Windrunner Village is a village that lies in the shadow of the great Windrunner Spire to the south, in the Ghostlands. Both the village and the spire are named after the famous Windrunner family. It is now haunted by gargoyles and shades of the high elves from their past.
During the burning of Quel'Thalas, the village came under attack from the Old Horde and their Amani troll allies. They slaughtered most of the elves there, including civilians, Farstriders, and even Lirath Windrunner who had been secretly training there. After the Horde retreated, Sylvanas Windrunner arrived and discovered the dead.[1]
