The city today.

Capital City[1] (also known as Lordaeron,[2][3]Template:Cite, Capital City of Lodaeron, Lordaeron City,[citation needed]  or the City of Lordaeron[citation needed] ) was the capital city of the Kingdom of Lordaeron. The city was built by the Arathor at the height of their power, and became the city-state and capital of a kingdom based in Tirisfal Glades that emerged after the fall of the Arathorian Empire.

Its original founders were the aristocratic of the Arathor nation, who had grown weary of worldly attachments such as possessions and power. These noblemen and lords founded a city in which they could pursue a spiritual life hoping to find a higher calling. Thus, Lordaeron was founded. The city was first an industrial centre for the nation, but later, most of the industries were moved east to the new cities of Stratholme and Andorhal, so Lordaeron became solely an administrative centre and was largely remodeled as a wonder of human architecture.

The city was the center of the Alliance of Lordaeron during the Second War, and so prospered as the effective capital of humanity. The city watched as the industrial regions of Lordaeron were overrun by plague, and when Arthas killed his father King Terenas II, the last true king of Lordaeron, the city fell into turmoil.

The city endured until the undead Scourge swarmed the city, led by Falric and Marwyn, killing the residents. Ever after, the city would be known as the Ruins of Lordaeron.

After the brief Plagueland civil war, Sylvanas Windrunner won back the underground parts of the city as well as the Tirisfal Glades from the scourge. Undercity stands as the capital of the Undead.
