Template revamp
{{cost}} has been revamped for 1.14. It also uses {{documentation}} now.
You'll notice there's a lot less documented options. Cost has gotten too big and unmanagable (we've had this discussion before). It's time to make a move to {{costitem}} for items that are only very rarely used as currency and the tier tokens.
All of the old options are still in the template, but not in the documentation. As soon as I get an up-to-date xmldump I plan to have my bot do a global find-and-replace on {{cost|<deprecated option>=#}} with {{costitem|#|Item name}}. --k_d3 18:58, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- Okay... nearly half a year later, but progress. The tier tokens are gone. All of them. Nearly all the custom (name/icon/cost trio) uses are gone. Working my way through the non-pvp/emblem params as I type this.
- Soon as the jobqueue clears and pages using deprecated cost parameters category stays empty the deprecated options will die. Yay for simplification. --k_d3 02:39, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
How far do you intend to go? IMO, having started down this path, the only thing that should be left in {{cost}} are things that are never represented as items. I cannot tell, then, if failing to deprecate pvp/emblem tokens is simply a method of partitioning the work, or a decision not to deprecate them. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:15, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
- I'm stopping where I'm at now. Stuff tracked in the currency pane stays. Gold stays. Honor/arena/achievement points stay. This way we've got a line to set. --k_d3 23:26, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
- shrug* Okay, you're the one doing the work. OTOH, the [Strand of the Ancients Mark of Honor] compares unfavorably to [Brewfest Prize Token] on "number of uses", equally on "represented by an item" and is only superior in "is among the things represented on the currency pane in-game". Sure, you've set a line. I just set the line a little more narrowly. (Yes, that phrase makes no sense mathematically.) ... and am not particularly interested in taking over from you. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:39, September 25, 2009 (UTC)
Missing PvP Currencies
It seems we're missing [Strand of the Ancients Mark of Honor] and [Venture Coin] from this, if anyone would like to please add them. --User:Jpsblue/Sig 16:06, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- See {{costitem}}. --Pcj (T •C ) 16:54, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- It's a consistency thing: the other battleground marks of honor are still in {{cost}}. (And I should look at dates more often.) -- foxlit (talk) 20:57, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Emblem of Triumph out of date
I can't edit this page, but it should be Holy_SummonChampion instead of Holy_EmpowerChampion. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 06:41, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
sks error
Using this template for sks produces an extra close bracket at the end: 300 Burzolog (talk) 02:37, January 12, 2010 (UTC)
File name capitalization
Due to the conversion of all icons to lowercase filenames, some icons do not show properly with this template. Should be an easy fix for anyone with permissions to do so. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:50, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Um... A recent change seems to have broken things... Asking for Emblems of Triumph (eot=nn) currently register as "Emblems of Frost". --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:44, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm... Stranger than that. The LINK is to Emblem of Triumph. I don't get an image, though... I DO get text: "Emblem of Frost". The icon (spell_holy_summonchampion.png) is one of those that are currently borked. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:52, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
IoC Marks
Isle of Conquest marks are missing the "16px" modifier. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:43, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
Honor
Is there any chance that the spaces before and after the icon can be removed for Honor? Because the icon is so slender, with the spaces it looks very isolated from the amount. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 18:24, July 29, 2010 (UTC)
Cataclysm points revamp
Given that honor, conquest, heroism, valor points are not items and will be replacing Arena points and emblems, perhaps it's time to add them to this list? Thio: Talk - Contributions 19:00, August 1, 2010 (UTC)
- Noticed that also early this morning. I was going to update it myself–as the code looks pretty straight forward–but it's locked to standard editors. —MJBurrage(T•C) 01:41, October 16, 2010 (UTC)
- I think that Justice Points and Valor Points should be added to the {{cost}}-templat as well. Hans Kamp (talk) 10:14, October 19, 2010 (UTC)
Wrapping
As the template exists now, text-wrapping is permitted between a number and its symbol. This means that in tables or paragraphs the number can be split from the symbol. Examples below:
So, instead of sometimes seeing: | 5000 | you always see: | 5000 |
Could someone with the correct permissions add "white-space:nowrap;" CSS to the template to prevent this? —MJBurrage(T•C) 17:20, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Point/Points
Almost all of the links in this template link to "XYZ Point", e.g. Justice Point, Honor Point, etc. However, these are all redirect pages to the appropriate pages: [Justice Points], [Honor Points], etc. The template is protected so I can't just fix the links. Colanai (talk) 08:06, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Guild Achievement Points
I'd like to suggest a "Guild Achievement Points" currency be added to the {{cost}} template. The icon/points are separate from regular achievement points. —Tindelli (talk) 00:56, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- As I stated on Wowwiki when you requested this: Theres no reason to add Guild Achievement Points to this template as Guild/Achievement points aren't currency. This template is for currency only. Ressy (talk) 00:59, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't see the WoWWiki respond until you mentioned it. I only suggested it since Achievement points themselves were already listed as a currency. I'll just use the normal achievement point currency for the guild achievements.
