Darrowmere US (PvP) is named after Darrowmere Lake in the Western Plaguelands. The realm opened on Oct. 5, 2006 and is a Pacific time zone (UTC-8) realm. Like the other members of Battlegroup US Whirlwind, the servers for Darrowmere are physically located in Seattle, Washington, USA. (See US realm list by datacenter.)

Free realm transfers to Darrowmere took place from Jan. 22, 2008 to Jan. 29, 2008 from Mal'Ganis, Kel'Thuzad, Sargeras, Tichondrius, and Maelstrom.

General Information

Community

Darrowmere has a friendly, tight-knit feeling and a strong community. Many transfers to other realms find themselves coming back or rerolling on Darrowmere in order to continue to take part in the community they left behind. Darrowmere has been among the lowest-population servers since opening in Oct. 2006 until free realm transfers that took place in late Jan. 2008 gave a substantial boost to total character numbers.

As of April 2008, the realm continues to have a low population but is no longer in the bottom grouping of realms by population. The realm has generally seen a Horde bias (perhaps as much as 2:1 or higher over Alliance), although this has seems to have been evening out somewhat in recent months.

PvP Activity

Like many PvP servers, Darrowmere has a strong PvP community, active in both battlegrounds and Arena. Queue times for battlegrounds are generally never longer than 10 minutes for Horde, more often under 5 minutes, and arena queue times are similar.

World PvP while levelling is relatively uncommon but does occur. Because of the Horde bias and the relatively low population of the server, a levelling Horde character will not find themselves ganked very often, but neither will they often have the opportunity to gank without spending time looking for player characters of the opposite faction. Among the best-known gankers on Darrowmere are Wildcaster and Varna (Alliance), and Eyece (Horde).

Large world PvP raids on opposing faction capitals are uncommon but not unheard of.

Economy

The economy on Darrowmere is typical of smaller population servers. Levelling gear tends to be in short supply (and can be rather overpriced, being aimed primarily at twinks), while TBC gear is underpriced in comparison to more-populated servers, although there is a reasonable selection of it. Epic crafted items, extremely rare drops and recipes and profession crafting mats generally sell for lower than they would on higher population servers, probably due to lower demand, and rare drops often take relatively longer to sell.

Anecdotal evidence indicates that the Alliance side of the server has a weaker economy than the Horde side, probably due to lower demand from lower population.

Progression

As of March 2008, Death is Eternal (Horde) had been furthest in PvE endgame progression, with 6/6 Zul'Aman, 5/5 Hyjal, and 4/9 Black Temple. However, the guild has since disbanded.

The PvE raiding scene on Darrowmere tends to be focused more on casual raiding than hardcore progression raiding. Combined with its relative small size, it is not surprising that the realm has yet to see an Illidan kill.

Although there is a strong population of PvPers there is very few people on the server that have the required skill to raid. It is a Mystery why only 1 Ally guild is doing T5 Content while the rest of the server is stuck in the 1st Raid of the expansion(Kara-for the nubs)...over a year after the expansion was released. Aberrance-->Focus...was the only chance Ally had on Darrowmere after BC. However too many QQers and other things stopped progression and the server was factionized, yet again. Darrowmere Heroes- Tahiah, Jehovahs, Krotos, Freek, Freezy, Spiteful, Perg, Reon, Kitkatbar, Matrix, Xal, Kwaga, Sylvannis, Veli, Keydash, Vidallio, Hart ---These People were the last chance...see how many are left?
