This is only a pointer quest, directing the player inside the dungeon Utgarde Keep. It is not, in fact, a prerequisite.
Objectives
Scout Valory wants you to investigate the sounds of battle coming from the northeast of Wyrmskull Village.
Description
It's come at great cost, but we've completed our inspection of the site.
The news isn't good. Nearly everyone has been slain or captured. Only a few veteran guards remain unaccounted for.
The scouts have done all we can here. You must pick up where we've left off.
Sounds of a skirmish are coming from up the hill to the northeast. Have a look, <class>. We can only hope there are some who have survived, and that they may have some intel we can use against this enemy.
Rewards
Completion
Late though ye may be, it's good to see a friendly face.
Now stop standing around with yer thumb up yer nose, there's work to be done!

Objectives
Present the Vrykul Scroll of Ascension near the Thane's Pyre to call him out and slay him. Afterward, due to the nature of the ritual, you're sure that Father Levariol at Westguard Keep will be interested in seeing the scroll.
- Halfdan the Ice-Hearted slain
- [Vrykul Scroll of Ascension] (provided)
Description
This huge scroll is made from dragon skin. Unfurling its more-than-ten-foot length, you can see that the images painted upon its scaly surface depict a mysterious vrykul ritual.
A vrykul thane, surrounded by angelic-looking beings, ascends into the heavens. A mysterious, darkened figure looms large in the picture's background.
A tingling in your gut tells you that the thane of Skorn is about to do this. You must stop it! A large pyre sits at the top of Skorn in front of the thane's lodge.

Progress
Yes? How may I help you, my child?
Completion
Yes, my <son/daughter>, that is ominous-looking, and you obviously had the right of it.
Thank you for bringing this scroll to me. I am very keen to study its implications. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that these vrykul have a way to transcend death; at least those that are worthy.
By defeating the Winterskorn thane, you proved him unworthy. The Light only knows what he would have become, and what terror he might have rained down upon us, had you not slain him.
Notes
This item will drop from one of the pathing casters. The bonfire is up top. Be certain to bomb the towers on the way up and then fight towards the center. Don't stay in range of the towers in case they respawn! Clear some room, but the whole top area does not need to be devoid of mobs when the scroll is presented.
Script event:
- Halfdan the Ice-Hearted yells: You think I do not know what you are trying to do? You think I haven't been watching you?
- Halfdan the Ice-Hearted yells: You will not stop my ascension, tiny <race>. Time to die!
- After his death
- Val'kyr Observer yells: How unfortunate, Halfdan.
- Val'kyr Observer yells: We find you unworthy of ascension, Halfdan. Let your soul know oblivion!

Objectives
Captain Adams has asked you to kill 15 Gjalerbron Warriors, 8 Gjalerbron Rune-casters, and 8 Gjalerbron Sleep-watchers. Afterward, return to him at Westguard Keep.
- Gjalerbron Warrior slain: (15)
- Gjalerbron Rune-Caster slain (8)
- Gjalerbron Sleep-Watcher: slain: (8)
Description
And now we have a different problem. My scouts that have lived to return have informed me that the vrykul are up to no good at their main fortress to the north.
They call the place Gjalerbron, though you'd pronounce the 'Gj' as if it were an 'Sh'. Odd creatures.
But that's not important; what is, is that you get up there and put an end to the lives of as many of those creatures as you can while trying to figure out what they're up to.
I know that I can count on you, <name>.

Description
These plans detail an imminent attack upon Westguard Keep. It would appear that the frost wyrm, Glacion, who circles overhead is to be used for the offensive.
Surely Mage-Lieutenant Malister would be of some assistance in this matter. Deliver the plans to him at the keep to the south.

Description
Originally I came down here to investigate some rumors about artifacts to be dug up. I knew that there were murlocs along the coast here, but I never in a million years thought I'd see this.
<The explorer pokes his head out to look around the tree.>
The Scourge are out there, and they're changing murlocs, and anything else they can get their hands on, into the walking dead!

Objectives
Watcher Moonleaf at Steel Gate has advised you to cleanse yourself of Your Inner Turmoil through meditation at the Frostblade Shrine.
- Cleansed of Your Inner Turmoil
Description
Of late I've had nightmares concerning a worg named Ulfang. He has called out for help, and you must go to him.
However, you do not have the means to speak with him, or walk amongst the other worgs. I know a way.
But first, you must cleanse your inner turmoil through meditation.
There is a shrine that sits at the top of Frostblade Peak, far to the northeast. A single path leads up to it from the western base of the mountain.
Meditate there to cleanse yourself and then return to me.
Rewards
Progress
Did you find inner peace at the shrine? Is your turmoil gone?
Completion
Already I can sense the change within you.
Are you ready for what comes next?
Notes
Head west of Fort Wildervar and look for a small path which begins at [53.5, 8.0]. Follow it east. At the top of the mountain ([61.1, 2.1]), right-click on the altar to meditate, then fight Your Inner Turmoil.
- Upon clicking on the altar
- Your Inner Turmoil, a shadow version of yourself, appears.
- Your Inner Turmoil whispers: You think that you can get rid of me through meditation?
- Your Inner Turmoil whispers: Fool! I will destroy you and finally become that which has been building inside of you all of these years!
- It attacks you physically! Upon defeating it...
- Your Inner Turmoil whispers: You cannot defeat me. I'm an inseparable part of you!
- Your Inner Turmoil whispers: NOOOOOOOoooooooooo!
Upon being cleansed, you have a 3 minute feather fall buff, that can be used to simply jump off and glide back to town with your soul lightened.

- Runed Stone Giant Corpse Analyzed: (4)
- Suggested Players [2]
- [Runeseeking Pick] (provided)
Description
To the east, at Giants' Run, rune-inscribed stone giants have started to migrate north toward Frostblade Peak. What their ultimate destination is, I do not know.
The glowing runes inscribed in the stone flesh of the giants guide them on their journey.
Use this pick to deactivate the runes on the giants' corpses and return with your findings.
Rewards

Completion
<Researcher Aderan listens to your findings.>
The runes for "north" and "west" appeared multiple times? There's a highly reinforced command to move in that direction, but the runes are more than propulsion. Something is attracting them, but what?
Notes
Giants are soloable only with high DPS or good kiting. However, by using the companion stone giant elemental from 'The Rune of Command', kiting is a whole lot easier. The elemental has a 4 second stun with a short CD, hits hard and with proper threat management, can tank the giant while you heal up. Beware of the giants that have a shadow buff. Their DPS is significantly higher.
Megalith spawns to north-east of the base and killing him can be way easier than facing the other giants as he does not have the stacking Dot that the others have. He also have a pretty fast respawn time which makes the quest easy for soloing. Note that you'll have to kill him 5 times to complete the chain, so if he takes too much out of you, bring a friend along and kill the regular giants.

Description
To the east, at Giants' Run, rune-inscribed stone giants have started to migrate north toward Frostblade Peak. I know nothing of their goals, nor of their destination.
The glowing runes inscribed in the stone flesh of the giants guide them on their journey. Fell some of these giants.

The runes for "north" and "west" appeared over and over? I'm not an expert in these runes, but the repetition suggests a strong command.

Strategies
With a kiting class, there is an easy way to solo this quest. Complete the quest in the same area up to [10-30] The Rune of Command. YOu will need to command a Stone Giant of yours to complete it. The Stone Giant will aggro and attack other mobs, including the Runed Stone Giants.
Kite and let your Stone Giant attack the elites. They hit for about 200 damage, and will bash occasionally, allowing you to hit the Runed Stone Giant or heal.

<class>, we will not suffer them to create more of their kind, especially not from murlocs! There is a ramp down to the beach just northwest of the camp. See to it that you deal with the Scourge in a timely fashion!

A satisfactory job to be certain, yet somehow I sense that there's something else we should be doing to stop the efforts of the Scourge on that beach.

Objectives
Scuttle Frostprow wants you to obtain Big Roy's Blubber as the main ingredient for her magic swabbin' soap. Return to her at on the eastern pirate ship at Scalawag Point when you have it.
Description
Yeah, I got to get the deck swabbed spotless afore Mad Jonah comes 'round. An' I ain't gonna do it on my hands and knees neither!
Problem is, we're all outta soap. That's more your problem than mine though, mate. Being the newbie 'round here, I got a special trip for ya to make.
Up on the northwest coast of this island, there's a whole mess o' sea lions. Amongst the nearby ice floes you'll find the alpha bull, Big Roy. Bring me back his blubber and I'll magic-up the best soap ya ever seen!
Rewards
This is dependent on your reputation.
Progress
Where's that blubber? An' don't try to tell me he ain't got none either.
That Big Roy's so damned big it's a wonder he can still galumph around!
Completion
Ew, that's a stink if I ever smelled one!
Go on now, put it down here. I'll cast my spell and she'll be swabbin' soap for sure!
Notes
Big Roy paths, check by the northwest edge of the isle. When turning in, a short script event happens:
- Scuttle Frostprow says: There we go, <name>! This fat'll do the trick fer sure! And now for some real swabbin'!
- Scuttle Frostprow summons in about 30 mops and buckets.
- Drunken Northsea Pirate says: What ...hic?!
- Scuttle Frostprow says: Look at 'em go! Spotless!
- Drunken Northsea Pirate throws his cup of grog overboard towards land.
- Drunken Northsea Pirate says: That's it... no more grog for me!
