What do we do with the recipes of various professions? Each profession has its own name and own tables, while I think that all tables must be the same. That would be more pleasing. The name of the articles with the tables has different names so that they are hard to find. What do we do about this?

==Introduction==
:As I have closely followed and helped maintain Alchemy_recipes and many of its related pages since 2008, I would definitely want to be involved in any discussion to suddenly change it to become "standardized" with the other types of professions. I'm not opposed to standardisation, it makes sence, but I don't think it is something to rush into without some good discussion and consencus before hand (maybe its just the chill of Wikia rushing into things that makes me think this way, eh?). The Darkfallen is a race of vampiric undead blood elves, under the command of the [[Blood-Queen Lana'thel]]. They are a recent addition to the Scourge army, introduced after Arthas' second visit to [[Northrend]].

  +
They possess their own racial faction, the San'layn, which plays an important role in the Scourge army.
:Standardisation can be good, but I don't think the word "must" is really applicable. For example, there are some data fields that might be applicable to Inscription (whether a glyph is Prime, Major, or Minor; what class a glyph is for), that obviously don't pply to anything ''else''. So, let us discuss the possibility ... but let's not get stuck on "must", because the first thing we should idiscuss is, ''should we''. --[[User:PaxArcana|PaxArcana]] ([[User talk:PaxArcana|talk]]) 04:47, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

  +
The greatest concentrations of darkfallen are located in the [[Temple City of En'kilah]] in northeastern Borean Tundra, and in the [[Crimson Hall]] inside [[Icecrown Citadel]]; these are also the only places where unnamed darkfallen appear.
::Although I said "must", I actually meant to say "should" or "I think it's recommended". I tend to say that with [[Patch 4.0.3]] the recipes will be overhauled, especially those resulting in items, such as [[Blacksmithing]], [[Leatherworking]] and [[Tailoring]]. In the aftermath of the [[Third War]], the blood elves were cut off from their source of magic, the [[Sunwell]]. Desperate for aid, their prince [[Kael'thas Sunstrider]] pledged allegiance to Illidan Stormrage who granted them a new source of magic.<ref>http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/implemented/2p4.xml#sunwellplateau</ref> Together with their [[Illidan's Naga|new allies]], the blood elves went to Northrend in an attempt to destroy the [[Lich King]], seeking to avenge their fallen brethren.<ref name=W3xU4>{{ref game |title=Warcraft III |expansion=[[The Frozen Throne]] |campaign=[[Legacy of the Damned]] |mission=[[The Return to Northrend]] |zone= |npc= |quote= |quest= }}</ref>

=== Discussion===

  +
One thing that maybe could be standardised, without too much difficulty, is the naming scheme for transcludable pages. For example, (Alchemy/RecipeTable/Artisan) vs [[Inscription_recipes/Artisan]]. Renaming these pages to follow a more common pattern would not require changing the actual appearance of the content, and might make things easier in the long run. [[User:Ddcorkum|Ddcorkum]] ([[User talk:Ddcorkum|talk]]) 20:42, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

  +
Most of the surviving blood elves returned to Outland with Kael'thas, but a handful were lost and scattered in the frozen wastes of Northrend, where they were hunted down and slaughtered by Arthas. One of these survivors was [[Blood-Queen Lana'thel|Lana'thel]]. Although she wielded the draconic blade [[Quel'Delar]], she was no match for the power of [[Frostmourne]] and was overwhelmed. The Lich King chose Lana'thel to serve him in undeath as the queen of the [[San'layn]].<ref name=queldelar>http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/3p3/queldelar.xml</ref>

:In the interest of advancing discussion, I am putting together a table describing how recipes are transcluded for each trade profession. The intent is to identify how things are done now, so there can be meaningful discussion on whether or not to create a standardised method of doing it. Darkfallen mostly retain the builds of their still-living kin. However, unlike blood elves, their flesh appears necrotic and, though universally pale, ranges from fleshy pinks and red to gray and light green, and they tend to have either white, blond or dark hair.

  +
Their eyes have white, green, blue or black glows. Some Darkfallen have clawed fingers and ears more closely resembling those of a bat; in addition, a few have developed wings and horns.
:::I notice that Alchemy omits the space in Grand Master (I bet if you look at the edit logs, its my fault from 2 years ago, lol). Otherwise, it is very similar to Inscription except the use of "../RecipeTable/". One big difference I see, comparing Alchemy to Tailoring, is that in Alchemy only the tables are transcluded and in Tailoring the discussion on a particular skill level is transcluded also. Alchemy also includes a page dedicated to each level which also transcludes the same table, but the text can vary. The darkfallen are skilled in a variety of magic schools, often make use of vampiric skills that involve blood, and have even demonstrated some shape-shifting abilities. They are [[vampire|vampiric]] in nature, especially in the case of the Blood Princes, who are known to consume the flesh, blood, and souls of their victims.<ref>{{questlong|Horde|72|Shatter the Orbs!}}</ref><ref>{{questlong|Alliance|72|Last Rites}}</ref>

Darkfallen, most of the times, dress in red, orange and black garments, similar to their living cousins, the blood elves. They have assimilated the Scourge shared culture, and contributed with their own, which can be seen in the decoration of the Crimson Hall, inside the Icecrown Citadel.

They are often found in strongholds of other Scourge-affiliated races alongside with its local leadership, or in command of Scourge bases or operations across Northrend.
::::::I've noticed that many of the pages still have something like (Profession)/RecipeTable/(SkillLevel) that is unused but exists as a legacy from the last time that work on this was done. For example, see the Leatherworking in the table below, and you will notice I added "not in use" to the last column. I marked those pages for speedy deletion. The same will need to be done to legacy remains of other professions, as they are found. [[User:Ddcorkum|D.D. The San'layn is the Darkfallen racial facton of the Scourge. They possess two main bases of operations across Northrend: the Temple City of En'kilah and the Crimson Hall. The Temple City of En'kilah serves as the command center of the Scourge in the Borean Tundra, with the necropolis Naxxanar floating above the city where Prince Valanar, the overlord of the operation, lives. The Crimson Hall is the headquarters and home of the San'layn, located inside the [[Icecrown Citadel]], and is the place where the most powerful San'layn can be found.

== Recipe Table Difficulty Colours ==

I've looked at the various professions, and noticed that many have tables that include the skill at which a recipe may acquired, followed by the skill at which it changes colour to yellow, green and grey. I just wanted to hilight a template used by [[Alchemy recipes]] which consolidates these four columns into a single template, to reduce typing and make things more clear. The example below demonstrates the result. Be advised that the result is actually 4 columns.[[User:Ddcorkum|D.D. Corkum]] ([[User_talk:Ddcorkum|T]] / [[Special:Contributions/Ddcorkum|C]]) 17:21, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

I am thinking of creating another template RecipeTable/DifficultyHeader that will output the 4 column headers at the top, to further consolidate the transcludes. This is based on feedback someone gave in [[Talk:Alchemy recipes/Illustrious]]. If I make this template, I'll add it to the example. Anyways, Alchemy has been using this for a long time. Should we consider using this in the other professions?[[User:Ddcorkum|D.D. Corkum]] ([[User_talk:Ddcorkum|T]] / [[Special:Contributions/Ddcorkum|C]]) 17:21, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Blood-Queen Lana'thel holds the leading position in the San'layn hierarchy. The Blood princes, especially the Blood Prince Council, are the second in the chain of command of the faction, often recieving direct orders from the Lich King himself.
:Unless there is a good reason for inconsistency (strangely different mechanic for a particular profession, somewhat like how [[Riding]] doesn't really work like other skills) and you have the time and motivation, you should try to make them consistent.

:Keep up the good work. --[[Image:gengar orange 22x22.png]]&nbsp;[[User:Fandyllic|Fandyllic]] <small>([[User talk:Fandyllic|talk]] &middot; [[Special:Contributions/Fandyllic|contribs]])</small> 4:36 PM PST 20 Nov 2010

::As promised, I have created the new DifficultyHeader template and the demonstration is added to the above table. The documentation for both pages has also been improved considerably. This will hopefully make usage easier. [[User:Ddcorkum|D.D. Corkum]] ([[User_talk:Ddcorkum|T]] / [[Special:Contributions/Ddcorkum|C]]) 16:01, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

The only darkfallen not marked as members of the San'layn are [[High Priest Andorath]], [[Prince Navarius]], [[Prince Taldaram]] and [[Prince Sandoval]].
There are different methods that have been used by different professions, as the table below outlines. I see benefits to each different method. The LW/JC method is nice and condensed, wilhe the Alc/Insc method is more "tabular". The advantage of the data being tabular is that it can be sorted and it is more at the discretion of the user agent how it will appear. The advantage of the condensed format is that it takes up less space. If we were at Wikia, I would suggest the condensed method. Since we are not constrained by rediculous skins, perhaps the tabular method is appropriate? [[User:Ddcorkum|D.D. Instead of putting the skill requirements into a table, and linking to the item/recipe, I am begining to think that it would be more useful to insert the skill requirements as meta data on the item/recipe page itself, and then simply use a template to import the data. For example, something like <code><nowiki>{{:Minor Mana Potion|tpl=RecipeTable/Difficulty}}</nowiki></code> and the item would have meta data <code>|skill=10(3) 20 30 40</code>. Obviously this requires a bit of standardisation to avoid conflicting with the tooltips, but I think it is possible. I am going to conduct a small trial tomorrow to see if this works.[[User:Ddcorkum|D.D. Corkum]] ([[User_talk:Ddcorkum|T]] / [[Special:Contributions/Ddcorkum|C]]) 03:01, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Darkfallen are a unique kind of undead blood elf in service to the Scourge[1] that were raised as undead following Illidan's failed assault on the Frozen Throne.[2]

Introduction

SpireOfBlood

Spire of Blood in Temple City of En'kilah

The Darkfallen is a race of vampiric undead blood elves, under the command of the Blood-Queen Lana'thel. They are a recent addition to the Scourge army, introduced after Arthas' second visit to Northrend.

They possess their own racial faction, the San'layn, which plays an important role in the Scourge army.

The greatest concentrations of darkfallen are located in the Temple City of En'kilah in northeastern Borean Tundra, and in the Crimson Hall inside Icecrown Citadel; these are also the only places where unnamed darkfallen appear.

History

In the aftermath of the Third War, the blood elves were cut off from their source of magic, the Sunwell. Desperate for aid, their prince Kael'thas Sunstrider pledged allegiance to Illidan Stormrage who granted them a new source of magic.[3] Together with their new allies, the blood elves went to Northrend in an attempt to destroy the Lich King, seeking to avenge their fallen brethren.[4]

The blood elves were defeated by Arthas,[4][5] who raised the most powerful ones into his service as darkfallen of the San'layn.[2]

Most of the surviving blood elves returned to Outland with Kael'thas, but a handful were lost and scattered in the frozen wastes of Northrend, where they were hunted down and slaughtered by Arthas. One of these survivors was Lana'thel. Although she wielded the draconic blade Quel'Delar, she was no match for the power of Frostmourne and was overwhelmed. The Lich King chose Lana'thel to serve him in undeath as the queen of the San'layn.[6]

The darkfallen now oversee the Scourge's operations throughout Azeroth, with their masters residing in The Crimson Hall.[1]

Appearance

Darkfallen mostly retain the builds of their still-living kin. However, unlike blood elves, their flesh appears necrotic and, though universally pale, ranges from fleshy pinks and red to gray and light green, and they tend to have either white, blond or dark hair.

Their eyes have white, green, blue or black glows. Some Darkfallen have clawed fingers and ears more closely resembling those of a bat; in addition, a few have developed wings and horns.

Culture

Crimson Hall

The darkfallen are skilled in a variety of magic schools, often make use of vampiric skills that involve blood, and have even demonstrated some shape-shifting abilities. They are vampiric in nature, especially in the case of the Blood Princes, who are known to consume the flesh, blood, and souls of their victims.[7][8]

The San'layn is the Darkfallen racial facton of the Scourge. They oversee the Scourge's operations throughout Azeroth, acting as agents, leaders, or ambassadors.[9] The faction holds an important position amongst the Scourge offensive,[10] with its members, most of the times, performing important tasks on the behalf of the Lich King.[11][12]

The Crimson Hall is the headquarters and home of the San'layn, located inside the Icecrown Citadel, and is the place where the most powerful San'layn can be found.

Blood-Queen Lana'thel holds the leading position in the San'layn hierarchy. The Blood princes, especially the Blood Prince Council, are the second in the chain of command of the faction, often recieving direct orders from the Lich King himself.

The only darkfallen not marked as members of the San'layn are High Priest Andorath, Prince Navarius, Prince Taldaram and Prince Sandoval.

Bestiary

Though the Darkfallen are listed in the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Bestiary, their entry was never added.

Vampire inspiration

The Art of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King includes two pieces of concept art for the race; the first, titled "High Elf Nosferatu", is clearly inspired by Count Orlok from the classic German silent film Nosferatu, while the second depicts what appears to be a high elf with stitched-together flesh, dressed in elegant armor and wielding wing-like arrays of shields across his arms, which double as weapon racks, holding a number of blades.

The darkfallen, specifically the Princes, appear to be strongly inspired by the portrayals of vampires in both film and fiction, having bat-like ears, wearing cloaks with high collars and masks with fang patterns over their mouths. They also display mannerisms and characteristics strongly associated with the classic vampires of film and fiction, such as Bela Lugosi's portrayal of Count Dracula, and even have voice acting with a similar accent. Additional references have also been made to the Castlevania series of video games by Konami.

Vrykul origin

Early reports (of unknown accuracy) about the WotLK Alpha implied that what is now the darkfallen were vrykul wearing the Malefic Raiment.[14] Later, but before they got their current model, they were changed to elves wearing the Malefic Raiment.[15] Chris Metzen said at BlizzCon 2007 that the vrykul were vampiric, something that is not visited in-game. It may be that the darkfallen were the vampiric vrykul, but the idea that they were vrykul was scrapped.
