Overview
The ability to avoid some or all of the damage or effects of various types of magic in World of Warcraft.

Resistance Scores
Both player and NPC resistance scores determine how much damage you take from a given element type and also affect your chance to completely resist a spell from that element.

Arcane
Arcane is primarily used by Mages and Druids. It is the least used resistance type currently.

Mage: [Polymorph], Arcane Missles Druid: Moonfire, Starfire
Example Items with Arcane Resistance
Fire
Fire is the most used resistance when used in PVE, its also useful when fighting mages or warlocks. This is the easiest resistance to gather.

Mage: Fireball, Fireblast, Flamestrike Warlock: Immolate, Rain of Fire, Hellfire

Nature
Generally used by druids (only?).
Example Spells
Druids: Entangling Roots, Rejuvination, Wrath

Frost
Used primarily by Mages, especially Frost Mages.

Mage: Frostbolt, Frost Nova Shaman: Frost Shock

Shadow
The warlocks main spell type, also used by shadow Priests.
