[[Category:mage abilities]][[Category:mage abilities]]
Ice Barrier is a mage spell that shields the caster, absorbing all damage, similar to a priest's [Power Word: Shield] spell. The shield absorbs physical and magical damage, including damage from active DoTs. While shielded, spells will not loose casting time due to push-back interruption, however counterspell and silence effects will still pass through. The amount of damage absorbed is increased by 10% of the caster's frost spell damage. The damage shield stacks with the mage spells [Mana Shield], [Fire Ward] and [Frost Ward], and stacks with other damage shield spells such as [Power Word: Shield]. Ice Barrier is self-cast only.
Rank | Mana Cost | Damage Absorbed | Level | Cost |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 305 | 438 | 40[1] | Talent |
2 | 360 | 549 | 46 | 15 30 |
3 | 420 | 678 | 52 | 17 10 |
4 | 480 | 818 | 58 | 18 90 |
5 | 495 | 977 | 64 | 22 50 |
- Minimum level to acquire the talent.
Past changes
Ice Barrier received an overhaul in Patch 1.11, when mages received a talent review. The spell was changed to stack with [Power Word: Shield] (which previously overwrote it), had its cooldown reduced from 2 minutes to 30 seconds, gained the benefit of frost spell damage, and was prioritized to absorb damage before [Mana Shield], thus saving mana when using both shields.
