Talent improvements
The [Molten Shields] talent gave Fire Ward a 30% chance at max rank to reflect fire spells back at the caster.
Fire Ward benefited from the mana cost reductions from the talents [Pyromaniac] and Elemental Precision.
Notes
Fire Ward absorbed an additional 10% of the caster's bonus Spell Damage.
Fire Ward could have been dispelled as a magic debuff.
Damage reduction due to spell resistances or [Dampen Magic]-like effects was calculated before damage would be absorbed.
Fire Ward shared the same cooldown timer as [Frost Ward]. Using one ward would have triggered the cooldown of the other, meaning only one of the two wards could have been active at the same time.
Patch Changes
Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Replaced with [Mage Ward]
Patch 2.3.2 (2008-01-08): [Cold Snap] would reset the cooldowns of both Fire Ward and [Frost Ward]. This behavior was removed.
Patch 2.4.1 (2008-04-01): The talent [Improved Fire Ward], which granted a 20% chance to reflect fire spells, has been replaced with [Molten Shields].
