The Boulderfist clan is a clan[1] (or a tribe)[2] of ogres that live throughout the Arathi Highlands in Azeroth and Nagrand in Outland.

Their main bases on Azeroth include Boulder'gor and Boulderfist Hall; they also controlled a significant portion of Stromgarde Keep before its retaking by Alliance forces.

On Outland, a large contingent of Boulderfist ogres roam throughout Nagrand (clefts of Halaa, Burning Blade Ruins, and the hills northwest of Kil'sorrow Fortress) and parts of Terokkar Forest (Bleeding Hollow Ruins). Their leader is a half-orc half-draenei quest giver named Lantresor of the Blade. A six-part quest chain involves Lantresor and either the Telaar or Mag'har settlement, depending on your faction.

History[]

During the forming of the Old Horde, the Blackrock orcs captured three members of Krol's clan and convinced them to hold council with their leader. Krol, promised protection from the gronn, as well as a new "enemy" called the draenei in which to kill, quickly agreed and formed an alliance with Orgrim Doomhammer, who had been sent there by Blackhand.[3] Krol then joined the Old Horde with his followers.[4]

Parts of the Boulderfists crossed the Dark Portal before or during the Second War and started living in the Arathi Highlands ever since.[5]

After the destruction of Draenor, the Boulderfists who had remained on the planet settled in Nagrand, and had dominion over all ogres in the new Outland. Recently, Krol has gone mysteriously missing and a new clan, the Warmaul, have begun forcing his clan out of their lands. The cunning half-orc Lantresor of the Blade has stepped up and taken leadership of the clan.[4]

Items[]

Culture[]

  • Preferring to show off their physique, ogres eschew garments that cover too much skin. In order to look more fearsome to their enemies, they adorn their bodies with warpaints created in these grinding tools. The Boulderfist clan favors yellow.[6]
  • Boulderfist legend recounts a cloud of carrion birds following ogre warriors through the Dark Portal during the Second War; it may be that all two-headed scavengers in Azeroth are their descendants.[7]

Notes and trivia[]

  • Rise of the Horde never mentioned that Krol was a member of the Boulderfist clan. It was the H [15-30] Success! quest which explained it.
  • Though unseen, the Boulderfist clan also exists on alternate Draenor, where it is said that the first great technological innovation in ogre society was the concept of attaching a rock to the end of a very long stick to smash your enemies, rather than attempting to bash them with a rock held in your hand. The schism this innovation created amongst ogre society resolved itself only when a now-forgotten tribe broke into the Warmaul and Boulderfist clans.[8]
  • One of the realms in World of Warcraft is named after the Boulderfist clan.
