all spawned Scourge will go into a sort of berserk mode, roaming freely over a much larger area of influence (a circle around the crystal roughly twice the radius of the original spawn zone) and attacking anything they encounter.
So clearing the crystal, say, by yourself with a buddy helping to get all the rune, stone and gear drops is not a possibility. In the end we picked up some passers-by and cleared the critical phase with six well-geared level sixty types and a level fifty-five; your mileage may vary. --Sarbox 04:05, 22 June 2006 (EDT)

I have made some observations about the rare mobs that drop the undead slaying bracers: --Doomgrip 06:23, 28 June 2006 (EDT)

While being alone at one crystal I killed a rare mob three times in a row. The rare mob would respawn shortly after I killed it. At another crystal I killed a rare mob, but it didn't respawn even after some time. I then proceeded to investigate the two other crystals in the area (still being the only one around), and I found a rare mob at the last one I investigated. So perhaps the rare mob has a short respawn timer, but can respawn at any active crystals connected to the Necropolis.
The undeads spawning around the crystals are spaced out in such a way that you most of the time can pull them one at a time. However, the rare mobs seem to not share the same spawn points, and pulling rare will very likely result in additional pulls since the rare roam in between the normal undead.
I once saw a rare mob despawn just as the normal undead can despawn.

Merged

Combined with my existing "The Scourge Invasion" page; redirected that page to here. --Oryx 07:32, 21 June 2006 (PDT)

Okay, but this page doesn't have the collection quests section. I tried moving it but not working for me. Damn my beginner level wiki skills. --lajekahr 08:44, June 22, 2006 PDT

The Collection quests are not part of the Invasion event, they are a seperate and permanent addition that just so happened to arrive at the same time. --Hilda 10:23, 22 June 2006 (EDT)

Added a pointer to the collection quests to help people who may be confused. --Oryx 09:28, 22 June 2006 (PDT)

Are we sure they are permanent? I didn't see that. I hope they are cause AD rep is such a pain in the butt. --lajekahr 12:004, June 22, 2006 PDT

New Bosses

I just added a new section to this page, of the new bosses inside the instances. I have only come across one of these myself, so that is the only one I have added. I will try and scout out the others to get more information on those.

And, if someone would like to tidy up the information, it would be nice.

--Hilda 04:02, 23 June 2006 (EDT)

I think this is the new Dire Maul boss.

--Pater

Added names and locations of all Scourge Invasion instance bosses.

Disappointment

It might be useful to note that for characters of most levels (12-58), there is nothing they can do to help fight the invasion. Apart from the low level quests (<=11) killing Scourge Invaders outside cities, the other quests are all >= lvl 58. I've looked around and can't find anything to correct this notion. Zuytdorp Survivor 08:35, 25 June 2006 (EDT)

Tbh, these days, level 60 is most people (on older servers anyway). There are new bosses in many of the dungeons, and you can be lower than 58 if you're grouped. You can still enjoy the sights at lower levels, too. -- Kirkburn 14:12, 25 June 2006 (EDT)

I'm a 46 lv Paladin ususally spend time at Tanaris. I run into undead but can't kill them. Why dind't they just make undeads' level equal to zonez level. So 60 lvs could go to 55-60 places and 40-49 could go to Ferelas, Hinterland , B.lands or Tanaris --mko 17:51, 9 July 2006 (EDT)

The End of the Invasion

Is there any way to get the undead slaying chestpieces after the invasion event ends? --Arlor 11:18 PM, 2 July 2006 (EDT)

Reports are coming in on the forums about how the event ends. Added a short note. --Oryx 04:37 PM, 28 June 2006 (PDT)

Just wanted to note that Drysc posted some information that they will be adding quest NPC's at a later date to turn in your extra scourge stones. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=8871209&s=blizzard&tmp=1#blizzard for referrence. I'm quite new here, so didn't want to just edit the page --Elco 19:24, 29 June 2006 (EDT)

That link is dead now... I got told the same thing when I asked a GM if they would be any use a couple of months before the expansion; "They would be useful in the future." More than a year later, and there are still no NPCs to turn in to... --Azaram 08:12, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Plural of Necropolis.

Okay, this whole entry is flooded with dozens of appearances of the word "necropoli". The word "necropolis" is Greek. Whoever wrote the article was doing a poor pluralization of the word under the impression that it's Latin. Even if it were Latin, the ending would not be "-i" because "-is" is not a second declension masculine nominative singular ending. Within the word's declension in Greek, the "-is" ending is the singular nominative, and the plural nominative ending is "-eis". The etymologically correct (and also correct within the English language) plural form is "necropoleis".

I've corrected all the "necropoli" except the one in the Contents table, because I don't know how to edit that part. I'm sure a more experienced Wiki user could help with that.

Thank you. --SpACatta 3:26, November 5th, 2006 EST

It is necropolises according to Blizzard. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 03:55, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Okay now according to Blizzard it could sometimes be spelled necropoli. LOL Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 05:57, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Mob Targeting City Leader

What is the name of the mobs that attempt to go after the city leaders? It's been so long I don't remember their names. Hordesupporter 19:21, 2 February 2007 (EST)

Coming Back

It seems that they're going to be doing the Scourge Invasion again, probably to herald the release of Wrath of the Lich King. In the Wrath beta, there are quests for the Exodar and Silvermoon, with slightly different text from the older versions. http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?quests=7.-368 WoWWiki-Suzaku (talk) 12:50, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Any word on how long it takes the Necropoli to respawn? --User:Reacheround/Sig 02:29, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, however long it is, it's getting decreased tonight in a hotfix. Source: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=11829526596&sid=1 User:Reacheround/Sig 20:54, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Anyone know what day is the last day to turn in our Runes? I want to save them all them up until the last day and decide what to buy, yet I don't want to log on and suddenly find out the Quartermasters are gone. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 12:29, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

I think it was removed with the 3.0.3 patch, on 4 November 2008. So because I decided to volunteer to take old folks to the polling places early in the day, I am left with some useless Necrotic Runes. Oh well, it was worth it.--ClemSnide (talk) 02:27, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
ADDENDUM: I will officially stop whingeing now! Yes, the Keeper of the Rolls was back, as were the Scourge shard sites. I got to buy the nifty junk with one of my charas, and am doing the work with another even as we speak. My Hunter is gaining enough Argent Dawn rep to make his goal. Everything is smooth like buttah.--ClemSnide (talk) 21:14, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Invasion was still going strong post patch. Lostdrewid (talk) 04:11, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
I asked in the chat channels and people said that you could use the runes until Wrath of the Lich King came out. I didn't get to buy anything yet since I was waiting until I got a lot of runes together. Shouldn't we be told when the guy that we can turn the runes into disappears before he actually disappears? Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 04:24, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
I just logged on. The guy is still there to take your runes. Also, I just saw Flameshocker attack some Human Commoners. LOL Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 04:47, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure we will be. The thing is, the First Invasion™, the vendors despawned when the 150th victory was won - which Blizzard realized was a mistake. They told people pretty much right away, hang onto your shards, we'll bring the vendors back soon. And so they did. I'm sure they learned that lesson and will have the vendors stick around well after the Second Invasion™ comes to an end. When you stop seeing purple skulls on your map, -then- you should haul ass to a vendor. Lostdrewid (talk) 04:54, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay sounds good to me. LOL Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 04:55, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Dates

This happens every year, as of last year 2008. Right? The page doesnt mention WHEN the Scourge Invasion occurs. --Raisky (talk) 12:42, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

It is unknown at the time. It happened after Hollow's End once, but that doesn't mean that it will happen again. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 18:59, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
It does not happen "every year" as of 2008. It's happened twice, once when Naxx was released and once when WotLK was released, and Blizzard has given no indication that it is likely to happen again. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:00, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I hope it happens again. The zombie infestation was fun. Thanks for the clarification on the page. --Raisky (talk) 12:17, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Difference between the invasion that occured 2006 and 2008

The article should be more clear when it comes to what only occured 2008 and not 2006 and vice versa. I didn't participate in either of the events so unfortunately I'm unable to contribute. --Frejh (talk) 15:24, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
