:Morph, he's an admin. Show a little bit of respect please. {{User:Howbizr/sign}} 12:58 PM, 12 Aug 2009 (EDT)

::An admin that can Read I am sure and can give the respect of explanations as to why they do things, we are required to give them and so are they - they are NOT above the guildlines any more than I am, they just have more abilities (on this wikia) than I do. -- {{:User:Jrooksjr/SigX}} 17:12, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +
:::Ya confused me, Morph. You would have been more clear if you had stated the problem using the then-output of the template, instead of using the template to illustrate the problem. I have to assume that since 1.1 and 1.10 above show different dates, whatever the problem was has been corrected.
  +
  +
:::And I have to disagree with Howbizr... "He's a fellow editor. Show a little bit of respect please." would be appropriate, though. Don't start out with an insult, while it may be a comfort, it doesn't actually move your case forward. --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 18:37, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

::::My thought on admins, and the same for guild officers, and other voluntary positions of power, is these people ''usually'' have earned them through donating their own time. The key word being donated, for free. But that wasn't meant to say (as you imply) that other editors don't deserve respect, only admins. I think admins should just get normal respect + 1. {{User:Howbizr/sign}} 3:45 PM, 13 Aug 2009 (EDT)
  +
  +
::::I would normaly tend to agree with you BUT as with anything else they are Human and many do FORGET how they got there. It is the same as if your Boss or any other High position person tells you to do something that is illegal (that does NOT make them right in telling you to do so). Being an admim does mean they have worked for that position or done something to deserve the position but does not make what they do RIGHT just because they are in that position. -- {{:User:Jrooksjr/SigX}} 20:03, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

== Talent Tooltips ==
  +
  +
You recently edited the [[Template:Infobox talent]] and [[Template:Talenttip]] pages, removing the name, ranks, talent_req, and points_req fields from the tooltip. I am wondering why you did this, as this information is very important. Also, could help me get the talent tooltips to display properly? I would like them to look like the tests on the Template:Talenttip page. [[User:Gethe|Gethe]] ([[User talk:Gethe|talk]]) 16:41, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +
:That is important info, because where those tooltips should be displayed won't have that info available. But they won't appear, so could you help me fix them so they will? Which documentation page are you referring to? [[User:Gethe|Gethe]] ([[User talk:Gethe|talk]]) 17:04, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +
::No it's not used anywhere, but that can change if it's fixed and people become aware of it. Wouldn't you like to see a tooltip telling you all about a talent instead of having to click a link? If this site has tooltips for items, quests, npcs and more, why not have one for talents? [[User:Gethe|Gethe]] ([[User talk:Gethe|talk]]) 17:27, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

== Categories on Tier 9 items ==
  +
  +
I am now confused? you are removing the [[:Category:Tier 9 armor sets]] and [[:Category:<class> sets]] from the individual pieces - I went thru and added most of those categories already because if you look at the category pages they list each piece as well as the SETS (the sets are 1st becuse they have a space in their categorization parameter and the individual pieces are in normal alpha order ) so if the categories I am doing are wrong then ALL of the other [[:Category:Tier 8 armor sets]] and earlier sets as well as the Arena sets too. -- {{:User:Jrooksjr/SigX}} 18:23, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +
:I agree that {{t|settip}} should do some or most of the categorizations, with a little reworks to class paramater, change it to class1= class2= ... class5= it could then even catagories them into class sets as well - but at the moment it does not do any categorizations ( I wish it did buecause there are too many categories to remember the corrct names for because some of the locations have s's and some do not [[:Category:World of Warcraft plate <location>(s) armor]] and at the moment the from what I understand all of the ''World of Warcraft'' Prefixes are supposed to be '''WoW''' prefixes - the template could easily fix that as well - I will leave that template for you all to do since it affects so many items. -- {{:User:Jrooksjr/SigX}} 20:35, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +
:I think you showed me a wrong example - because I had that page already categoriezed ( you just duplicated the categories with <nowiki><noinclude>[[Duplicated Categories]]</noinclude></nowiki> -- but {{t|Settip}} could do most all of the categorization for you if it was set up correctly - that is why I refuse to add some of the categories to some of the pages because 1 I have no idea which categories to add ( and I cant look at the items categories they are so Confusing and ( criss-cross-linked ) so I have no idea where to place them - that is why you see me do a lot of changes ( mostly I have to keep adding new elements because Item 1 has Category a, b, c on it - so I duplicate that on the same type items -- then I find Item 2 that has category a, b, d, e - so I have to add category c to this item and then go back to Item 1 and add categories d and e then Item 3 only had 1 of the 5 categories on it -- there is so much inconsistency that I gave up on all but primary categories -- where as a template doing the categorizations would correct so much of the inconsistancies -- {{:User:Jrooksjr/SigX}} 21:40, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

----
  +
I am going to keep adding [[Category:<Class> sets]] to the pieces of individual pieces of armor, because that is how all of the sets are doen (go look at [[:Category:Druid sets]] (you will see INDIVIDUAL pieces from [[:Category:Dungeon Set 1 armor sets]], [[:Category:Dungeon Set 2 armor sets]], [[:Category:Dungeon Set 3 armor sets]], all of the arena sets as well as all of the Tier sets. So, unless you are going to go and remove each individual piece from those sets from each Class set, then I am going to continue the practice previously set (You are the only one not doing this - does not make you in the right). -- {{:User:Jrooksjr/SigX}} 18:02, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I've sorted the instances by time because that's what the entire topic is for but there's little else I can do.

Also I increased the time to do some of the instances by 1-2 minutes to remove the need for decimals eg. 22.5 mins

== Question from Tripleblue52 ==

Where could I suggest a change that I believe should be added to the Ice Block page? I suggested a change to the paragraph that speaks of ice blocking with the flag, but I also wanted to add that you can ice block while silenced. The only reason I didn't add it to the page 'cause I was afraid it would sound awkward, and not really part of the article. Would you suggest I just add it to ice block's talk page and ask for someone to add it in to the article? Check to see if A'noob is connecting to WoWwiki from the same IP address as Loremunster did? The page I contested recently was put up against my knowledge, and has been on your site for roughly 3 years apparently. I find it very suspect that on the day I discover it and correct its errors someone immediately starts altering it and seeking to essentially "hide" it. Can you please investigate this and if merited deal with it? I dont actually want to know the outcome, but just saying. Seems pretty convient that someone would care so suddenly. [[Illumination (staff)|Illumination]] vs [[Enlightenment (staff)|Enlightenment]] ... you've called out the former as "the horde version of Enlightenment" on [[Illumination (staff)|its page]]. The [[Twin Val'kyr]] page lists Illumination as "the heroic 10 man version of Trial of the Crusader".

I go to Armory and I find entirely different results: that there is one drop table for [[Fjola Lightbane]] and a separate one for [[Eydis Darkbane]]; that both tables are identical between Normal and Heroic, excepting a [[Crusader Orb]] on heroic. Thanks for your help with our little guild wiki.<br>
  +
And for pointing me to talk pages... I'm learning!!
  +
  +
If you do have a few moments spare, I was wondering if you could maybe give me a few pointers...<br>
  +
So number one: why, despite me uploading an updated picture (a very minor edit), does the guildbox still show the old one? Also is there any way of permanently deleting pictures I no longer use? I hate the thought of cluttering up the servers.<br>
  +
The other thing is, how does an article title (in this case Guild:The Earth Walkers (Darkmoon Faire EU)) become searchable for more than just an exact match? For example typing in "Earth Walkers" would suggest a link to the article. Does it depend on hits, or are there some tags I can use? Or is this just straight up impossible for player created things?
  +
  +
It's more than likely that the answers are already out there somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find them. WoWwiki's a bit confusing to navigate around at the moment!

== Correspondance from the Front ==
  +
  +
I noted, and reverted, your change to [[A Ragged Page]]. I found this set of quests, and the pages on their associated items, to be implemented in a haphazard and inconsistent way. Particularly, I found references to "the unopened items" that were never implemented, references to "the opened items" that intended to point to the unopened ones, and so on. The majority of this set of quests had no such "opened/unopened" item difference already established, so I altered the remainder to conform.
  +
  +
As the event referred to has gone again, to return only on Blizzard's whim; and as many of the pages that WERE implemented were still stubbed, I submit that no, adding separate item pages is not really necessary or helpful to anyone who wants to look up the items of those names. In fact, I (and then you, following me) may be the sole people to look at those pages in months. That is, nobody cares save me and thee.
  +
  +
If you truly want to have a separate page for the opened and unopened letters, I invite you to alter the lot of those pages, including useful descriptions for the relevant pages, alter links as appropriate, and provide cross-links between related items. Falling short of this, I would consider to be damage. While I may disagree with your "one DB object per page" philosophy, as long as you provide a consistent and developed set of pages, I will not object to your proposed change. --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 21:53, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

::::Though... come to think of it, you'll need to encourage people to NOT add new tokens (eg Emblem of Frost) to {{t|cost}}. :::::I've found (through using it) that it works well for the "Vendor=" on a tooltip, but much less well in the main body of text. Largely because the icon for an item is not necessarily unique, and in body text, more detail without requiring a mouse-over seemed vastly preferable. In the tooltipbox, where brevity is a virtue, though, it's cool. Probably cool in tables, too, but I haven't gone there yet. --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 00:34, January 7, 2010 (UTC)

What is the reasoning behind the mass removal of {{t|RPG}}? Is it a category thing, or was it deemed useless?--{{User:Sandwichman2448/Sig}} 20:48, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +
:Both. It's better to categorize it under each source book instead of the general one ([[:Category:Warcraft RPG]]). --{{User:Gourra/Sig2}} 21:01, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +
::It could be redone to not add a category. On the second point, I think it should be used like a {{t|RPG-section}} tag, but for when the entire page is of purely Warcraft RPG content. I feel it should be kept mainly because of Scrolls of Lore's mentality of canon (and subsequent whining because of that mentality), and how we are corrupting "lore noobs" into believing the RPG is canon. I do not really care, but on the off chance they are right, it would not hurt to keep the 'only in the RPG' disclaimer (and I liked Baggins).--{{User:Sandwichman2448/Sig}} 21:11, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +
:::So from the temporary RPG category you want to make ''another'' temporary RPG category so to keep track of which articles that has been corrected?
  +
  +
:::If you're confused, I'll explain it like this: I find an article that has {{t|RPG}}, and may need to have it's {{t|cite}} converted, so I convert it. The citation is then converted but the template is still there. If I remove it then it won't show that the information is purely from the RPG, and if I remove the temporary category I won't be able to keep track of the articles that needs to "fixed". --{{User:Gourra/Sig2}} 21:27, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
  +
  +

Everytime I delete that, because it's pointless and I was shot down by two guys, it keeps getting readded and viewing the history, it showed you undid that. Any reason why? == A Lesson to Learn ==
  +

So... After a full year and a half, you finally got irritated enough by {{quest|A Lesson to Learn}} that you had to split it up, despite that the text and everything was identical. == Vorrel's Revenge ==
  +
  +
Thottbot lists the 'gains' from this quest to be 500 rep for Undercity (and thus spillover rep for the other factions). Wowhead lists those same gains as 125 rep for each of the horde factions. Allakhazam agrees partially with Thottbot (ie 500 undercity), but different for Thunder Bluff. When you rebuilt [[Quest:Vorrel's Revenge|this page]], did you do so based on first-hand knowledge, or upon the information from wowhead alone? With this uncertainty from online db sources, this is definitely a case where first hand knowledge would be most appropriate when rebuilding the page. Moreso, labeling it as such would avert questions such as this. --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 01:11, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

The last one (Troggbane) ended with the tooltip to the left which scrambled the page... and I can't find a way to fix or why it is behaving like that...<br>
  +
Thanks for the help!!<br>
  +
PS: I do think it has something to do with the long name of the axe as the "disambigpage" is showing only part of the name and thus not working though I know not a way to fix it.

== Check User rights ==
  +
  +
Hello,
  +
The Wikia Community team has agreed give you checkuser access, so I can switch this on for you as soon as I know you have both read and understood this message. Please let me know if there are any language problems or parts you don't understand. We rarely give checkuser rights to users, so when we do we need them to be used /very/ responsibly. That means that they should only be used when abuse is suspected, and never out of curiosity or for fun.
  +
  +
Mostly an IP doesn't give you much personal information – just a general location and the name of an Internet provider. But sometimes an IP can give information such as the name of a user's school. So you need to be very careful about what you pass on to others. You may need to expose an IP because you need to block it, but you should always be careful about the decisions you make. If you aren't sure whether to give out private information, then don't!
  +
  +
Remember that checkuser does not tell you who was sitting at a computer, and it is possible for there to be a coincidence of two people on the same IP at different times – or even one person stealing someone else's wireless! It's important to be aware of the possibilities, and to be careful as you interpret results. Remember, you can always get second opinion from each other or from staff.
  +
  +
So please remember to only use checkuser where there is abuse, and to be careful in interpreting the results. We will be watching! Please let me know you have read and understood this, and I will give you access to checkuser.

== Troll Tribes: Wikification ==
  +
  +
I'm looking through various of the {{t|trolls}} tribe pages, and discovered that you were the one that (years ago) tagged for wikification. I was wondering what particular changes you were looking for, or what boilerplate you thought appropriate. While these pages have undergone edits between then and now, as nobody removed the wikify template, I expect they didn't edit with that in mind.
  +
  +
If you would, would you look at [[Vilebranch tribe]], and tell me what you would see changed on it? Any reasons or examples would be welcome. I'm not asking you to change the page itself (though you're free to do so if you want), just describe what you were asking for in such detail that someone can take you up on it. --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 22:38, February 17, 2010 (UTC)

Since I've disturbed you anyway, thought I'd ask your opinion on [[:Category:Molten Core armor set items]]. "tier 1 sets" was put as a subcat of "Molten core items", providing an implicit "drops from here" category". But BWL, and everywhere else I've seen does not separate them out between "items" and "set items". I created "Molten core set items" solely on the theory that ... maybe someone thought there were enough to justify their own category? --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 22:25, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

So.... I'm free to put whatever ending puncuation that I please? That's what people are going to assume. I was trying to find out how to link ''sic'' properly from Wikipedia (which I did manage, after 5 hundred tries), and was going to edit it so. ::::'''Gourra - But I think it looks out of place.''' It ''does'' look out of place, but for a good reason. In fact, I think that's the whole point: it looks out of place. When I see something like that, it's a flag to me that says, "this is not complete, but if I can see if it's been fixed, then I'll edit it and note that the Quest Blues have done so". It makes me double check that it's correct. If it has been fixed, by all means complete it!:D Updating WoWWiki can only make it better.
  +
::::'''A'noob - Why do you add those ''[sic]'' everywhere please?''' Actually, it's only three pages: [[Magistrate Marduke]], [[Eyonix]] and [[Ufrang the Mighty]]. And of course, Eirik already explained it quite nicely. A small note that I'd like to make is that I had asked A'noob on Feb. 4th about his adding his own punctation to Marduke's text, if he happened to see on one of his toons if the Blues happened to fix it, and he never got back to me. (/shrug) I could only assume he had no source, so I re-added it.
  +
::::'''Gourra - ...if we're going to be "grammar nazis"...''' Well, I guess that's up to personal opinion in the end. I don't believe that three pages among 81,142 pages is being a grammar nazi. Usually the 'Blues' in general do a good job with the little details (but they're only human), and by no means is incorrect grammar game-breaking. But if a detail is there, or even NOT there, then WoWWiki ought to refect that.
  +
::::In the end, it's just a notation and link to Wikipedia. No harm, no foul. To me, it's no different than the queststub note: "This article or section is a quest stub. You can help expand it by editing it." (To be honest, I don't always see the queststub, nor do I always see where it need to be fixed.) If it makes WoWWiki better through a simple note, I would like to have that tool at everyone's disposal, not just my own. :::I don't want it to be "an admin's last word is final"; I'm certainly open for discussion, but one extra word makes it look redundant. There aren't too many class-restricted weapon sets at the moment to warrant a category for each class, so I'd rather put it in the whole "<class> sets" instead of "<class> weapon sets" and "<class> armor sets". There might come a time when a category would be large enough to warrant it, but at the moment that's not the case. --{{User:Gourra/Sig2}} 09:59, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

== Set bonus as "set page" ==
  +
Wanted to broach the question: are the different item levels of sets really sufficient reason to consider each "collection of items of this level" a different set? Starting with the Gladiator sets, and continuing with pretty much every set that didn't have absolutely unique items, the whole concept of "these 5-8 items constitute the set" breaks down.
  +
  +
We've incorporated the "the set consists of these items" idea into {{t|settip}}. It worked well enough for Tier 1-4, etc. I'm thinking that "because wowhead does it that way" is no longer sufficient. The only reasonable alternative I can think of for Settip is for the "set items" to be disambiguation links, and the fixed stats to be listed as ranges.
  +
  +
Would you care to discuss? Perhaps recommend other people who might be(come) interested? --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 19:41, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
  +
  +
:I'm not really sure what you mean, do you want the items in the set tooltip to be disambiguation links, or be an item page that shows the ranges of an item that shares set bonuses with others? I'm sure you're already familiar with how much I hate combining articles just because some items or quests have the same name in common... --{{User:Gourra/Sig2}} 22:07, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
  +
  +
::Tier sets are items that provide a set bonus. However, we're getting "sub-tiers" these days, starting with [[Tier 7]]. Thus, I created pages such as [[Bonescythe Battlegear set]]. Realistically, nobody is going to go from having a Heroic Bonescythe set to having a Valorous Bonescythe set without at some point having pieces of both. So in may ways, my new page would be a better place to describe the "set" of all relevant items.
  +
  +
::This is not saying that [[Heroes' Bonescythe Battlegear]] would not be a valid page on its own. But if the ''set'' page were expanded to include a table showing minimum and maximum stat values/gem slots/etc, the ''heroic'' and ''valorous'' pages could be relegated to [[:Category:Bonescythe Battlegear set items|Bonescythe Battlegear set items]], leaving the ''set'' page to describe the set as a whole.
  +
  +
::I don't consider my ''set'' page up to that job currently, and wanted to see if you thought there would be some worth to improving it to where it could. Currently the ''set'' page is not a lot more than a glorified disambiguation page. Tier 9 and 10 are going to be chock full of "here's this armor collection that's really similar to that one". IMO, the ''set'' pages are a way to provide that the category has less 'noise'.
  +
  +
::But as you said, you're not in favor of combining articles. And once the individual armor items have been divvied out, the largest bit of noise will have left the category. We're the only two that seem interested in the issue, so I'm not about to start this on my own without buy-in from you. --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 19:54, March 8, 2010 (UTC)
  +
  +
:::A separate page for the set bonuses which is shared among the sets is a good idea - it can be transcluded onto the set pages and if there are changes in the set bonus, you'll change it on all at the same time. The idea of showing the combined stats of the sets would be a good idea, but I'm not sure about comparing them. --{{User:Gourra/Sig2}} 22:16, March 9, 2010 (UTC)
  +
  +
::I don't really have a handle on "combined stats of the sets" if you're talking about something different than what we have today. Comparing would only have a "minimum" and "maximum" ... column, range, whatever. Only a few things (like gem slots) seem to be consistent within a set-as-bonus. I don't know that anything else would apply.
  +
  +
::Entirely other (but relevant) issue: Tier 7 is sorted by "set name". I've sorted Tier 8 by set bonus name, mostly to see if it was going to be more useful that way. Opinions on which we should go with? And you can see the influence that "set bonus" pages have on those category contents. == Help with Darnassian and Thalassian language source material ==

Hi Gourra, and thanks for the offer of help! One thing I find as I am researching and going over the languages is that I am often unsure as to where the available translations source from. I am not familiar with any of the novels, and I am not entirely familiar with how Blizzard verifies a given translation as "official" or not, or what is considered canon. Any help you can offer in this regard is very welcome. The current documentation here is VERY helpful, but I am often left wondering about specific sources of translations for some phrases.

I have gotten furthest with Darnassian/ae but I am also working out the particulars of Thalassian/ae and other related languages, trying to draw from the source material as closely as possible.

Also, I saw posted here the word generator files used in game; are these word lists located anywhere readily accessible?

::::::::I don't see why that should be needed. The model is exactly the same as the one that currently exists. :::::::::::Oh I see, then there are very few cases like that of Tichondrius. Besides him, some heros changed their colors:
  +
:::::::::::*Jaina changes her color from Blue to Gray.
  +
:::::::::::*Muradin changes his color from Gray to Blue in RoC human campaign.
  +
:::::::::::*Kel'thuzad changes his color from purple to green in RoC undead campaign.
  +
:::::::::::*Cairne changes his color from orange to Red in RoC orc campaign.
  +
:::::::::::*Illidan changes his color from Teal to Blue in RoC night elf campaign.
  +
:::::::::::*Shandris changes her color from Teal to Blue.
  +
:::::::::::*Tyrande changes her color from Blue to Teal in TFT night elf campaign.
  +
:::::::::::*Vashj and Kael changes their colors from Red to Orange and later to red again in TFT alliance campaign.
  +
:::::::::::*Anub'arak changes his color from brown to purple in TFT undead campaign.
  +
:::::::::::*And Nazgrel changes his color from red to blue in TFT bonus campaign.
  +
:::::::::::However, I think most of this changes are for gameplay reasons (i.e. they have to be the color of the player). Also Archimonde grows larger and larger in [[Twilight of the Gods]].
  +
:::::::::::Currently, I think we don't have any of this repeated pictures on the wiki. And I think we don't need all the color variations the heroes have for gameplay reasons, we just need the most representative color; neither I think we need the picture of Archimonde as the scale is not very noticeable in the picture; but I think Tichondrius case is different as he has his color modified from the Object Editor, not just the player color. I see you just [http://www.wowwiki.com/index.php?title=Crystal_Pylon&diff=2232103&oldid=2232102 reverted] my merge of [[Crystal Pylon]] to [[Power crystals]] (with a very helpful edit summary of "Eh..no"). What you might have seen if you'd checked the edit history of the page prior to hitting the undo button is that I only [http://www.wowwiki.com/index.php?title=Crystal_Pylon&oldid=2232093 created the page] eight minutes previously, and the merge was performed when I discovered that there was already a very good article on the subject. There is no need to have two pages with exactly the same content on both, so I'm going to merge these again. If you're going to undo edits like that again, mind pinging me? [[User:Thumperward|Thumperward]] ([[User talk:Thumperward|talk]]) 15:02, April 13, 2010 (UTC)
  +
  +
:The pylons aren't quite the same as the power crystals. The Crystal Pylon should mainly be about the pylons (obviously), so merge it with the power crystal article. There's also the "See also" section to be used to link to the crystal article. --{{User:Gourra/Sig2}} 16:45, April 13, 2010 (UTC)
  +
  +
:: Yes, but the point was that the existing crystal article already covers everything that the pylon article does. Having this material in two places is confusing and will likely result in one of them getting out of date. Until the material is split more sensibly, a merge is appropriate. A more friendly summary wouldn't have gone amiss either. [[User:Thumperward|Thumperward]] ([[User talk:Thumperward|talk]]) 15:27, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

:You must be thinking I'm specifically targeting you for some reason. The reason I removed the icons from the new warlock abilities is because they haven't been announced to be the icons for them.   +
  +
::One day? It happend 2 months. And all spammers are in the "FIX BLUTDURST" guild that still exist even if Blizzard officials gave some accounts a 3 day ban.
  +
::Stilla few players can be seen to this very day that logs in from time to time. And if you ask Aerie Peak players, you will see that this is something they want to be added.
  +
::It just makes it all something special, to be a part of something big. =) Also i should mention that raids had to be cancelled because of the lag, players couldn't log in or out from the game, spells ::couldn't be casted, people couldn't mount up. Everything was in chaos. And you think this is not important? bah! {{User|McTerry}}
  +
  +
:::So there was a lag problem for some time, big deal. The spamming is probably (as I saw in a thread) because Aerie Peak is the first server alphabetically. == Shard inventory/items ==
  +
  +
I was unsure if there were any items sold for Stone Keepers Shards that were also sold for other currency. Some Heirloom items can be purchased for either champion's seals or heroism emblems, if memory serves. I was just a little too lazy to go look up whether the shards had any items in common with other vendors. Thus, a vendor list, rather than an item list. There currently aren't any other shard vendors, but until 3.2.0 there weren't any other WG mark vendors, either. Just a caution. --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 17:41, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

  +
:::There are no heirlooms that have different stats depending on what vendor it's bought - in fact all of the heirlooms are bought with either Stone Keeper's Shard, Emblem of Heroism or Champion's Seal. Take a look and you'll see that there are no versions of an heirloom with stats that varies depending on which vendor its sold by. --{{User:Gourra/Sig2}} 00:01, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
  +
::::My concern isn't that they're different, but that they're the same. Hard to call it a "shard item" if you can buy the very same item with other currency. I believe that at least some Emblem heirlooms are not sold for Shards as well, but I think there IS some overlap between at least some of the lists. Thus the name "shard inventory" rather than "shard items" would be more appropriate. --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 17:39, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

I propose that this change be made: [[Demons Deck (starter)]] -> [[Demons Deck]] -> [[Demons Deck (quest item)]]. The quest item is only of interest to (and shpeople on the quest, whereas the Starter is of greater interest for having been created by the individual cards, is tradeable, etc. Better, it follows the convention of every other darkmoon page currently existing.
  +
  +
I would propose that the quest item be rolled into the starter page for the same reason, but ... we've been through that before. What im wondering is if you somehow can "merge" two articles (or delete the content on one and move it to the other-ish) to one?
  +
The articles im thinking of is the ones about Gryan Stoutmantle. It is one about the "original" Gryan in Sentinel Hill and one about the "new" Captain Gryan in Northrend (and I think there soon will be a third one about the "new original" Marshal Gryan who returns from Northrend to Sentinel Hill).
  +
  +
I think that is a bit confusing when it really is the same person. Know it is different NPCs, but other characters that appear on many places in the game just got one article describing the lore of that character, an example is probably Chronormu (Chromie).
  +
  +
Isnt this (please correct me if im wrong) mainly a site describing the lore of different characters, groups etc. in the Warcraft Universe, rather than a World of Warcraft database? :)
  +
  +
I could write one big article describing about him on one of his two current articles, but what should I do with the other one after that?
  +
I cant just delete everything on one of the pages, right? :P
  +
  +
I think it really should be one proper page describing the lore of that '''one''' person, but maybe other people likes it better the way it is today and im not allowed to do anything? I dont want to ruin anything for someone else.
  +
  +
Sorry for a long (and probably boring) post about something that may be obvious to you, or something that you maybe dont know anything about, but I dont really know who else to asks :(

::The pages you describe on Stoutmantle do need some expanding, but I'm not sure how much lore there is outside of what can be intuited from the quests. For the moment, to avoid ruffling feathers, you might expand the lore of Stoutmantle "as described by these quests" on the relevant page, and include a summary of the other pages under sections like on [[Gryan Stoutmantle]]. Once expanded, we can see if it would work better as a combined page, or perhaps as a page separate from the particular WoW appearances (ala [[Tirion Fordring]]). --[[User:Eirik Ratcatcher|Eirik Ratcatcher]] ([[User talk:Eirik Ratcatcher|talk]]) 19:05, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

Can you possibly explain why it's necessary to create entire new pages when about 4 words have changed in any given quest? :/. ==Non-Enchanting Enchant Tooltip Syntax==
  +
While Enchantments with the type "Enchant", such as {{loot|enchant|Enchant Weapon - Icebreaker}}, display a proper tooltip when moused over, Enchants of all other professions (properly following nearly the same syntax on the [[Template:Embroid|Embroid template]]) display only "no tooltip" error on mouseover. So, [[Leatherworking]]'s {{loot|enchant|Fur Lining - Stamina}} or [[Blacksmithing]]'s {{loot|enchant|Socket Bracer}} generate no tooltip, although their template syntax seems to be correct.

Is there a different term or syntax on either the link or item page to make the mouseover tooltips display properly? I can't seem to find a recipe listing page where the Embroid type of tooltip works correctly. Thanks!

Ya confused me, Morph. You would have been more clear if you had stated the problem using the then-output of the template, instead of using the template to illustrate the problem. I have to assume that since 1.1 and 1.10 above show different dates, whatever the problem was has been corrected.
And I have to disagree with Howbizr... "He's a fellow editor. Show a little bit of respect please." would be appropriate, though. Don't start out with an insult, while it may be a comfort, it doesn't actually move your case forward. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:37, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
My thought on admins, and the same for guild officers, and other voluntary positions of power, is these people usually have earned them through donating their own time. The key word being donated, for free. But that wasn't meant to say (as you imply) that other editors don't deserve respect, only admins. I think admins should just get normal respect + 1. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 3:45 PM, 13 Aug 2009 (EDT)
I would normaly tend to agree with you BUT as with anything else they are Human and many do FORGET how they got there. It is the same as if your Boss or any other High position person tells you to do something that is illegal (that does NOT make them right in telling you to do so). Being an admim does mean they have worked for that position or done something to deserve the position but does not make what they do RIGHT just because they are in that position. -- (M o r p hJames E. Talent Tooltips

You recently edited the Template:Infobox talent and Template:Talenttip pages, removing the name, ranks, talent_req, and points_req fields from the tooltip. I am wondering why you did this, as this information is very important. Also, could help me get the talent tooltips to display properly? I would like them to look like the tests on the Template:Talenttip page. Gethe (talk) 16:41, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

That is important info, because where those tooltips should be displayed won't have that info available. But they won't appear, so could you help me fix them so they will? Which documentation page are you referring to? Gethe (talk) 17:04, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
No it's not used anywhere, but that can change if it's fixed and people become aware of it. Wouldn't you like to see a tooltip telling you all about a talent instead of having to click a link? If this site has tooltips for items, quests, npcs and more, why not have one for talents? Gethe (talk) 17:27, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Categories on Tier 9 items

I am now confused? you are removing the Category:Tier 9 armor sets and [[:Category:<class> sets]] from the individual pieces - I went thru and added most of those categories already because if you look at the category pages they list each piece as well as the SETS (the sets are 1st becuse they have a space in their categorization parameter and the individual pieces are in normal alpha order ) so if the categories I am doing are wrong then ALL of the other Category:Tier 8 armor sets and earlier sets as well as the Arena sets too. -- (M o r p hJames E. I agree that {{settip}} should do some or most of the categorizations, with a little reworks to class paramater, change it to class1= class2= ... class5= it could then even catagories them into class sets as well - but at the moment it does not do any categorizations ( I wish it did buecause there are too many categories to remember the corrct names for because some of the locations have s's and some do not [[:Category:World of Warcraft plate <location>(s) armor]] and at the moment the from what I understand all of the World of Warcraft Prefixes are supposed to be WoW prefixes - the template could easily fix that as well - I will leave that template for you all to do since it affects so many items. -- (M o r p hJames E. I think you showed me a wrong example - because I had that page already categoriezed ( you just duplicated the categories with <noinclude>[[Duplicated Categories]]</noinclude> -- but {{Settip}} could do most all of the categorization for you if it was set up correctly - that is why I refuse to add some of the categories to some of the pages because 1 I have no idea which categories to add ( and I cant look at the items categories they are so Confusing and ( criss-cross-linked ) so I have no idea where to place them - that is why you see me do a lot of changes ( mostly I have to keep adding new elements because Item 1 has Category a, b, c on it - so I duplicate that on the same type items -- then I find Item 2 that has category a, b, d, e - so I have to add category c to this item and then go back to Item 1 and add categories d and e then Item 3 only had 1 of the 5 categories on it -- there is so much inconsistency that I gave up on all but primary categories -- where as a template doing the categorizations would correct so much of the inconsistancies -- (M o r p hJames E. I am going to keep adding [[Category:<Class> sets]] to the pieces of individual pieces of armor, because that is how all of the sets are doen (go look at Category:Druid sets (you will see INDIVIDUAL pieces from Category:Dungeon Set 1 armor sets, Category:Dungeon Set 2 armor sets, Category:Dungeon Set 3 armor sets, all of the arena sets as well as all of the Tier sets. So, unless you are going to go and remove each individual piece from those sets from each Class set, then I am going to continue the practice previously set (You are the only one not doing this - does not make you in the right). -- (M o r p hJames E. Conquest Badges per instance

Is there any preferred way to judge the time the instances will take? I've sorted the instances by time because that's what the entire topic is for but there's little else I can do. Also I increased the time to do some of the instances by 1-2 minutes to remove the need for decimals eg. 22.5 mins

Is there any source to go by?

Appreciated

Question from Tripleblue52

Where could I suggest a change that I believe should be added to the Ice Block page? I suggested a change to the paragraph that speaks of ice blocking with the flag, but I also wanted to add that you can ice block while silenced. The only reason I didn't add it to the page 'cause I was afraid it would sound awkward, and not really part of the article. Would you suggest I just add it to ice block's talk page and ask for someone to add it in to the article? Tripleblue52 (talk) 19:57, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

You are welcome to write that information yourself under the Tips and tactics section. Make sure it's grammatically correct and that it's easy to understand. Don't forget to not use your signature (~~~~) in the article. --g0urra[T҂C] 06:48, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Gourra can you check something?

Check to see if A'noob is connecting to WoWwiki from the same IP address as Loremunster did? The page I contested recently was put up against my knowledge, and has been on your site for roughly 3 years apparently. I find it very suspect that on the day I discover it and correct its errors someone immediately starts altering it and seeking to essentially "hide" it. Can you please investigate this and if merited deal with it? I dont actually want to know the outcome, but just saying. Seems pretty convient that someone would care so suddenly. Thanks in advance. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Devanti (talk · contr).

No it's not me. And your talk page fully explains why your article has been moved.

It might not be, but its still strange that it attracted such attention so rapidly. Where were the admins for three years when I reported this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Devanti (talk · contr).

Well if you want the full story, I have an eye for the fan fic posted on the mainspace, so actually, I random-click the names such as this "Lacryma". And while reading I see much RP, and RP that I did not read I the Books (yes all the books). And so you get my generic message about the fan fic article on your talk page.

Dont get me wrong mate. I'm all for the seperation of canon and non canon. Thats one of the great things about this Wiki, that its so well policed. (Unlike the RP Servers. ) But I've had wiki pages vandalized before, which is why I was so suspicious and found the timing so strange. Cataclysm Box-art

Could you explain it in more detail why you felt the need not to display it any longer? Is it because it's a box, or, just because you want nothing there at all?    ~~  Deliah Shalièn  talk 18:58, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Because putting it in the infobox makes it look like it's official box art, while it's not. --g0urra[T҂C] 20:13, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Still not quite detailed, does it matter that much if it is offical or not? I mean, I don't see a real issue for having an art there, would it make you feel better if it had a comment under it like "Not official", because, having nothing in the box is kind of.. emty. Also, would you feel better if the art in the box doesn't look like an actual box, but is a 2d / flat image instead? <Imagelink>DeliahSig.png|User:Deliah Shalièn</imagelink><Imagelink>DeliahSigt.png|User talk:Deliah Shalièn</imagelink><Imagelink>DeliahSigc.png|Special:Contributions/Deliah Shalièn</imagelink> 20:34, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it would. I'd rather have the official box, or some other official art, instead of some unofficial box that someone made up. If that doesn't exist, it might as well be empty. Just see Wikipedia. --g0urra[T҂C] 21:23, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Illumination vs Enlightenment

Illumination vs Enlightenment ... you've called out the former as "the horde version of Enlightenment" on its page. The Twin Val'kyr page lists Illumination as "the heroic 10 man version of Trial of the Crusader".

I go to Armory and I find entirely different results: that there is one drop table for Fjola Lightbane and a separate one for Eydis Darkbane; that both tables are identical between Normal and Heroic, excepting a Spell holy rune [Crusader Orb] on heroic. WoWhead seems to back up Armory, but for all I know that may be database copying on the part of one or the other.

I've never completed this, so I have no idea where the truth is. Thoughts? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:05, September 1, 2009 (UTC)

One source that seems likely is an earlier version of the Twin Val'kyr, which listed alliance vs horde. But I have to wonder where THAT came from? Comment is made about it being from the PTR, but no info on whether it came from live as well. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:25, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
The thing is that they have the same source and same stats, which leads me to believe that the different looks (you can see in model viewer, or the screenshots at wowhead) hints that they are for Horde and Alliance respectively. Also what I see is that the armory only lists the drop for 10 man and that there is no heroic version... --g0urra[T҂C] 08:46, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks and Tips

Thanks for your help with our little guild wiki.
And for pointing me to talk pages... I'm learning!!

If you do have a few moments spare, I was wondering if you could maybe give me a few pointers...
So number one: why, despite me uploading an updated picture (a very minor edit), does the guildbox still show the old one? Also is there any way of permanently deleting pictures I no longer use? I hate the thought of cluttering up the servers.

It's more than likely that the answers are already out there somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find them. WoWwiki's a bit confusing to navigate around at the moment!

Thanks,
Followthewind (talk) 08:22, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

As far as I can see, both versions of File:EarthWalkersFlag.png are the same. Are you sure that you uploaded a new, different, picture? You can tag the images you want deleted with {{Speedydelete}}. Follow the link to see more.
Guild redirects in the main namespace (for example making The Earth Walkers to Guild:The Earth Walkers (Darkmoon Faire EU)) is generally not involved, unless it is a very famous guild (see Ensidia). Unfortunately people will have to type the full link to your guild article to get there. --g0urra[T҂C] 08:27, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
The second, newer image is slightly cleaned around the edges of the flag. Nothing big, but it was bugging me! Speedydelete though, I'll remember that, thanks.
As for the article thing, I had a feeling that was the case. Nevermind, we'll just have to become famous! Thanks for all your help.
Followthewind (talk) 18:39, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
Actualy on the Guild: search, they do have to type in Guild: for any and all guilds to be found easily. I can type in " Guild:The E " and I can see your guild Guild:The Earth Walkers (Darkmoon Faire EU) listed in the dropdown menu of the search box (the more letters they type the more precise the searchbox shows). -- (M o r p hJames E. Correspondance from the Front

I noted, and reverted, your change to Inv misc note 05 [A Ragged Page].

--Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:53, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

costitem template

{{costitem}} is a new template to me. Could you explain why it would be preferred over {{cost}}? I found use of the cost template for every instance emblems were used as a cost. (eg Spell holy proclaimchampion [Emblem of Heroism], Inv jewelry talisman 08 [Mirror of Truth], etc). Is this to be a general replacement of cost with costitem? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:21, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

That's how I see it, yes. {{Cost}} would be something that's used for money, arena points and honor points, and {{costitem}} for items as currency. And don't give me the "if you want it then convert it on every article there is" crap. --g0urra[T҂C] 19:58, September 22, 2009 (UTC)
Would you explain why costitem is superior? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:35, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
You don't need to update {{cost}} every time there's a new currency; just use {{costitem|<amount>|<item>}}. --g0urra[T҂C] 12:39, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
Cool. Not especially relevant for existing currencies, but useful going forward. From the ease of use, though, I think it is possible that it may get abused for cases that aren't actual currencies. Too soon to tell. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:21, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
Though... come to think of it, you'll need to encourage people to NOT add new tokens (eg Emblem of Frost) to {{cost}}. The item requirements for the Tier 10.2 and 10.3 items may help in that regard, though. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:25, January 6, 2010 (UTC)
That's how it should be, but since that was added December 17 I can't do anything about it, with the new items added that uses it. --g0urra[T҂C] 03:03, January 6, 2010 (UTC)
I've found (through using it) that it works well for the "Vendor=" on a tooltip, but much less well in the main body of text. Largely because the icon for an item is not necessarily unique, and in body text, more detail without requiring a mouse-over seemed vastly preferable. In the tooltipbox, where brevity is a virtue, though, it's cool. Probably cool in tables, too, but I haven't gone there yet. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:34, January 7, 2010 (UTC)

RPG tags

What is the reasoning behind the mass removal of {{RPG}}? Is it a category thing, or was it deemed useless?--SWM2448 20:48, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Both. It's better to categorize it under each source book instead of the general one (Category:Warcraft RPG). --g0urra[T҂C] 21:01, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
It could be redone to not add a category. On the second point, I think it should be used like a {{RPG-section}} tag, but for when the entire page is of purely Warcraft RPG content. I feel it should be kept mainly because of Scrolls of Lore's mentality of canon (and subsequent whining because of that mentality), and how we are corrupting "lore noobs" into believing the RPG is canon. I do not really care, but on the off chance they are right, it would not hurt to keep the 'only in the RPG' disclaimer (and I liked Baggins).--SWM2448 21:11, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
So from the temporary RPG category you want to make another temporary RPG category so to keep track of which articles that has been corrected?
If you're confused, I'll explain it like this: I find an article that has {{RPG}}, and may need to have it's {{cite}} converted, so I convert it. The citation is then converted but the template is still there. If I remove it then it won't show that the information is purely from the RPG, and if I remove the temporary category I won't be able to keep track of the articles that needs to "fixed". --g0urra[T҂C] 21:27, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
What if I added {{RPG}} back at a later date? That will still let the statuses be kept track of.--SWM2448 21:49, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
I don't want to sound cynical, but good luck keeping track of what articles has been edited. --g0urra[T҂C] 22:05, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
When the template is gone, I'll just go through the specific RPG categories and put it back where I feel it is needed. Your doubt makes me feel like I missed something.--SWM2448 22:50, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps instead, you should have simply a) made it a neutral quest, and b) listed both quest givers, with faction symbols for who gets the quest from whom. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 01:02, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

1) it's not a neutral quest, so it would be wrong to mark it as such. 2) the different articles are needed because of the tooltip; it there's 2 questbox on one page then only one of them will be on the tooltip. --g0urra[T҂C] 19:34, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

Vorrel's Revenge

Thottbot lists the 'gains' from this quest to be 500 rep for Undercity (and thus spillover rep for the other factions). Wowhead lists those same gains as 125 rep for each of the horde factions. Allakhazam agrees partially with Thottbot (ie 500 undercity), but different for Thunder Bluff. When you rebuilt this page, did you do so based on first-hand knowledge, or upon the information from wowhead alone? With this uncertainty from online db sources, this is definitely a case where first hand knowledge would be most appropriate when rebuilding the page. Moreso, labeling it as such would avert questions such as this. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 01:11, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

I usually just base information on what is on Wowhead, since it seems to be the most accurate and up-to-date. --g0urra[T҂C] 19:35, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
The one bad thing about being able to get exalted with factions fairly quickly now... makes it hard for information gathering addons to get accurate data when for example they might record only the spillover rep rather than the main. Anyway, I confirmed it as 500 undercity rep. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 06:40, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

Help wanted.

I was wondering if you (or anyone who might read this) could help me with my user page (and possibly other pages I help edit) with a hide/show thing (Collapsable, whatever you want to call it)- or direct me to a template and point out the best one to use. (I don't mind if you delete this talk if I get the help I want) Sraw (talk) 10:52, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

  1. Does not matter the content (tables, simple text, or images)
  2. With it being hidden by default when entering my user page so that I could fit a lot of content, but make it look smaller until you want to expand something.
Do you mean something like this? --g0urra[T҂C] 12:56, January 6, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I might have to mess around with it slightly to make it completely perfect, but it is extremely helpful. You can remove this section if you want now. Sraw (talk) 13:17, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

Season 7 items

Re Template:Season 7 Arena set: Wowhead reports the armor sets sold by Nargle and Argex but not Kezzik; Kezzik is reported to sell the weapons but not the armor. And I haven't checked for what the NPCs in Blackrock Depths bar sell (or even if there are actual vendors there).

Do you have any first-hand information on this? Or need I 'go fish'? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:06, January 7, 2010 (UTC)

Go fish. I don't play WoW anymore. --g0urra[T҂C] 22:46, January 7, 2010 (UTC)
Okies, I go fish. Sorry to hear you no longer play. I've been there, on a different wiki. I lasted perhaps another 6 months before I was just too out of touch. But then, there weren't any truly helpful database sites for that wiki, either.
In any case, keep up the good work. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:12, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Weird. Showed up as part of Precious when I searched, but going there now has it link to Precious (plague-dog) as part of the disambiguation. Only other links I know of are offsite (on Wowhead, for one), which probably aren't enough to justify keeping it. My mistake, then. --LLJKTechnogeek (talk) 06:05, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

Check User rights

Hello, The Wikia Community team has agreed give you checkuser access, so I can switch this on for you as soon as I know you have both read and understood this message. Please let me know if there are any language problems or parts you don't understand. We rarely give checkuser rights to users, so when we do we need them to be used /very/ responsibly. That means that they should only be used when abuse is suspected, and never out of curiosity or for fun.

So please remember to only use checkuser where there is abuse, and to be careful in interpreting the results. We will be watching! Please let me know you have read and understood this, and I will give you access to checkuser.

Thanks for all your work here! Best, --Sarah (talk 18:28, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

Troll Tribes: Wikification

I'm looking through various of the {{trolls}} tribe pages, and discovered that you were the one that (years ago) tagged for wikification. I was wondering what particular changes you were looking for, or what boilerplate you thought appropriate. While these pages have undergone edits between then and now, as nobody removed the wikify template, I expect they didn't edit with that in mind.

If you would, would you look at Vilebranch tribe, and tell me what you would see changed on it? Any reasons or examples would be welcome. I'm not asking you to change the page itself (though you're free to do so if you want), just describe what you were asking for in such detail that someone can take you up on it. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:38, February 17, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure why I tagged it for wikification, sometimes my memory doesn't last that long.
The Vilebranch tribe could need references and split up to sections, with history, (notable) members if needed, etc. --g0urra[T҂C] 22:58, February 17, 2010 (UTC)
Thankee kindly. I'm not sure I have the proper tools (in this case, WoW tabletop RPG books) to trim the "character class" section properly myself. ... at least, that's what it looked like ya might be up to with that. And I've no idea where the history came from. Same place, mebby? Bleah. Well, maybe your edit to Vilebranch will spur someone who knows these things to look into it. ... I sure don't expect your memory to last 2 full years. And could be that some of what you didn't like was corrected since then anyway. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:08, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Set reduction

One thing you seem to have missed in editing Confessor's Raiment is that {{Priest sets}} already provides the inclusion of the "Priest sets" (or Priest armor sets, whatever) category. Feel free to remove that when you're removing things. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:18, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Since I've disturbed you anyway, thought I'd ask your opinion on Category:Molten Core armor set items. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:25, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

To be honest I didn't find that categorization necessary. The only reason I can think of is that the tier 1 set item drops from Molten Core, but that isn't necessary, at least not to me. --g0urra[T҂C] 22:27, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

About Ufrang the Mighty...

07:21, February 22, 2010 Gourra (Makes no difference if there's a dot or not.)

So.... I'm free to put whatever ending puncuation that I please? That's what people are going to assume. I was trying to find out how to link sic properly from Wikipedia (which I did manage, after 5 hundred tries), and was going to edit it so. People more anal about puncuation than myself (which is saying something :P) Will add whatever they please to "complete" the article. I sometimes have to restrain myself from dong so to articles that has content I have no access to for confirmation.--Mondoblasto (talk) 07:47, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

And you just had to add the [sic] because...? It would be something else if it was a grammatically incorrect sentence, but now there's just a dot that's missing at the end. I for one think it looks odd with a [sic] if there's not a reason for it that I just mentioned. But if we're going to be "grammar nazis", then sure, it can stay. But I think it looks out of place. --g0urra[T҂C] 08:00, February 22, 2010 (UTC)
Why do you add those [sic] everywhere please? They are not in the npc quotes. What is their purpose?
IconSmall Hamuul Loremaster A'noob, Arch Druid of the Noobhoof Clan (talk/contribz) 09:44, February 22, 2010 (UTC)
Sic: is used ... to indicate that an incorrect or unusual spelling, phrase, punctuation, and/or other preceding quoted material has been reproduced verbatim from the quoted original and is not a transcription error. IE, "this is a direct quote from the original source. Don't be tidying it up just because you don't like it." --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:54, February 22, 2010 (UTC)
  • I noticed that two of my [sic] notes were edited wrong or simply deleted, so I decided to chime in and explain my motives, because the Last thing I want to do is start an edit war.
Gourra - But I think it looks out of place. It does look out of place, but for a good reason.
A'noob - Why do you add those [sic] everywhere please? Actually, it's only three pages: Magistrate Marduke, Eyonix and Ufrang the Mighty.
Gourra - ...if we're going to be "grammar nazis"... Well, I guess that's up to personal opinion in the end.
In the end, it's just a notation and link to Wikipedia. Oh, and if you've made it this far, thank you for putting up with my wall of text.--Mondoblasto (talk) 08:39, February 23, 2010 (UTC)
Just realized I used the archaic form of the note ([sic]), and not the 'wrong grammar' one ([sic]). Shame on me. >.<--Mondoblasto (talk) 08:50, February 23, 2010 (UTC)

Triumphant Wrynn's Battlegear

This set, and others, you added back to Category:Warrior set items despite my having specifically included them in Category:Wrynn's Plate set items, a subcategory of Warrior set items. They should not be in both the category and the subcategory. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:25, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

I thought they would fit there, but if you don't think so, then add it back. I know the unwritten rule about "if it's in the subcategory then don't put in the parent category", but I didn't think it was needed here. --g0urra[T҂C] 10:48, February 23, 2010 (UTC)
I'll take a second look to see if I have real objections or just pro forma ones, and change it back if so.
On the issue of category naming ("armor set" vs "set"), it looks like there is a distinct lack of interest aside from me and thee. Which would put us tied, save that I defer "to the admin". --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:30, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
I don't want it to be "an admin's last word is final"; I'm certainly open for discussion, but one extra word makes it look redundant. --g0urra[T҂C] 09:59, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
Worse than "admin's word is final" is "each interested party has a mutually conflicting opinion". The former has hope of decision. In any case, you seem to agree with me that sets and "items in sets" are different animals that don't always get along with each other. And in the main, that's good enough. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:32, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I don't have a particular opinion either way (now): The Gladiator items are not in "(class) set items", most everything else is. You care one way or the other? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:01, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Put them in the "<class> set items" categories. --g0urra[T҂C] 06:07, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Set bonus as "set page"

Wanted to broach the question: are the different item levels of sets really sufficient reason to consider each "collection of items of this level" a different set? Starting with the Gladiator sets, and continuing with pretty much every set that didn't have absolutely unique items, the whole concept of "these 5-8 items constitute the set" breaks down.

We've incorporated the "the set consists of these items" idea into {{settip}}. It worked well enough for Tier 1-4, etc. I'm thinking that "because wowhead does it that way" is no longer sufficient. The only reasonable alternative I can think of for Settip is for the "set items" to be disambiguation links, and the fixed stats to be listed as ranges.

Would you care to discuss? Perhaps recommend other people who might be(come) interested? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:41, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what you mean, do you want the items in the set tooltip to be disambiguation links, or be an item page that shows the ranges of an item that shares set bonuses with others? I'm sure you're already familiar with how much I hate combining articles just because some items or quests have the same name in common... --g0urra[T҂C] 22:07, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
Tier sets are items that provide a set bonus. However, we're getting "sub-tiers" these days, starting with Tier 7. Thus, I created pages such as Bonescythe Battlegear set. Realistically, nobody is going to go from having a Heroic Bonescythe set to having a Valorous Bonescythe set without at some point having pieces of both. So in may ways, my new page would be a better place to describe the "set" of all relevant items.
This is not saying that Heroes' Bonescythe Battlegear would not be a valid page on its own. But if the set page were expanded to include a table showing minimum and maximum stat values/gem slots/etc, the heroic and valorous pages could be relegated to Bonescythe Battlegear set items, leaving the set page to describe the set as a whole.
I don't consider my set page up to that job currently, and wanted to see if you thought there would be some worth to improving it to where it could. Currently the set page is not a lot more than a glorified disambiguation page. Tier 9 and 10 are going to be chock full of "here's this armor collection that's really similar to that one". IMO, the set pages are a way to provide that the category has less 'noise'.
But as you said, you're not in favor of combining articles. And once the individual armor items have been divvied out, the largest bit of noise will have left the category. We're the only two that seem interested in the issue, so I'm not about to start this on my own without buy-in from you. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:54, March 8, 2010 (UTC)
A separate page for the set bonuses which is shared among the sets is a good idea - it can be transcluded onto the set pages and if there are changes in the set bonus, you'll change it on all at the same time. The idea of showing the combined stats of the sets would be a good idea, but I'm not sure about comparing them. --g0urra[T҂C] 22:16, March 9, 2010 (UTC)
I don't really have a handle on "combined stats of the sets" if you're talking about something different than what we have today. Comparing would only have a "minimum" and "maximum" ... column, range, whatever. Only a few things (like gem slots) seem to be consistent within a set-as-bonus. I don't know that anything else would apply.
Entirely other (but relevant) issue: Tier 7 is sorted by "set name". I've sorted Tier 8 by set bonus name, mostly to see if it was going to be more useful that way. Opinions on which we should go with? And you can see the influence that "set bonus" pages have on those category contents. Again, comments? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:41, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Just updated the Warcraft EU server Realm Pages to include an entry for my guild called Valkyrìe as it was missing of the list of active guilds for that realm. I created the content saved it and it is visible however if I try to search for it using the Wiki search it does not get any hits? I have tried searching using "Valkyrìe", "Valkyrie" and Valkyr as search terms with no luck. Is there anyway I can remedy this perhaps by adding tags of some sort? or does the indexing take a day or so to refresh?

Thanks again, I will have more updates from my notes soon.

Auuugh, my edit was nerfed!

Why did ya remove the images from the Improvements-section on Mind Flay? :(( And I who worked so hard on that, so it'd be easier for people to recognize the talents and thus wouldn't have to check so many links when planning any builds... it also made the article rather stylish, without sacrificing any other features. Once again my effort has been wasted, Wowwiki sure is a harsh place for a fragile and timid soul like me... x,< WrathOfDeathfrost (talk) 01:26, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

All I did was removing the images, surely that doesn't matter too much? They can be seen when hovering over the abilities anyway. --g0urra[T҂C] 00:09, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
Meh, forgot to sign my signature... but ye, like you're saying, did removing them matter that much? It's not like they caused any harm. I always had this idea that on Wowwiki, images+link+description would give a nice, instant and rather complete overview of a subject, so I was a tad surprised when someone for some reason had removed the images. I also disagree with the removal of those images. Although they look almost identical, I think we should at least left the one of the entire body so that people can see his appearance changed in the last chapter he appeared. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 14:49, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
The only difference between this and this is that the former image has a slight green tint because of the map. The full body is shown in both images. --g0urra[T҂C] 16:20, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
I've just checked in the World Editor and it isn't because of the map, Tichondrius' colors were changed as the following:
Red 255 --> 255
Green 255 --> 180
Blue 255 --> 120
Also, his size scale was changed from 1.15 to 1.60. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 17:16, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
And what matters...how? There is no difference between the two, except that it's slightly larger and has a different color. It's not as if it's completely different. --g0urra[T҂C] 17:19, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

It's the same model. There is no difference. --g0urra[T҂C] 18:03, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
Well, most models in WC3 are basically used for 3 or 4 different units but with different color, player color or scale; but I think we should put the different variations made by Blizzard. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 01:38, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
I don't see why that should be needed. The model is exactly the same as the one that currently exists. That it's slightly larger and has a slightly different color doesn't warrant more images of it. If there is an example of this that currently exist, then link it. --g0urra[T҂C] 02:13, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I don't have an example exactly as this, but there are various examples of models that are modified and we have both pictures. For example, Jennalla has the same model as Sylvanas but we keep both pictures. (And sorry for my slow answer, I'm being very busy lately). Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 23:10, April 20, 2010 (UTC)
They are two different characters. Your argument is null and void. --g0urra[T҂C] 14:02, April 21, 2010 (UTC)
Oh I see, then there are very few cases like that of Tichondrius. Besides him, some heros changed their colors:
  • Jaina changes her color from Blue to Gray.
  • Muradin changes his color from Gray to Blue in RoC human campaign.
  • Kel'thuzad changes his color from purple to green in RoC undead campaign.
  • Cairne changes his color from orange to Red in RoC orc campaign.
  • Illidan changes his color from Teal to Blue in RoC night elf campaign.
  • Shandris changes her color from Teal to Blue.
  • Tyrande changes her color from Blue to Teal in TFT night elf campaign.
  • Vashj and Kael changes their colors from Red to Orange and later to red again in TFT alliance campaign.
  • Anub'arak changes his color from brown to purple in TFT undead campaign.
  • And Nazgrel changes his color from red to blue in TFT bonus campaign.
However, I think most of this changes are for gameplay reasons (i.e. they have to be the color of the player). Also Archimonde grows larger and larger in Twilight of the Gods.
Currently, I think we don't have any of this repeated pictures on the wiki. Question

Hello.

I was wondering, can I have no rename limitation without being an admin?

That's a bit boring to have to wait 2 minutes every two rename (especially for mass move like I am doing on Venture Co. -> Venture Co)

Thanks. IconSmall Hamuul Loremaster A'noob, Arch Druid of the Noobhoof Clan (talk/contribz) 11:26, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

When there's a mass move, such as a server page with subpages, you'll have to contact an admin who can move them all at the same time. --g0urra[T҂C] 12:18, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Crystal Pylon revert

I see you just reverted my merge of Crystal Pylon to Power crystals (with a very helpful edit summary of "Eh..no"). What you might have seen if you'd checked the edit history of the page prior to hitting the undo button is that I only created the page eight minutes previously, and the merge was performed when I discovered that there was already a very good article on the subject. There is no need to have two pages with exactly the same content on both, so I'm going to merge these again. If you're going to undo edits like that again, mind pinging me? Thumperward (talk) 15:02, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

The pylons aren't quite the same as the power crystals. The Crystal Pylon should mainly be about the pylons (obviously), so merge it with the power crystal article. There's also the "See also" section to be used to link to the crystal article. --g0urra[T҂C] 16:45, April 13, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but the point was that the existing crystal article already covers everything that the pylon article does. Having this material in two places is confusing and will likely result in one of them getting out of date. Until the material is split more sensibly, a merge is appropriate. A more friendly summary wouldn't have gone amiss either. Thumperward (talk) 15:27, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
It's very unlikely that they will go "out of date" since it hasn't been changed in a long time, and most likely won't change for a while either. --g0urra[T҂C] 16:48, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

Can you please stop reverting everything I do? Or I'll start reverting your edits as well... --User:ShandrisForever 11:23, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

You must be thinking I'm specifically targeting you for some reason. The reason I removed the icons from the new warlock abilities is because they haven't been announced to be the icons for them. Placing other icons would be misleading. The reason your edit on {{cata-inline}} is because that icon simply doesn't fit. If you look where the template it used, you'll see that it's way too big, and that the icon has already been voted. --g0urra[T҂C] 13:02, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

Spam page of Aerie Peak

Hello! I see you deleted the Spam page of Aerie Peak EU. The problem is the delete text is so long that I can't see the reason for why it was deleted. Could you please explain this to me?

Page wasn't finished and I think it's quite vital to add the spam page because it's an unique history of the realm. It's seen on youtube, official wow-eu forums and ofc when you search on google. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by McTerry (talk · contr).

Do explain why you think it's notable that a guild of level 1 players spammed a chat channel one day. I sure don't. --g0urra[T҂C] 14:59, April 16, 2010 (UTC)
One day? It happend 2 months. And all spammers are in the "FIX BLUTDURST" guild that still exist even if Blizzard officials gave some accounts a 3 day ban.
Stilla few players can be seen to this very day that logs in from time to time. And if you ask Aerie Peak players, you will see that this is something they want to be added.
It just makes it all something special, to be a part of something big. =) Also i should mention that raids had to be cancelled because of the lag, players couldn't log in or out from the game, spells ::couldn't be casted, people couldn't mount up. Everything was in chaos. And you think this is not important? bah! McTerry (talk · contr)
So there was a lag problem for some time, big deal. The spamming is probably (as I saw in a thread) because Aerie Peak is the first server alphabetically. I don't see how this is important nor how it is notable. Looking through the forums I saw 4 threads about it, and none of them were saying that they wanted an article on WoWWiki about it. --g0urra[T҂C] 15:22, April 16, 2010 (UTC)
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. That said, I endorse the deletion. --Sky (t · c) 15:29, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

Glyph templates

Inserting item templates is a good idea, but don't change the icons! Generic glyph icons have no use in templates like these since they all look alike. Replace the text-based link with item templates, but leave the images alone, like this:

Take a look: [1]. The idea behing the icons was to imitate other templates, like Template:Classfooter. :) Owoc (talk) 13:08, April 28, 2010 (UTC)
How can they be compared apart from that they both have icons? {{Classfooter}} doesn't need any variations, unlike the class glyph templates which needs to have the icons specified for every class temple. The name of the ability the glyphs affect should be enough - is it necessary to add those icons? --g0urra[T҂C] 13:27, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

Shard inventory/items

I was unsure if there were any items sold for Stone Keepers Shards that were also sold for other currency. Some Heirloom items can be purchased for either champion's seals or heroism emblems, if memory serves. I was just a little too lazy to go look up whether the shards had any items in common with other vendors. Thus, a vendor list, rather than an item list. There currently aren't any other shard vendors, but until 3.2.0 there weren't any other WG mark vendors, either. Just a caution. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:41, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Caution for... what? I'm not sure what you're asking. --g0urra[T҂C] 22:18, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
If I recall correctly, the heirlooms from the shards actually have slightly different stats than the emblem ones (the shard versions have PvP stats, including resilience). -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:20, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Caution = "I can't say for certain that the heirlooms you buy with shards are every one of them different from those you buy with emblems or whatnot". You may be more certain, yourself. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:01, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
There are no heirlooms that have different stats depending on what vendor it's bought - in fact all of the heirlooms are bought with either Stone Keeper's Shard, Emblem of Heroism or Champion's Seal. Take a look and you'll see that there are no versions of an heirloom with stats that varies depending on which vendor its sold by. --g0urra[T҂C] 00:01, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
My concern isn't that they're different, but that they're the same. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:39, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Demons Deck

I propose that this change be made: Inv misc ticket tarot stack 01 [Demons Deck] -> Inv misc ticket tarot stack 01 [Demons Deck] -> Demons Deck (quest item). The quest item is only of interest to (and shpeople on the quest, whereas the Starter is of greater interest for having been created by the individual cards, is tradeable, etc. Better, it follows the convention of every other darkmoon page currently existing.

I would propose that the quest item be rolled into the starter page for the same reason, but ... we've been through that before. So anyway, as this involves stomping on another page (IE the redirect for Demons Deck), it's not a change I can make myself. Can you please help me? :)

You left a comment on my user page when i created my Wowwiki-account where you offered your help :)

What im wondering is if you somehow can "merge" two articles (or delete the content on one and move it to the other-ish) to one? The articles im thinking of is the ones about Gryan Stoutmantle. It is one about the "original" Gryan in Sentinel Hill and one about the "new" Captain Gryan in Northrend (and I think there soon will be a third one about the "new original" Marshal Gryan who returns from Northrend to Sentinel Hill).

I think that is a bit confusing when it really is the same person. Know it is different NPCs, but other characters that appear on many places in the game just got one article describing the lore of that character, an example is probably Chronormu (Chromie).

Isnt this (please correct me if im wrong) mainly a site describing the lore of different characters, groups etc. in the Warcraft Universe, rather than a World of Warcraft database? :)

I could write one big article describing about him on one of his two current articles, but what should I do with the other one after that? I cant just delete everything on one of the pages, right? :P

I think it really should be one proper page describing the lore of that one person, but maybe other people likes it better the way it is today and im not allowed to do anything? I dont want to ruin anything for someone else.

Sorry for a long (and probably boring) post about something that may be obvious to you, or something that you maybe dont know anything about, but I dont really know who else to asks :(

Thanks!

(dont really know how to do those fancy links to your userpage, I guess you should tell me that to ;D)

Well, we are not a full database but we try to be as much as possible.
About characters in multiple places, we keep their title Captain/Marshal, to have a proper article (hp, location, quests) and to avoid overcharging the main one.
Hope it will help you :)

The pages you describe on Stoutmantle do need some expanding, but I'm not sure how much lore there is outside of what can be intuited from the quests. For the moment, to avoid ruffling feathers, you might expand the lore of Stoutmantle "as described by these quests" on the relevant page, and include a summary of the other pages under sections like on Gryan Stoutmantle. Once expanded, we can see if it would work better as a combined page, or perhaps as a page separate from the particular WoW appearances (ala Tirion Fordring). --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:05, August 3, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for replies! :) Ive expanded the Gryan Stoutmantle article now. I hope this is now acceptable :) I will probably do a similair expand to the Captain Gryan Stoutmantle article too, if this one turns out to be ok (if it gets reverted back to its original form, then I guess it wasnt :P ). Once again thank you for taking the time to help a new user like me! :)

It's good practice to have a physical list on the wiki in the mainspace. Having them on the the faction pages and such is certainly better practice than creating new pages for them. --Sky (t · c) 13:20, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Issue

Yeah, umm... as per the title. I wanted to visit the wiki today and since I had been inactve for a month or something I was logged out. So I came here, logged in, and instead of peing taken at Portal:Main, I was taken to Main. lulz @ phail O_o Is there something you can to about this? Does this happen to everyone? - JEA13 [iTalk] 15:08, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

New pages for old quests...

Can you possibly explain why it's necessary to create entire new pages when about 4 words have changed in any given quest? :/. Almost all of them are chained as they used to be, as well. --Sky (t · c) 22:45, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

You got any alternative? --g0urra[T҂C] 06:44, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, simply update the old page. If it's virtually the same quest (and several even have the same quest ID) I don't see any reason not to just update the page with patch notes. Although, given that they haven't changed YET, I don't see anything wrong with making a new page and then moving it to the old namespace when Cataclysm hits. For instance, it's what I have Elementium Bar (Cataclysm) and Elementium Ore (Cataclysm) prepped for. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 16:42, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
To start, see this set of edits.
For new other new things, I'd use {{c-inline}} combined with use of brackets or parentheses, such as in Ride to Thunder Bluff and its current quest chain. For quests changing in Cataclysm, I think it might also be prudent to add {{stub/Cataclysm}}, but I'm not sure how best where to do so. Probably the top of the article. --Sky (t · c) 16:56, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
I don't like the idea of starting new pages, as that increases our work (in particular, the admins' work), rather than decreases our work, down the line. --Sky (t · c) 16:56, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
My plan was to make those pages and update the quests once patch 4.0 goes live, or some time before that just to prepare. If you don't like the idea of updating them the way I intend to, then fine, but I will take that responsibility on the quest pages I make. --g0urra[T҂C]
Suit yourself. I'm not a fan of more work myself.
However, I would suggest in the future that you do not inaccurately tag quests as being added rather than simply changed, as is the case for Ride to Thunder Bluff (2) and I'm sure others as well. --Sky (t · c) 17:21, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, another thing: Make sure you undelete the quests that you end up deleting when you start moving quests around, so we can reference, if we wish, how the old quest looked (because that's something we can do that Wowhead and co. cannot). Look, even more work. *grin* --Sky (t · c) 17:23, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
I have the "Added" note in my quest boilerplate, it makes it easier for when I create new article. And did you honestly think I would delete the pages? There's something called "copy and paste". --g0urra[T҂C] 17:26, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Then you're going to delete the new articles, which could have edit history aside from your own (I doubt you'll check)? That goes against the spirit and letter of the license we work under. *shrug* --Sky (t · c) 17:30, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I will. I do not particularly care if an editor loses some edits toward their edit count. How else would you handle it? How would you convert a quest in the current Barrens that is updated completely with Cataclysm, including updated quest text, categories, quest givers/enders etc? I'd love to see you do that. *grin* --g0urra[T҂C] 17:35, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
You misunderstand me if you think I'm concerned for their edit count; I did not say that nor did I mean it, and I think you know that.
Current Barrens: Give me an example where you had to duplicate the quest, i.e., where the only thing in common between the current and the Cataclysm version is the name. --Sky (t · c) 18:03, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Just made one: Quest:Supplies for the Crossroads (2). --g0urra[T҂C] 18:11, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Quick Cataclysm question

Since your in beta, i'm wondering how on MMO-Champ, the guy has images of Twilight Highlands, i thought that wasn't testable yet. Hallowseve15 (talk) 20:03, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

You can only get there by an exploit. --g0urra[T҂C] 20:56, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

"Kindly state" and "why the fuck" in the same sentence is very contradicting. --g0urra[T҂C] 11:26, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

Cataclysm map work

Great work on the maps from the latest patch, 12759. I'm amazed about how much work Blizzard put into making new dungeon maps for all the old instances. By the way, there are new maps for the zones too, like Loch Modan and Strangelthorn Vale, Ungoro Crater, etc but I couldnt get all of them to convert properly. Any luck with those? We can cooperate here. --User:ShandrisForever 17:03, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

No, I haven't had any luck with the world map zones. --g0urra[T҂C] 17:06, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

so

i understand you might have made or created the entire page, but i dont see why you need to delete my edit? Its a true edit, no fooling. I didnt mean to mess with your article. I just wanted to enhance it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by PhosphorosC (talk · contr).

I didn't create it and it surely isn't "my article". Your edit is still saved in the article history.

Patch 12803

I have enGb EU client but when I launch the launcher nothing happens it shows the green bar with 100% as if there were no patch to download. how do I fix that? --User:ShandrisForever 00:46, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

You don't get it from the launcher. --g0urra[T҂C] 00:50, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
Did they change something? --User:ShandrisForever 01:09, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
Some added icons, renamed maps, added subzones to some. That's what I can see so far. --g0urra[T҂C] 01:13, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
No I mean in the patch functionality, why it's no longer possible to use the Launcher? --User:ShandrisForever 01:21, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
No, I just got the patch file by other means. I'm sure it will be available on the Launcher in due time. --g0urra[T҂C] 01:27, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

File name standardization schema

Gourra:

Several months ago, you advised me to be more specific in file names when uploading, yet today, you truncate the filename back down to what I was using before.

Please advise what standardization you want to use on this website, and where to locate such standardization guidelines so that I may use them for future uploads.

Ariule (talk)

I believe that describing the background and the race of the character is a bit too much
Just naming the file like the item (eventually followed numbers if we use multiple screens) seems fair enough.
IconSmall Hamuul Loremaster A'noob, Arch Druid of the Noobhoof Clan (talk/contribz) 21:54, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
When I was doing just the item name a year ago, I was informed that it was not enough, especially when other items of kit were in the image. In addition, several images were deleted due to the thought that I was using an offline image editor. Does WoWWiki have a file name standards page that people can follow? It would be helpful if there was.
Ariule (talk)
Provide the item names and I might remember them. --g0urra[T҂C] 23:55, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
I am unconcerned with the past file names, I am wishing to set a standard for moving forward.
Ariule (talk)
As A'noob said, naming the file like the item is enough. --g0urra[T҂C] 00:29, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
If I remember correctly, cause this has been a while... you were first naming them something like staff and dagger, very generic names like that. Then you were asked to be more precise with the names, which is why you starting naming them very precise names. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! Re: Your edit summary comment

As you said: A music video about gold farmers doesn't count.

... ... ...

[citation needed] --ENG (talk) 13:43, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

If you don't consider that a music video, then I don't know what to say. --g0urra[T҂C] 13:47, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
I mean about the part that it doesn't count. --ENG (talk) 13:58, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
A music video that jokes about gold farmers doesn't count as research about the subject. If you have a video about someone who has researched about the subject then go ahead, but a music video is not proper. --g0urra[T҂C] 14:02, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Rearranged many parts of the gold farming page, added some links to researcher sources. Still needs work. No comment on applicability of "music video" about gold farmers, though apparently Ge Jin has made documentary video (which I did not link to, but which may be available through the links I did add. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:54, August 31, 2010 (UTC)

Non-Enchanting Enchant Tooltip Syntax

While Enchantments with the type "Enchant", such as [Enchant Weapon - Icebreaker], display a proper tooltip when moused over, Enchants of all other professions (properly following nearly the same syntax on the Embroid template) display only "no tooltip" error on mouseover. So, Leatherworking's [Fur Lining - Stamina] or Blacksmithing's [Socket Bracer] generate no tooltip, although their template syntax seems to be correct.

Is there a different term or syntax on either the link or item page to make the mouseover tooltips display properly? I can't seem to find a recipe listing page where the Embroid type of tooltip works correctly. Thanks! Joeartguy (talk) 21:00, September 2, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Pcj is the guy'd want to talk with about this. --g0urra[T҂C] 21:06, September 2, 2010 (UTC)

"The" Deadmines

In light of the request on the to-do page to move all of the pages that were in Category:Deadmines to Category:The Deadmines, do you think the actual pages for Deadmines and Deadmines (original) should be moved/renamed to follow this standard?  gilmoreja—You've got to start what you finish—Talk!on!—You've got to start what you finish—Sareine talks—You've got to start what you finish— 16:10, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
