Bear Flank is an important stepping stone to leveling cooking. For cooks who neither fish nor have access to holiday recipes, Bear Flank-based dishes are the only practical means of leveling Cooking from 250 to 285. The most feasible alternative is to cook dozens of 
[Tender Wolf Steak] to reach 275, then visit Dire Maul for both the recipe and materials to make 
[Runn Tum Tuber Surprise]. Given the lack of alternatives, and given that few bears are found in the Eastern Kingdoms, where most Alliance characters do their leveling, Bear Flanks are among the most expensive cooking ingredients in the game.

This item can be looted from most level 35-60 bear mobs.
A good place to farm this is from Angerclaw Maulers in Felwood[42, 64] and Felwood[38, 44]. The drop rate is very good and there's a group of about 20 bears here spaced close together. Bear Flanks can also be gathered from bears in Feralas, Winterspring, and Western Plaguelands.
