Mana wyrm
Mana wyrms are floating, serpentine creatures found in the blood elven lands and some Outland zones such as Netherstorm. They closely resemble the eels found various bodies of water.
Similar in appearance to the nether dragon, they are attracted to and feed off of arcane energies, and so have been seen in Quel'thalas and most likely other worlds throughout the Great Dark Beyond. They are generally considered more of a nuisance than a real threat, but in large numbers they can be very deadly to magical creatures and magic-users.
Non-Combat Pets
The Consortium has managed to acquire young Mana Wyrmlings for sale as vanity pets to adventurers, albeit for a hefty fee. Dealer Rashaad is the only known seller of these, and he can be found within the Netherstorm.
The Dalaran Factions participating in the Argent Tournament, the Sunreavers and the Silver Covenant both offer a similar creature called a 
[Shimmering Wyrmling]. These pets resemble the mana wyrms found in Elven Lands like Quel'thalas. They may be purchased with the 
[Champion's Seal] offered for participating in the tournament. [1] [2]
