Samuro was a skilled Orcish blademaster, who once lived in a village with his brethren. Unfortunately for him, a bloodthirsty Wildkin known as Bloodbeak destroyed his village. With vengeance in mind, Samuro hunted Bloodbeak until he was finally met with success. Bloodbeak was slain, and Samuro could pay attention to his newly assigned task of sabotaging a Kul Tiras base camp near the coast.

However, he starts drinking to drown his regrets of preventing the loss of Gilneas City, but when the Forsaken attack Gilneas, he and his men fight back. The Shattering occurs as he starts to head towards the main Forsaken army, and therefore assists in the rescue of drowning soldiers and then evacuating Duskhaven. He travels to Stormglen with the other evacuees, but his stagecoach is attacked by ogres before it can reach the village.
Samuro was successful in this as well, using stealth to place demolition charges near vital structures of the Kul Tiras base (likely Tiragarde Keep in World of Warcraft). With his mission accomplished, Rexxar, Rokhan and Chen Stormstout could continue with a mission of their own, and Samuro was free to continue as he wished.

After the Gilneans unite due to the efforts of his father and Darius Crowley, he sobers up and prepares to lead a counter attack against the Forsaken invaders. He leads his men in reclaiming the land in the Battle for Gilneas City, but is killed by Sylvanas Windrunner when he takes a poisoned arrow intended for Genn. He dies secure in the knowledge that the city had been retaken.
It seems that several years after the founding of Durotar, he teamed up with other members of the Horde, one from each race, including the newly inducted Blood Elves, to form the metal band, The Tauren Chieftains. They made their debut appearance at the Darkmoon Faire at Shattrath City. He is the Orc Vocalist.

It is possible that Prince Liam Greymane was named after King Liam Trollbane. Seeing some xenophobic aspects of Genn Greymane, it seems unlikely, but it could be that Greymane does respect other kingdoms enough to praise former rulers. However, it seems more likely that both Liams were named after a king of Arathor with the same name.

  +
It could also be that this is a common name among all humans because its meaning in the real world is Protection in the German variant, obviously a popular theme, and My People in the Hebrew variant, which is fitting name for a ruler.

 • The speech made by Liam before the battle in Gilneas City is reminiscent of Winston Churchill's speech in the House of Commons on June 4, 1940, during the Battle of Britain. Faced with overwhelming odds, Churchill vowed that "we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender".
 • In the beta, he used a Rough boomstick as gun, but in when the real game was launched it changed to a normal, gilnean rifle.

Speculation

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

It is possible that Prince Liam Greymane was named after King Liam Trollbane. Seeing some xenophobic aspects of Genn Greymane, it seems unlikely, but it could be that Greymane does respect other kingdoms enough to praise former rulers. It could also be that this is a common name among all humans because its meaning in the real world is Protection in the German variant, obviously a popular theme, and My People in the Hebrew variant, which is fitting name for a ruler.
