Gonk is likely named after the player Gonktarget, who is an orc hunter with the guild Elitist Jerks and is a frequent poster on the EJ forms. Gonktarget has been very outspoken about his hated of druids for years. Naming the NPC who is responsible for the creation of troll druids Gonk is likely an example of Blizzard poking some fun at a member of it’s player base.

* Bleed effects/DoTs continue to damage the target without breaking Maim. Therefore, using Pounce and a combination of Mangle(cat) and Rake will not only allow you to stun the target with decent damage, but also your bleeds will continue to damage the target.

* This is an incapacitation, NOT A STUN. It will stop spellcasting, but any damage that is not a bleed/DOT may stop the effect.

* Maim does not directly interrupt spells: incapacitation does, but many mobs are immune. Vengeful Gladiator's Dragonhide Gloves add a counterspell-lock to Maim that is applied independently from the rest of the effect.

* Maim produces a very distinctive noise.

*A four combo point Maim gives you enough time to heal yourself with a Healing Touch, or give your energy enough time to regenerate for a Shred. Also in 1vs1 you may have time to Prowl and Ravage or Pounce again.

Gonk, the Great Hunter, is a raptor loa in ancient Zandalarian tales, he's mentioned by Zen'tabra as the loa that taught them how to reconnect to the spirits in a different way, thus allowing them to serve all the nature spirits at the same instead of one at a time as they did as loa priests (witch doctors). Through this method they became druids.[1]
