If you want to help with some community projects, then feel free to drop me a line here (I am watching your user_talk page) - I am looking for dedicated people who want to further WoWWiki as a community! I would be interested in helping with some community projects. I'm familliar with Wiki and I've worked in the past with WorldofWarcraftAtlas.com before they shut down. I love writing and organizing information, as well as I'm interested in learning more about the WoW storyline. What are the differences in the teams?

:Visit WoWWiki:Community teams for more info - just drop your name in one of those team pages (they are mostly empty at this point, I just got started on this project) and I'll include you. If you'd like to leader one, go ahead and just put your name as leader of one, I don't really care right now (-:

Have your main tank tank the non CC'd usher with your off tank building up agro on him, if possible, have your maintank spell reflect right after he is afflicted with frost shock, this will allow him to reflect the stun part of the spell (unfortuantly, the agro-reduction is not reflectable)

Aggro discipline is the key to this encounter. Grant your tanks enough time to build up threat before you start dealing out damage, or you'll lose more time resurrecting and rebuffing members than it was worth it.

I'm Ragestorm, the team leader for the Bookkeepers. Seeing as how we're in the infancy stages, any help is welcome. Just a few questions for reference:
−
Reward
  +
1) Do you have a particular field of speciality? (ie, orc lore, elf lore, non-humanoid lore, researching, ect.)
−
<!-- Repuation, experience or other things gained -->

  +
2) Though not a requirement by any means, experience with the WarCraft games prior to WoW is helpful.
−
Reputation: Provides 15 reputation with The Violet Eye.

  +
3) Again, not nearly a requirement, but how familiar are you with the WarCraft novels and published materials?

  +
I can see that you've also joined a couple of other Community Teams, and you also lead one. This isn't a problem (I'm a member of several as well) by any means, though I hope we can recruit some others for the team to reduce the workload. Remember, if you ever feel overworked by the team responsibilites, just tell me, and I'll see about re-assignment. Although the RC Patrol is now under your jurisdiction, I just wanted to give you a quick spin on what I thought it should do... just thought each one of you guys should check the Special:Recentchanges page everytime you come on and make sure none of the edits were malicious. Edits where the author's name is red, where there is no edit summary, or where the editor is on the vandals list are good ones to check. When you think a page is suspicious, just visit it and check it's history, and perhaps use diff function on the last edit or two. If there is a malcious edit, revert it and leave a note A) on the article's talk page, B) on the malicious user's talk page, and C) on the Known vandals list. Simple enough? I would like it if you would watch your team /Join page for people who want to join, and if you also would take a little time to create a helpful article at the RC Patrol's homepage and flesh it out with info about everything I jsut told you so taht new and prospective members know what's going on! ==Extended... hiatus==
  +
Quote (Schmidt, earlier, somewhere else, new):
  +
:In the interests of keeping things orderly, even at the expense of efficiency, it would be nice to have things voted on. This way we don't have to wonder if something that is found on the policy page really was arrived at with concensus. The reasoning behind me even starting the policy page (I'm very surprised no one had developed one beforehand) is that I wanted everyone to agree on it. It was poorly worded, and I had hoped that someone would be able to rewrite it by now. I hope that we can write things a little more formally (not esoterically) and vote on things as written, and if someone disagrees we can reword it before it gets to the regular policy page so that we don't have to rewrite anymore. Is this understandable? (I'm pretty tired.)<br />
  +
Yah... me too. But I am particularly tired of fighting against people... I can see that, although the users here are mostly young and progressive, they still seem to act somewhat like a group of museum curators... assuming that any attempt at change from outside is vandalism and not perhaps a symbol that something is wrong. I can only fight the good fight against my own side for so long... soon such a cross between the 'cold' and the 'civil' wars becomes to much for a busy man like me to handle. I am, from this posting forward, on an extended wikibreak, until such time as I mature and see that I really fucked up, and that obviously everything is my fault (as everybody else already does - doesn't that mean they must be right? but I saw it on TV mama...). Anyway, I am putting you in charge of the Community Teams project, I hope you can organize the community here into something more productive and organized than the bureaucratic nonsensical... mass it is at this time - I have been rather unsuccessful in that respect. Knowing you as well as I do (as in, not at all) I would assume you would leave some note along the lines of "slow down and be careful, and people will be easier to work with" - I can not slow down. I work at my own pace, that is precisely why I am taking a break. I wish you the best of luck with this project; and I am sure it will continue on unimpeded by the lack of organization and properly designed policy... the fact that all the information contained herein is becoming more and more fragmented and badly formated every day as more and more people post more and more info in more and more formats matters not, as the 'community will vote' upon proper policy and decide what is best... soon ,you will be beyond the point of even an army of feverish editors like me from making every article conform to whatever delayed standards you decide upon. In friendly warning,

About the rumored races :
  +
  +
I have to say that I appreciate very much what you did for the Rumored Races page. I also think that what just said Anticrash was the best thing ever in this wiki. But now Fandyllic destroyed what we've been working for, no matter of our wishes or what we researched, I think we shall now stop editing anything on this page. I hope much people will follow me, because I know think that, if a locked issue can be broken by an admin with so poor reasons, I think that we must not continue this project. Just wait and see. Though you'll see me on the comments page ...--Kirochi 16:47, 10 Jan 2006 (EST)
  +
  +
: I'm going to wait and see what happens. I really believe in community, but sometimes it almost feels like it's better to make a stupid fansite and close people out of the process. Because we all work against each other. Why can't everybodies ideas get up there, get equal footing, and not have opinions on them. I hate the idea of possible/unlikely in general. I just want to get information to one place. Look at my first edit where I created the page, I put Pandaren at debunked. I only upped them to possible after Blizzard debunked the fact that they said anything about races to magazines. I just want people to see what's out there, without the flaming and misinformation of the forums, and I really had high hopes wowwiki would be the place.
  +
  +
: I really hate being treated like I was following policy incorrectly, like I was being unfair, like I wasn't trying to be objective about things. Like I was trying to schmooze over the voting process. But when people pull "the admin card" it because clear this is not a democracy like it says in our policy. --Xmuskrat 17:09, 10 Jan 2006 (EST)

"Fire Naga" and Salamander
I see that you moved the information from Fire Naga to Salamander. It would be better to click the move tab at the top of the page, because it keeps the history all in the same place, and it would move the talk page also. It looks like it's bugged at times, where it won't be moved, but I don't think it's really bugged, and it seems to move properly. That's my experience, anyways. Schmidt 01:25, 25 Jan 2006 (EST)

  +
:Yeah, I'll make sure to do that in the future. Thanks for the tip. Can we still revert the old page, and move it the right way? --Xmuskrat 09:26, 25 Jan 2006 (EST)

  +
  +
: It didn't work. It's either because of the quotation marks, and that might have confused the system (curse 1.3), perhaps because of the pre-existence of Salamander. I doubt it's the pre-existence, since you're supposed to be able to (and I've done this several times) move over a redirect. Anyways, for the future, if anything like this comes up where you can't move an article, put in the history for each article that you're moving it from a specific article, and link that article name so we can have a trail. But if you're going to do something like this, it's always best to try moving first. It makes everything a little cleaner. Schmidt 01:45, 26 Jan 2006 (EST)

I was going to suggest that you make your own full Great Sea expansion page, but I remembered that much debate caused things to be moved around, so you already have one Here that may or may not be 'yours', if such a thing on a wiki can be. Was this move fine? I was just reminded of it and wanted your thoughts.-- 00:19, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

  +
: I was always under the impression that a article discussion page it was fine to write whatever opinion you had. Seriously, how can you have a discussion page without personal thoughts? As far as moving the great sea expansion page to my namespace, sure that's fine. When I originally added those pages (and the rumored races page) we didn't add pages like that into namespaces. Originally I think we came to an agreement if 'rumored' was in the title it was okay. I'm all cool with namespace.--Xmuskrat 14:16, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

I wrote was a single sentence comment reply to another user comment, not content as part of an article. If it's a violation to post a personal opinion in discussion page, please let me know. That's the only thing I did. If you really want to clean up speculation on actual article pages, you probably should start by removing the whole "possible future" section of the Undermine article. I just want to thank you for making the best page on wowwiki (in my opinion): The Rumored Races

Revision as of 01:30, 31 October 2010

Welcome

Welcome to WoWWiki! Hope you can help the community and vice versa (-:
If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them, or you could drop them at the reference desk (where I might answer them anyway)!
Just wanted to say welcome, and to encourage you to contribute!

Looking for help

If you want to help with some community projects, then feel free to drop me a line here (I am watching your user_talk page) - I am looking for dedicated people who want to further WoWWiki as a community! Looking for members for the Cleanup Team, the Community Team, and the Organization committee - just remember to say which you want to join in your reply (-:

 ℑilver§ℑide

Interested in helping

I would be interested in helping with some community projects. I'm familliar with Wiki and I've worked in the past with WorldofWarcraftAtlas.com before they shut down. I love writing and organizing information, as well as I'm interested in learning more about the WoW storyline. What are the differences in the teams?

Aubrey
Visit WoWWiki:Community teams for more info - just drop your name in one of those team pages (they are mostly empty at this point, I just got started on this project) and I'll include you. If you'd like to leader one, go ahead and just put your name as leader of one, I don't really care right now (-:

 ℑilver§ℑide 19:26, 8 Dec 2005 (EST)
Hehe, thanks for joining; however, please do it in the proposed manner, a.k.a. leave a message on the join page so the team leader can evaluate you (-:
Welcome, though! --  ℑilver§ℑide 11:50, 9 Dec 2005 (EST)
As a P.S., would you like to head up the RC Patrol? There is very little more work involved...
Bah, it's so easy to edit the wrong thing and get the near same result. :) RC Patrol Team Leader? Sure, unles somebody more qualified comes along.Xmuskrat

Bookkeepers

I'm Ragestorm, the team leader for the Bookkeepers. Seeing as how we're in the infancy stages, any help is welcome. Just a few questions for reference: 1) Do you have a particular field of speciality? (ie, orc lore, elf lore, non-humanoid lore, researching, ect.) 2) Though not a requirement by any means, experience with the WarCraft games prior to WoW is helpful. 3) Again, not nearly a requirement, but how familiar are you with the WarCraft novels and published materials?

I can see that you've also joined a couple of other Community Teams, and you also lead one. This isn't a problem (I'm a member of several as well) by any means, though I hope we can recruit some others for the team to reduce the workload. Remember, if you ever feel overworked by the team responsibilites, just tell me, and I'll see about re-assignment. Respond to this (note on talk page, e-mail), and you're in! -Ragestorm 18:47 9 Dec 2005 (EST)

I'm updating the Bookkeepers page and saw your note to join, so I added you.. --Anticrash 16:04, 19 Jan 2006 (EST)
Seeing as how you're still a Bookkeeper, I wonder if you would take on an assignment for us. Recently Arator the Redeemer has entered our knowledge banks. He is apparently the half-elven son of Alleria and Turalyon. If you could confirm this, we would be most grateful, as it will help sort out our geneaologies. He is apparently to be found in Honor Hold. We've already got essential confirmation, but something more official and trustworthy (ie, you) has been requested. Ragestorm, Head Bookkeeper
'Oracle Bookkeeper : foreteller and official source of unreleased information' ? ^-^
Even if my opinion isn't maybe needed there, I think that he should be promoted before we ask him anything 'bout that (can I do it on my own as the majordomo ?)--K ) (talk) 19:49, 14 October 2006 (EDT)
You have been promoted to βurning Crusade Bookkeeper, just tell me if you agree with this denomination ;-)--K ) (talk) 11:31, 15 October 2006 (EDT)

RC Patrol

Thanks mate! --  ℑilver§ℑide 17:45, 10 Dec 2005 (EST)

Hey, I was just looking into if you are still monitoring the applications for the RC Patrol. There are a couple applications there that have been there for quite sometime, plus I noticed in the history that a couple people pulled their applications, because no one responded. I just applied for the RC Patrol, so I am currious if applications are even being accepted at this time. ~Tarog 06:17 PDT May 2, 2006

That was fast :P ~Tarog 06:55 PDT May 2, 2006
All it takes is a little poke. :) --Xmuskrat 09:04, 2 May 2006 (EDT)

Forums

As a team member, I would like you to register at the forums: WoWWiki:Forums. Makes life easier on us all; as a 'forum' structure is much easier to pass information and assignments on to team members than a 'wiki' structure. I will promote you as soon as I notice you registered so that you can moderate your team forum. (-: --  ℑilver§ℑide 22:26, 11 Dec 2005 (EST)

Characters

I set up a quick tutorial / instruction set for my character table at User:SilverSide/Table - feel free you use it if you like it! It also categorizes you into player categories (like Category:Players/Server/Side i.e. Category:Players/Blackrock/Horde and Category:Players/Class i.e. Category:Players/Priest by your characters (-: --  ℑilver§ℑide 17:24, 12 Dec 2005 (EST)

Extended... hiatus

Quote (Schmidt, earlier, somewhere else, new):

In the interests of keeping things orderly, even at the expense of efficiency, it would be nice to have things voted on. (I'm pretty tired.)

Yah... In friendly warning,  ℑilver§ℑide

PS1: Please do not broadcast this or anything similar around... I do not wish to spawn any more drama than is necessary. This message is for those I post it to; thanks for understanding as a personal friend. If you wish to leave me a note on my talk page, make sure to send me an e-mail in tandem so I know to visit back and reply! Finally, if you (the leaders I have asked to head up the various community teams) wish to use the forums, they are still there - unlike the wiki itself, I will be checking them and changing them as per the requests of the members there. Have a nice day friends...

Forums

Mate, I am trying to bring the forums to life by getting a few of my closer wowwiki friends to register and post. I don't care what you post, so long as you just post some stuff reguarly and get a few conversations going to incite other members to register and join in. I already got schmidt in, along with hammersmith - could you register a.s.a.p.? Thankshoe mucho hehe! --  ℑilver§ℑide 20:46, 2 Jan 2006 (EST)

About the rumored races :

I have to say that I appreciate very much what you did for the Rumored Races page. I also think that what just said Anticrash was the best thing ever in this wiki. But now Fandyllic destroyed what we've been working for, no matter of our wishes or what we researched, I think we shall now stop editing anything on this page. I hope much people will follow me, because I know think that, if a locked issue can be broken by an admin with so poor reasons, I think that we must not continue this project. Just wait and see. Though you'll see me on the comments page ...--Kirochi 16:47, 10 Jan 2006 (EST)

I'm going to wait and see what happens.
I really hate being treated like I was following policy incorrectly, like I was being unfair, like I wasn't trying to be objective about things.

Yeah, I'll make sure to do that in the future. Thanks for the tip. Can we still revert the old page, and move it the right way? --Xmuskrat 09:26, 25 Jan 2006 (EST)

Yeah. I'll do what I can in just a minute. (I hate work. The traffic is way too high right now.) Schmidt 01:09, 26 Jan 2006 (EST)

It didn't work.

Yeah, that entry is kind of hosed. --Xmuskrat 09:21, 26 Jan 2006 (EST)

Cycle of Hatred

I've read the new book, Cycle of Hatred, in the WoW book series. The information will be counted as canon, but I think we should hold off on including information from the book for a while, to give people more time to read it, as there are some twists that shouldn't be revealed too soon. Ragestorm 23:06, 23 Feb 2006 (EST)

From Kirochi

Hi. I've recently seen that while putting some information on the Rumored Races page and on it's talk you removed loads of stuff. Was it on purpose ?--Kirochi 15:27, 9 May 2006 (EDT)

 • Yeah, from what I've seen it looks like you keep trying to ninja-remove Worgen. --Adonzo 19:27, 9 May 2006 (EDT)

Me? If I did it was a mistake. Why would I clip off the bottom, that's where my credit for the page is. I think it's possible I did a save when the site was running very slow, and not all of it made it to the server. --Xmuskrat 09:43, 10 May 2006 (EDT)

That's what I thought. You wouldn't have deleted all this stuff without explaining it ^^--Kirochi 10:09, 10 May 2006 (EDT)

About the Neutral City named Sporeggar in Outland I'd like to know the sources of your informations, and what means "Sporeling" ? ^^--Kirochi

Most of it I got from this thread. --Xmuskrat 09:57, 15 September 2006 (EDT)

Great Sea ideas

It is great to have you back!Smiley You brought up on the Undermine page your personal thoughts about how it will look. I was going to suggest that you make your own full Great Sea expansion page, but I remembered that much debate caused things to be moved around, so you already have one Here that may or may not be 'yours', if such a thing on a wiki can be. Was this move fine? I was just reminded of it and wanted your thoughts.--SWM2448 00:19, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

I was always under the impression that a article discussion page it was fine to write whatever opinion you had.
You could talk to Ragestorm about the opinions thing. The fan fiction namespace discussion is Here if you wish to try to continue it on the current Village Pump page.--SWM2448 21:42, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
