Tier 9 Raid

So, looks like the Crusaders' Coliseum will be the "secret surprise" Tier 9 Raid, unless Blizzard has something else we don't know yet. Orisai (talk) 19:46, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

I wouldn't place any bets on Tier 9, the Coliseum could provide sidegrades, kinda like the respective Zul raids were not top-iLvl ones when they were released. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 20:38, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Or this could be a nice replacement for a third wing in the Vault of Archavon instance. Orisai (talk) 20:47, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
I Think ( my oppinion ) that there will be another instance (besides the Crusaders' Coliseum) that will be the Tier 9 raid. The Coliseum will have Tier 8 quality or less much like the other rewards from the Argent Tournament Grounds. -- (<span="help title=Morph>M o r p h | <span="help title=Morph_Contribution(s)_to_this_Wiki>C | <span="help title=Morph_Discussion_Page>T) <imagelink>IconSmall_Gnome_Male.gif|Gnome|Morphgnome</imagelink><imagelink>IconSmall_Draenei_Male.gif|Draenei|Morphdraenei</imagelink> 21:13, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Keeping in the spirit of the original game and BC, Tier 9 will likely be Icecrown Citadel. I would think that the Coliseum would correspond with a combination of MgT (the 5-man) and ZA (though ZA didn't come in a 25-man version, it's roughly the same idea). --Joshmaul (talk) 01:32, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I wonder what bosses we'll fight? Maybe a resurrected Black Knight? Or a new Arugal reborn instance? Or corrupted Argent Dawn/Crusade champions? I'm so excited! Or maybe something pre-Icecrown Citadel, i.e. "lesser Scourge" before the big clash at Arthas' palace. --User:ShandrisForever 07:27, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't think we're gonna fight "evil hostages", to send them to their death in an arena wouldn't really be something the Argent Crusade/Tirion would do/allow. I'm guessing more of an extended "arena quests" setting, with valiants and champions duking it out, "who's the best fighter?" or such. Probably again with faction-specific opponents, as a Horde party/raid, you're gonna face Alliance representants, and the other way around. I can even see a mechanic of not death as victory, but rather defeat/unconsciousness, even for players, which probably disables durability loss, but also Spell nature reincarnation [Rebirth], Spell shaman improvedreincarnation [Reincarnation] and Spell nature timestop [Divine Intervention]. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 09:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I think it'll probably be just actually having players duke it out while mounted. No instance. It wouldn't make sense to have it as one anyways. Instances are usually based on out of control conflicts in which we have to stabilize. A controlled area? Not so much. It's possible the Black Knight could be resurrected, but I doubt he's worth a second thought to the Lich King. He was just a member of the Cult of the Damned. All he would serve is just another disposable death knight. It is more likely it'll be some newer reward system based on the amount of wins you get in jousting, since that's been the theme of the entire Tournament. They've had us duke it with NPCs to rise to Champions, now all that's left is the Champions fighting each other for final glory. Might not even be PvP, but still just PvE. As far as the preparations for fighting the Scourge thing, it may just be more dailies based on taking down Scourge forces like bringing down a frost wyrm and some Cultists and facing off against death knights and lesser minions in front of the Citadel. Don't expect an Arthas encounter anytime soon. One major goal of Blizz's is to do this right. They killed Illidan off too fast during BC and had to save themselves with bringing back Kael and introducing Kil'jaeden into the picture. Arthas will be the very last fight. They still have Deathwing to bring in with Grim Batol and finally revealing Uldum's purpose. Unless they mention the next expansion at this year's BlizzCon, I don't see this wrapping up within the next year or two. Who knows? Blizz has been working on the Emerald Dream since the production of the classic WoW. --Mykael Mourningsun
Blizzard actually said when they announced it that it WOULD be an instance. Two, actually - a five-man and a raid. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 18:14, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
But... why? What's the actual conflict? Are the bosses just gonna be named Champions? --Mykael Mourningsun

This is going out of the realm of the article, and into the domain of question without anwsers yet. This type of discussion is better suited to Forum:Patch 3.2.--SWM2448 18:26, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

As of May 8th Latin-american Community Manager Luumht confirmed that the Crusaders' Coliseum will be that "secret surprise instance" that Blizzard developers spoke about on future content interviews. So, its pretty much possible that this one will be the Tier 9 Raid.

Here is the link to the thread, for those who speak and/or understand Spanish: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=17367770065&sid=2 Orisai (talk) 18:56, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

"new instance" still doesn't state it will have a new tier of gear. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 09:19, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

and... where is the surprise? Pudim17 (talk - contr) 00:58, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

The surprise is that before this announcement, we didn't know what the raid instance for 3.2 would be. Many speculated on Azjol'Nerub, for example. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 10:12, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Nathanyel is right - just because it's a new raid does not automatically mean new tier. I again wish to point out Zul'Aman, which was released between Black Temple and Sunwell Plateau, but did not have tier gear - comparable gear, yes, but not tier gear. I believe this will be more of the same, that it will have gear that will be comparable to Ulduar (or at least enough to use it IN Ulduar, since Icecrown is probably not for a good while yet), and be something to keep the masses busy before Icecrown. Usually the last instances of an expansion get the third and last tier - Naxx for vanilla WoW, BT/Sunwell for BC, and Icecrown for WotLK....makes sense, does it not? --Joshmaul (talk) 17:57, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, as of June 17th, Blizzard's community manager Bornakk confirmed that the Coliseum will be the next Tier of raid encounters, introducing new gear sets based on the Alliance and the Horde (this sounds like the Marshall/Warlord ones). So, this will be the Tier 9 Raid.

Bornakk's original post (this time in English): http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=17900030059&sid=1 Orisai (talk) 02:20, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

They've said it will be akin to Magister's Terrace several times, so they don't mean Tier 9 when they mean "a new tier" - they mean "tier" with a lower case "t." /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 12:55 AM, 18 Jun 2009 (EDT)
No. They're adding a new alternative currency, the Emblems of Triumph, as a drop from the Coliseum encounter. Plus, we got another season of Arenas, making the Coliseum the Tier 9 Raid...

... And, if you ever mention the Sunwell Plateau gear being on pair with S4, Blizzard devs were just too lazy to add item set bonuses to the gear you can trade with sunmotes. Orisai (talk) 19:05, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

As far Tier 9 is concerned, it's official. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 8:22 PM, 6 Jul 2009 (EDT)

MP5

Be on the lookout for this change:

Re: Paladins - Should we start collecting Mp5 | 2009-06-08 19:14 | Blizzard Entertainment Ghostcrawler

Regardless of any other changes we might make, mp5 just doesn't seem to provide enough point for point on gear. It's possible (likely?) we'll just increase all of the mp5 on gear.

Assuming that was a serious question, he means it will be 30mp5 instead of 23mp5. Mp5 is just a stat like crit or int. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 12:25 AM, 12 Jun 2009 (EDT)

Mount changes

I've heard a lot of complaints about the mount changes - me, I find it would make things a bit easier, but I do have one question: I kinda liked the fact that blood elf paladins got a tabard out of the whole deal with their epic mount quest. Would the mount change affect this at all? --Joshmaul (talk) 10:20, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

It is likely the quest will simply have a lower level requirement in line with the changes - allowing people to still obtain the tabard. --Zenero (talk) 10:34, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
The quests will stay at the current level, especially since they make use of higher-level instances. They might change the wording a tad to not say "you will get a mount at the end" that much, but I doubt that. I don't know about the paladin and warlock chains, but the druid one story-wise is based on threats for the Emerald Dream, though it involves various birds a lot, it doesn't explicitly go by "How to get the Swift Flight Form". If you didn't buy the epic mount/form from the trainer earlier, you will get it for free "as a bonus" when you finish your epic quest chain. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 13:13, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't specifically answer your question about the tabard, but Zarhym did update the post to show the level requirement changes for individual class mounts. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 3:42 PM, 14 Jun 2009 (EDT)
I have one thing to say about this: *high-pitched voice* OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!! I am soooo hyped. Deiena (talk) 20:48, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I would imagine that the quests would remain the same and just be more for the Feat of Strength than actually getting the mount. The tabard would be the only thing worth getting, but the whole chain quest would be excessive just to obtain one. And the Alliance paladins and all the warlocks wouldn't really get much more than the achievement and items involved with the quest. And lore-wise, I couldn't see them lowering the requirements, seeing as with the warlock quest, you have to deal with some pretty serious demonology stuff. Make a deal with the Shadow Council, kill a powerful demon that's been used as a source of the last Highbornes' immortality, use its magical prison as a gateway to a world full of dreadsteeds, Nathrezim and who knows what else. Plus it would leave the quest NPCs as pointless guys just hanging around nearby the Burning Steppes' Altar of Storms. What I would like, and Ghostcrawler has even hinted at it, is for Warlock's to finally get a flying demon epic mount. We don't even need a basic flying one, just give us an epic fiery netherdrake thing and I'll be happy. Or something along the lines of Tolkien's Balrog. That would actually be awesome... some large, smoldering, toad thing that crawls around like an ape and then leaps into the air to take flight while I just sit happily on the back of its neck. Maybe add a little whip mechanic to the player so whenever we take off, we summon a whip made of flame to crack it across the back or head or something to get it going. Sorry for going off topic, but it still relates to mounts at least. IconSmall FelbloodElf MaleWarlock Mykael Mourningsun (talk) 19:05, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

When will this be out by? By July? August? Deiena (talk) 20:49, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Engineering content

Yay! After being hit with the Nerf Stick so many times, I was gettin' a complex! Glad to see things like "engineers get more benefit from potion injectors". The enhancements to "engineering enchantments" are nice, but not a decision point for me. The saronite bombs for siege purposes have seemed quite silly to me; the CD is such that I can't imagine any reasonable increase in siege damage being worthwhile. And glad to see any number of the other "annoyance reduction" changes. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:02, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

I doubt it. The Fel Reaver pet I wanted (Be it guardian or small) never dropped in TBC. Frowney--SWM2448 01:56, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
You just never killed enough Fel Reavers! You have to kill several hundred of the buggers to get one to drop, you know! :) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:34, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Any idea if the Goblin Welding Beam will repair siege vehicles? If so, WG/SOA just got more interesting, and Unbreakable just got a little easier. --Dewin (talk) 21:26, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

I doubt it'll heal for more than a few K life max, which isn't that much for WG siege vehicles, and next to nothing for Ulduar vehicles. It's probably intended to heal your buffed dragonlings. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 11:20, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Along with the alarm-o-bot... since it's being redesigned... forget the welding beam, I'd rather a new transporting device to K3. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 20:03, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
I second that...though where would the gnomish engineers go? Fizzcrank's a little too easy, they could get there just by taking the boat (though it's still a possibility) - maybe the Nesingwary camp? --Joshmaul (talk) 21:10, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
That air strip in Borean Tundra might make more sense though... But then there really shouldn't be an issue with sharing locations... on Kalimdor the gnomish engineers go to a goblin town. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 21:16, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

K3 already has an unused teleport stand. (The northern one still goes to Garm's Bane, once activated.) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:39, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Fizzcrank has an unused stand too, I think. The one takes you to the top of that rock, but there is another one.--SWM2448 22:12, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
I know a new one would have to be added in K3... as the current one still works even after completing that quest. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 00:35, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Engineers can now learn to create a portable Wormhole Generator for Northrend. The Wormhole allows them to travel to different locations in Northrend, although the locations are sometimes in dangerous places. .. Ask and thou shall receive. Wintergrasp

Well isn't THAT something? I'm guessing that even high end machines were beginning to groan under the weight of the Wintergrasp influx. And perhaps even the mechanics of the game bent some if you had that many engineers throwing saronite bombs around... Fortunately, I'm on a low pop server. We have trouble, on occasion, of getting just a single raid group going for it. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:42, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Duration of the Test

I've been on the PTRs and i've also noticed that being able to copy premades, the simplicity of the Coliseum instances, and obtaining T9 and T9.5 gear as well as high ilvl epics for gold on a major content patch test makes me think Blizzard wants to test and deploy this patch in less time than the previous major patches. I'd say one month as maximum, if everything goes well.Orisai (talk) 21:24, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I wouldn't hold my breath. This has been going on for quite awhile now, Fury of the Sunwell was much quicker. If anything, we should have had this patch implemented by now. And since I posted this in the month following the original post, it would seem a 'month as maximum' is hoping a little too much. I somehow get the feeling it'll be around BlizzCon that we'll receive this patch. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was just later this week. Who knows? It seems that this patch is more focused on evening out the classes rather than the instance, lore or PvP, so they'll be testing for more than just the T9 difficulty, Coliseum runs, and obtaining gold. It's all about getting everyone on the same page. Hence the Q&A Blizz has been posting about each class, and so far there's only around four out of the ten classes. What I want to know, if Blizz is taking all this time, why not take a bit more to update Moonkin and Tree of Life forms? The cat and bear forms certainly didn't take too long for them to whip out in comparison to the other things. IconSmall FelbloodElf MaleWarlock Mykael Mourningsun (talk) 18:48, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
You can't say that. You don't know when they started working on the updated cat/bear forms. They could've been working on them since before 3.1. But overall, yeah, I agree. It'll probably be a couple months before we see this patch on the live servers. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:39, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Well if it were based on how soon they released images of the forms one after the other, then it was only a matter of a few weeks to pull out the skins for each form on both races. This patch has definitely been in the works that long and will probably be for another few, so it would be somewhat safe to ask why they couldn't just whip out Moonkin and Tree of life. I'm sure they can do it, they're just in the experimental phase right now, so it would seem they're pretty much done mostly with the patch. I just threw it out there because Moonkin has been around nearly as long as bear and cat, yet people seem to think it was because cat and bear were around the longest and that's why they're being updated. Moonkin would have to be with bear and cat and not with tree since it was during vanilla WoW, tree didn't come in until BC. I'm glad they'll be working on those two next, but I just think all four could've been done by 3.2. IconSmall FelbloodElf MaleWarlock Mykael Mourningsun (talk) 20:57, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
They pretty much completely reworked mp5 and the whole holy paladin build. They're going to need a lot of data before they'll know they got the balance right. But I'm sure it's been in the works a long time considering there's a dungeon involved. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 7:51 PM, 12 Jul 2009 (EDT)

Dragonseye Gems

The horrible change of the dragons eye gems not being prismatic anymore is not stated in the patch changes... but this horrible change IS present in the test server... --D558 (talk) 06:47, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Yup. If you find anything else like that, just add it to the undocumented changes page. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 6:16 PM, 1 Jul 2009 (EDT)
Really, the set bonuses alone (basically qualifying for meta sockets) is the only effective nerf. The [Dragon's Eye] cuts got a hefty stat boost, and the ones with mp5 got a double boost. That should offset the set bonuses more than enough. I'm betting I'll change at most one gem (from yellow to green or something like that) to keep my meta activated. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 7:54 PM, 12 Jul 2009 (EDT)

Mount Removals

If they have achievements that reward mounts, then let people have access to them. Contrary to Blizzard's belief, some raid groups have not defeated naxx or ulduar. i realise that this is to prevent farming, but why do they even bother adding these rewards if they intent to remove them with a new content patch? Noabr (talk) 02:38, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Any specific reason why're you're talking about that here, instead of a more relevant page? IconSmall WolvarBig, furry, and insane (Have a conversation with the homocidal furry!) (Come and stalk me! ...No, wait, please don't.) 02:39, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

While it would be a more appropriate comment for here, I'll indulge you by my own speculation: That the mounts are intended as a reward specifically for people on the cutting edge. Much the same for the titles given for having completed the more entailed level 70 keying quests. You would have to talk to Blizzard to get a definite answer, though. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:33, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
