A bag is the generic term for any container that a character uses to hold other items. Inventory space is a critical resource in WoW and inventory management is an important aspect of game play. Using more and larger bags to increase available inventory space is a key aspect of character development.

Bags are equipped for use by placing the bag in the bag slots at the right-most end of the interface bar where your backpack is. Your backpack is actually a special bag that cannot be moved nor be replaced. Bags can be stored in your inventory (unequipped), but bags inside of other bags must be empty (thus they do not nest more than two deep).

You can purchase up to seven extra bag slots for your bank account at progressively increasing rates, starting at for the first slot, 1 for the second, 10 for the third, leveling to 25 for the fourth through seventh. Bags in your bank slots are considered to be 'equipped' (for binding purposes) but not 'being carried'. You can swap out entire bags between your bank slots and your carried slots. The inventory in your bank, including bags in bank slots, is shared with your carried inventory for some purposes, in particular for restricting unique items. Quests which require items that you have in your bank inventory will show up as complete even though you can not turn them in until you retrieve the items from the bank.

Faction Icons
Normal bags can hold any sort of item, unlike special bags that can only hold specific types of items. Special bags give the player more slots to store items than regular bags of equivalent level (and are generally cheaper than regular bags of the same size), with the trade-off of only being able to put certain types of items in them.

Bags are not displayed on the character in the game. The only visual difference is the icon used in your bag slots, your bank bag slots, and in your inventory. If the bags are the same type (hold the same kinds of things) and have the same number of slots, then they are roughly equivalent (but read the section discussing restriction). You may find the different graphics useful in organizing your inventory.

Would you mind me using your charcter page for your Night Elf Hunter as a template for my own character in game, I'm not a RPer but I like creative writing and would like permission to both use the page as a template and the permission to add the page in general.
Bind on Pickup (BoP) bags cannot be bought nor sold at the auction house; you must acquire them directly through play.

Many thanks Extractum--Paladin-General of Stormwind 11:41, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Bind on Equip (BoE) bags can be bought and sold at the auction house, but once used they can no longer be traded. Placing a bag in any of your bag slots, including your bank bag slots, equips the bag. You will get a warning when you attempt to equip a BoE bag.

You cannot have more than one unique bag anywhere in your inventory, including in the bank and any in transit in the mail. You cannot loot a unique item you already own, and you can not receive it by any other means. For example, 50 Darkmoon Faire Tickets will get you a common, but 100 Darkmoon Faire Tickets cannot buy you two Darkmoon Storage Boxes because you can't have a second one.

Hello! I have just a question: after the removal of many characters from wow, from their pages have been removed all the categories, like in this case. I have a doubt: in the case of Hydraxis have been removed the quest givers category (and that's fine, because he gives no more quests), the azshara NPCs category (also correct, he's no more present in azshara) and also the water elementals category. This one left me puzzled, because he's still a water elemental, even if he's no more present in-game. It would be like removing, for example, Oakwidow from the night elf category because she's not present in-game, or not? The same with Bale, and so on... --Forco (talk) 16:18, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Many items in WoW have level requirements before they can be used. General purpose bags do not. A beginning character can use a high level bag with many slots.

All of this contributes to a bag's value; the less restrictions on use, the more valuable, although number of slots carries more weight in determining value. Since common quality (white) items tend to have less restrictions than uncommon quality (green) items, some common quality (white) bags are more valuable than a few uncommon quality (green) bags of the same capacity — don't be mislead by the item's assigned quality color.

A couple of the 4 slot low-level quest reward bags in the game that are Bind on Pickup have no vendor value, and when you outgrow them they have to be destroyed; for example, the common.

All four are available from bag merchants, and the smaller ones are available from general goods merchants. These vendors are competitive with the auction house in the small bags, but become a progressively worse value for the larger bags. The 12 slot is very much more expensive than 12 slot mageweave bags in the auction house — you can get a 16 slot netherweave bag for as much or less on many servers.

  +
Unused files
These vended bags have the useful effect of providing an upper limit to the value and (indirectly) to the auction house pricing of smaller bags in the 6 slot to 10 slot range. They are also the only regular bags you can purchase while playing in a trial account. Players not yet comfortable with walking a low level character to their capital city for the auction house might initially want to buy a bag or two from a vendor.

I've always loved the work of the major contributors and I just want to say "thank you" for helping me clean up the articles I've been adding over the past week. I've just been snapping screenshots of every NPC I come across and slowly getting around to adding them as time permits. I always go back and look at the fixes you put in for me and it helps me learn about style and "where stuff goes." Hopefully, one of these days, I'll have a good enough hang of this that I won't leave you so much work to do. Anyways, thanks again for your patience and work. Ammo bags like quivers and ammo pouches can only hold ammunition (arrows or bullets respectively). Of course, this is only useful to characters who use ammunition: hunters, and with weapons training, rogues and warriors.

Count link
Identical ammunition stored in multiple slots in an ammo bag will be automatically re-equipped when a stack of ammo runs out. Ammo that is different in any way is not automatically equipped. This can lead to confusion or delays, so many players only store one kind of ammo in an ammo bag at a time.

Just pointing out, the Count link on your user page links to the "evil wiki who shall not here be named"

Essentially, an ammo bag is a hunter item. While rogues and warrior can, with weapon training, benefit from an ammo pouch, the truth is that they will probably choose to forgo carrying an ammo pouch. Hunters burn though quantities of ammunition. Rogues and warriors shoot occasionally to call an opponent out of a group. Since ammo bags are less versatile than conventional bags, rogues and warrior will generally prefer to have general purpose bag space holding a stack or two of ammo.

How do you do Warcraft 2 screenshots without crosshatching on minimap?
Hunters start with a six slot quiver, common, or ammo pouch, common, that holds the ammo of their starting ranged weapon.

  +
Hi, I saw your :File:Beetle_Island.jpg (compare to one of my screenshots: img220.imageshack.us/img220/4884/dareregionofthechanneli.png and was wondering, how do you do Warcraft 2 screenshots of the minimap without the crosshatching/fine grid put over on the minimap of areas not currently visible to make them darker?
Quivers and ammo pouches follow a similar size progression, ranging from the six slot hunter starting quiver or ammo pouch to the 24 slot gear, which is only usable by level 70 characters. Ammo bags with 10 slots and above have increasing level requirements to equip. Ammo stacks in stacks of 1000, so even a beginning ammo bag can hold 6000 rounds of ammo.

  +
Even when I use the cheat (press enter type 'showpath' then enter again, that one) it just displays all of the map and stuff that isn't currently being 'seen' by one of your people is greyed out/crosshatched out on the minimap. So not sure how you took that screenshot? Thanks for any info :)
(Ammo bags also tend to be larger than regular bags of the same item level, but since general purpose bags have no level restrictions, it may be easier to obtain regular bags bigger than your ammo bag.)

  +
Might be good to post the info on the wiki for others so it's common knowledge, especially if you know how to do the same for the other games like Warcraft 1/3 etc! I have only just been trying them out cos I was curious about the background story behind world of warcraft --Kittymew (talk) 12:30, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Ammo bags can be made by Leatherworkers, purchased from the auction house and vendors, or obtained as quest rewards. The source of each size increment of ammo bag is unique or a unique type ('crafted' or 'vended'), with minor exceptions. For the eight slot quiver and ammo pouch, there is a vendor version ( at Neutral), and a crafted version. The Alliance quest, Alliance Icon Small15 Vyrin's Revenge (2), Loch Modan, rewards the character with a choice of a ten slot quiver or ammo pouch.

Prior to Patch 3.1.0, ammo bags generally gave a Rate of Fire bonus of between 10 and 15 percent, shortening the cooldown on the Shoot or Auto Shot ability.

  +
I had put the Cataclysm shots in separate locations so the old ones would still be accessible. I can see the logic of what you did since the old version is in the file history, but it still seems more logical to have something we can link directly to and say "This is what the character looked like before Cataclysm." Not that the specifics of Named Guard #439's page matter in the long run, but still. --Bellocois (talk) 03:20, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

:If it was a completely new model or completely different look, then I'd say yes, keep an old image to see, but when the only difference is they added a tabard... that's not enough to keep both files. A soul bag is a bag used by warlocks to hold more Soul Shard than they would normally be able to carry in conventional containers.

  +
While I'm here, you tagged some images for deletion that are linked from my user page as being part of my (extended) to-do list. I did upload a bunch recently that I didn't create pages for or link to as needing pages, but I plan to remedy that in the next 24 hours or so. --Bellocois (talk) 03:32, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Soul Shards harvested by the Warlock are automatically stored in an equipped Soul Bag when acquired, making tedious Soul Shard housekeeping a thing of the past.

  +
:Oh no no, that is not the speedy delete tag. That is simply an unused image marker. I use it to keep track of images that are currently not being used in articles. It's also another way for users to see if articles are needed, by seeing there's an image in need of an article. I would never delete those. 03:34, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Only Soul Shards can be stored in Soul Bags. If you wish to convert a Soul Shard into any other type of inventory item (such as a Healthstone or Soulstone) you will need extra space in your normal bags to hold the new item.

  +
Where are they now?
Soul Bags range in size from 12 slots to 32 slots. The Soul Bag consumes a regular container slot, however, so it reduces the number of available slots for non-Soul Shard items, but contains more item slots than regular bags of equal level.

You could probably put this in the main space under an appropriate title, whatever that may be. It has the potential to draw significant attention in the way Horde bias unintentionally did when I created it. Actually, now that I mention that page, it's probably best that you don't move it, let alone let the forums near it. (Kidding. Soul Bags can be made by Tailors, purchased from the auction house, or obtained as quest rewards. The source of each size increment of ammo bag is unique or a unique type ("crafted"). Like general purpose bags, Soul Bags have no explicit level requirements. There are no vended Soul Bags.

  +
:Heh.. well I started off wanting to do this during the beta... but after getting into finally doing it... I saw that they were still leaving many NPCs out (to be added later) and with the phasing, I wouldn't be able to just fly through zones looking for specific things.. I'd have to quest through the zones. But new toons come after older toons... so eventually I'll get back to this. Heya, could you possibly move the article "Last Weeks Mammoth" to "Last Week's Mammoth"? I know it's only a minor typo, but I still find it somewhat annoying. WoWpedia might be more "human-made" than WoW-databases such as Wowhead which digs data directly, but it should still be on par with it when it comes to names! Also, if possible, it'd be nifty if you could make "Last Weeks Mammoth" redirect to the new page. Craft bags are not widely sold by vendors; even then, they are often sold at high prices on the Auction House. In Cataclysm, bags that you loot and are non-BoP will automatically take up a bag slot instead of landing in your inventory. You will still be able to "un-equip" the bag and trade it if it's not BoP.

Faction Icons

I was wondering if you could make more faction icons like this one Alliance but for the main enemy faction of the expansion, currently 2 which have defined icons(since i don't know what the heck happened in the Burning crusade), the Scourge and the Twilight Hammer, just those 2--Ashbear160 (talk) 00:38, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

The Main enemy factions only:

Twilights Hammer crest ScourgeCrest ...Pictures too big if anybody knows how to make them smaller plz fix it...

--Ashbear160 (talk) 00:41, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Not exactly sure why they would be needed... only reason Scryers and Aldor got them was because you could align yourself or be hostile with them. Whereas the Scourge and Twilight members would always be hostile, for the most part. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:16, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Categories

Ironforge Airport map

You tagged File:Ironforge-Airport.jpg as being a policy violation, but left no explanation that I could find. What is the problem? —MJBurrage(TC) 18:29, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

While I know the place is easily accessible by flying mount and a specific flight path, I believe that detailing the path that players can take that involved exploiting the world environment is still against our policy. That is why it's marked as a possible violation and not just deleted. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 23:06, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
How is it an exploit if anyone can walk the path shown? No add-ons, macros, etc. are required, just jumping over obstacles. —MJBurrage(TC) 23:18, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
To even start the path one would have to exploit the starting point.... the rest of it may require no effort, but the beginning does. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 23:21, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
How is jumping forward, and then jumping forward again from where you landed an exploit? —MJBurrage(TC) 23:23, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
It was an exploit prior to the cataclysm and an exploit now. I'm not going to argue about this. Nothing has changed. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 23:27, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
I am not trying to be argumentative, I really don't see how it is an exploit. Did Blizzard state this was an exploit? How is it any different than getting to Foggy MacKreel? —MJBurrage(TC) 23:30, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Cause he was intended to get to. Jumping down and climbing a mountain are two different things. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 23:32, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Where does it say that jumping in the mountains is considered an exploit? (real question, again not trying to be argumentative) —MJBurrage(TC) 23:36, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

How do you do Warcraft 2 screenshots without crosshatching on minimap?

Hi, I saw your File:Beetle_Island.jpg (compare to one of my screenshots: img220.imageshack.us/img220/4884/dareregionofthechanneli.png and was wondering, how do you do Warcraft 2 screenshots of the minimap without the crosshatching/fine grid put over on the minimap of areas not currently visible to make them darker?

Even when I use the cheat (press enter type 'showpath' then enter again, that one) it just displays all of the map and stuff that isn't currently being 'seen' by one of your people is greyed out/crosshatched out on the minimap. So not sure how you took that screenshot? Thanks for any info :)

It's been a long time since I uploaded that... I don't even know if I copied it from a badly named file or from battle.net. Either way, I didn't personally take the image. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:53, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Scout Galiaan and friends

I had put the Cataclysm shots in separate locations so the old ones would still be accessible. I can see the logic of what you did since the old version is in the file history, but it still seems more logical to have something we can link directly to and say "This is what the character looked like before Cataclysm." Not that the specifics of Named Guard #439's page matter in the long run, but still. --Bellocois (talk) 03:20, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

If it was a completely new model or completely different look, then I'd say yes, keep an old image to see, but when the only difference is they added a tabard... that's not enough to keep both files. The image history can be viewed if users want to see them without the tabard. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 03:23, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Oh no no, that is not the speedy delete tag. That is simply an unused image marker. I use it to keep track of images that are currently not being used in articles. It's also another way for users to see if articles are needed, by seeing there's an image in need of an article. I would never delete those. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! You could probably put this in the main space under an appropriate title, whatever that may be. It has the potential to draw significant attention in the way Horde bias unintentionally did when I created it. Actually, now that I mention that page, it's probably best that you don't move it, let alone let the forums near it. (Kidding. Sort of! :-P) --Bellocois (talk) 08:05, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Heh.. well I started off wanting to do this during the beta... but after getting into finally doing it... I saw that they were still leaving many NPCs out (to be added later) and with the phasing, I wouldn't be able to just fly through zones looking for specific things.. I'd have to quest through the zones. But new toons come after older toons... so eventually I'll get back to this. I'd just prefer to being able to control it on my userspace, rather than letting it run rampant like Horde/Alliance bias =P. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! Old Mammoth

WrathOfDeathfrost (talk) 22:39, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey Coobra, the Alliance-Horde War article is constantly changed to include Malfurion as an Alliance commander, while hee actually doesn't take part in the conflict similar to Lady Liadrin, Hamuul Runetotem, Varok Saurfang or even Thrall who are not listed. Could you please visit Talk:Alliance–Horde War and discuss. I really think he doesn't fit there, as he is more neutral as leader of Cenarion Circle (just like the 4 Horde commanders who simply do not take part in the war eventhough they're in the Horde). Forsaken

Should i change

"Among the tauren the Forsaken found a champion in Magatha Grimtotem, who argued in favor of the alliance between the two peoples and who continues to work closely with them. Magatha claims she merely wants to aid the Forsaken in their quest to redeem themselves, although there are many who believe her true motives to be something very different and much less innocent."

with newer source:

"The kind-hearted tauren of Thunder Bluff proved to be the most promising contact. Specifically, Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem saw the potential for redemption in Sylvanas’ people, even though he was fully aware of the Forsaken’s sinister nature. Thus, the tauren convinced Warchief Thrall, despite his misgivings, to forge an alliance of convenience between the Forsaken and the Horde."

Mountfooter changes

I would like to see a couple of changes to the Mountfooter subpages:

  1. Skeletal Horse mounts - currently Mountfooter/Skeletal lists the category as "skeletal", which is already stretched to include the ebon blade DK mount. It absolutely breaks when you include the raptor. There are too many Skeletal Horses specifically to break that category that way. I would see them moved to Unique for now.
  2. I would see all the sub-page mount links re-jiggered to remove the icons. The icons are only useful if there's a distinct difference, and for the most part there isn't one.

Rather than ask forgiveness, I thought I would ask your opinion on them first. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:32, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Template:Alliance Sidebar

Hey there Coobra, i'm trying to keep the pages clean and up to date, i just see Gabrirt post anything on side bars thinking anyone can be on there without a reason or role they have to be up and just throws up anything in the Alliance up there, Hope you understand im doing the edits for the good of the pages and everyone. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by ArbiterX122591 (talk · contr).

Just for the record i removed the titles from the leaders because:
A)They're bloating the template
B)They're unnecessary since you can click on the link and see their title

Someone removed all the race icons from the alliance page before you protected it... could you add them back?--Ashbear160 (talk) 23:01, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
(Inserting) To what icons are you referring? The infobox is full of them. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 00:33, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
And substitute this
  • The children of Cenarius, work closely with the night elves throughout Kalimdor.
    • Some Frost nymphs of Stars' Rest
      • Some Frost nymphs are within the Alliance, the most notable is Sarendryana.
For
  • The children of Cenarius, work closely with the night elves.
That's it if you can--Ashbear160 (talk) 23:05, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Ashbear160 i love how you really fixed up the side bars and made them stand out :) Hope you got some more great ideas and continue to protect the page like me, Admins can't be everywhere up to us to keep them clean for them.--ArbiterX122591 (talk) 23:05, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Quite the hypocrite since you reverted the same type of edit. --g0urra[T҂C] 00:44, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I personally think the Admins, should lock the Alliance & Horde Pages and have someone in the adminstration, play around with those posts and have pple submit info, so there is only accurate information. Spam or inaccruate is turned away —The preceding unsigned comment was added by ArbiterX122591 (talk · contr).

If I had the time, I would... but I don't so I won't. The article has gotten out of hand, and I tried to help repair before, but I can't monitor it daily and protecting the page forever is against the spirit of the wiki. As much as I hate to be the bad guy, I banned Ashbear160 for three days. This was getting out of hand.--SWM2448 00:36, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm not arguing or anything, but my point of view never thought Ashbear160 was doing anything wrong, he seemed to always make the Sidebar look more clean, standout and look alot better. I think Gabrirt should get a major ban for the Alliance and Horde Pages cause he seemed to always just throw anything on the page and so many people including Coobraand myself had to reapir what he did and he continued over and over. and should i get a Minior or Major Ban whatever you choose, cause were i have always un-done his posts everytime i seem he had edited and thats against the rules of the Wiki, but did for the good of the page. We are the only two who seem to fight and argue over stuff on the page and we didnt recieve any bans and most of problem was infact us .. so i will leave it to you Admins on your decisions.
