This quest is the [Red Scepter Shard] fork of [The Scepter of the Shifting Sands] quest chain to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Players must have completed  [60] The Charge of the Dragonflights (and thus have or better reputation with the Brood of Nozdormu) before  File:IconSmall Red.gif Vaelastrasz will offer players this quest.

Players must also complete the [Blue Scepter Shard] and [Green Scepter Shard] forks before  File:IconSmall Bronze.gif Anachronos will offer the conclusion of the quest chain,  [60] The Might of Kalimdor.

Objectives

Slay  File:IconSmall Black.gif Nefarian and recover the Red Scepter Shard. Return the Red Scepter Shard to Anachronos at the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. You have 5 hours to complete this task.

Notes

It is advised that players talk to Vaelastraz to pick up this quest before the event is started. There is a very short period of time after someone starts the event while Vael is still friendly if it is still necessary to pick up the quest.
