A polearm is a large two-handed edged weapon, usually in the form of a long metal or wood pole a bit taller than a person, with an axe-like head. Sometimes a polearm will have a spear-like point or mace-like protrusions, but in combination so as to not qualify as a spear and too long a handle to be a mace. Polearms can be trained by hunters, paladins, and warriors starting at level 20.

The list of trainers can be found here: Weapons Trainers.

Polearms generally attack very slowly, but cause large amounts of damage on a hit. Polearms are the least common of all melee weapons.

It is a good idea to create One-handed Polearms (spears)in WoW, because they have been important weapons all history: in Ancient Times(Greeks were masters of spears), in Middle Ages (it was the main weapon of Knights) and Modern Ages (it was succefully used by Spanish Army in XVI and XVII centurys, been the most powerful army in the world).

They could be Main-hand only, because obviously no one fights (or have fought) holding a spear at off hand (it's not logical, you need strength for that), so its held in main hand while holding a shield or a weapon in off hand.

They could be only avaiable to Warriors and Paladins (and hero classes who logically could hold them). They could be avaiable to Hunters too (and Beastmaster hero class, if ever it exists).

A few notable polearms:

  1. Inv spear 04 [Ice Barbed Spear]
  2. Inv weapon halberd ahnqiraj [Barb of the Sand Reaver]
  3. Inv spear 08 [Grand Marshal's Glaive]
