The Combat Rating entry states that every 3.94 points of expertise rating grants one expertise. I don't know what the source is, however an edit should be made, I think. The actual Expertise required given that figure is 88.256, or 89, rather than 88. Paw 09:09, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I made an adjustment to this page, to reflect that races which receive Expertise bonuses as a racial will only receive that bonus when equipped with a weapon of that type. If this is not notable, feel free to remove. Suzanne 11:36, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

When dual-wielding does the offhand also receive the racial expertise bonus (e.g. Orc Shaman)? For example, Axe+Mace - does the mace get +5 expertise for an Orc?

Yes, the orc would get +5.
No, it does NOT. You can see this in the character tab ingame. A different expertise value will be listed for each weapon. - Alltat (talk) 23:23, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Incorrect. Main Hand and Off Hand have seperate Expertise Ratings. Both Main Hand and Off Hand get the full benefit of any Expertise Bonuses from items, but in the case of an Orc weilding an Axe and a Mace, the Axe would have 5 more Expertise.Suzanne (talk) 21:53, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Chart overkill[]

The huge "expertise caps" charts seem rather pointless. All talents and racial bonuses are now included in the expertise number(s) shown on the character tab, so there really isn't any reason for any charts beyond "you need this much to get rid of dodge, and this much to get rid of parry". At most, include a list of talents, racials and glyphs that grant expertise. - Alltat (talk) 23:23, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

If you don't need the information, feel free to skip the chart. Anyone actually min-maxing their character needs to know the exact rating numbers, since the character tab does NOT actually inform you if you are over a specific Expertise Skill by X amount of Expertise Rating. Too convoluted and missing some info[]

I'm not an unintelligent guy (though I am tired) but I found this article very difficult to follow for, and therefore apply to, my level 47 Combat Rogue main. Even combined with the expertise calculator at Zalambar.com. For a start, there's no mention of the unmodified base chance a mob has to dodge and/or parry, that I can see. The only figures I found were at http://www.wowguideonline.com/hitrating.html, which states 5% unmodified base chance to dodge, +0.2% per level above your toon's. Can this be confirmed or denied? The article I link to is from 2008. Apart from that, the article is generally written from the point of view of a high-level character, which is not always helpful. Even then, it's often unclear which level toon is being referred to. Basically the whole thing needs tidying up so that it's more readable by a layman—which, let's be fair, is the whole point of this wiki: to enlighten laymen! :) Enigbo (talk) 05:36, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

5% plus 0.2% per level is the chance for a mob to crit a player, it has nothing to do with expertise. Furthermore, dodge and parry are separate items on the attack table (although expertise reduces both at the same time). Through testing it's been shown that boss dodge chance is 6.5%, and parry chance is 14%. None of this should matter to a level 47 character, as it is impossible for you to ever receive enough expertise from pre-WotLK gear to cap even dodge. Unigolyn (talk) 03:47, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Druid dps cap[]

I believe that the number for druids in the dps cap table is wrong. 214 was the old exp cap (without Primal Precision), so I think the author just missed that one. The evidence is, because of a messed up calculation, I took 208 exp rating on my druid and this resulted in 27 expertise.
