This is a quest chart of a theoretical future revision of the Arathi Highlands, primarily documenting the Horde and Alliance military campaigns in the area. The horde quest line begins, chronologically, slightly earlier than the Alliance chain, but both end with the same event: the Battle for Stromgarde, which ends in an Alliance victory on both sides. This leads to a "line in the sand" being drawn at Thoradin's Wall; Forsaken forces remain on the border's western side, in Hillsbrad, while the Alliance begin amassing forces in the west, in Arathi.

===Summary===
  +
  +
Players will meet with Commander Trueheart at Forward Camp Valorborne, just across the Thandol Span from Dun Modr. The camp is filled with Stormwind infantry, who have been cut off from the Highlands by a sudden Forsaken invasion. A forsaken base in the cliff is threatening enough currently to prevent them from charging the blockade, and their blight has also proved to be an intimidating obstacle.
  +
  +
First, players will work alongside Doctor Bridgewell to gather venom from the nearby Stonecreeper spiders and use it to expunge the blight from the afflicted soldiers' bodies. They'll also assemble a complete jawbone of a Sheartalon raptor to help the doctor develop more resistant armor padding, and finally use his finished concoction to burn away the blighted gas encroaching on the camp.
  +
  +
Next, adventurers will join Prospector Stouthammer in exploring the now-haunted ruins to the east, gathering mysterious runestones that point to the trapped spirit of a, strangely enough, human shaman. After helping Stouthammer free the spirit, the pieces begin to fall into place regarding the purpose and origin of Arathi's ruins: the first proto-human settlements outside of Northrend.
  +
  +
Finally, Commander Trueheart will go behind enemy lines to sabotage the forsaken's Cliffside Outpost, knocking out their snipers and soldiers while disabling their blight spreaders. Once this has been accomplished, the forsaken general is quietly assassinated before the front lines are charged and the blockade is broken, opening the way to Refuge Pointe.

WorldMap-Arathi

Zone map

This is a quest chart of a theoretical future revision of the Arathi Highlands, primarily documenting the Horde and Alliance military campaigns in the area. The horde quest line begins, chronologically, slightly earlier than the Alliance chain, but both end with the same event: the Battle for Stromgarde, which ends in an Alliance victory on both sides. This leads to a "line in the sand" being drawn at Thoradin's Wall; Forsaken forces remain on the border's western side, in Hillsbrad, while the Alliance begin amassing forces in the west, in Arathi.

Both sides have access to a sidequest through which the history of humanity and their progenitors is explored, and the mystery behind the titan Myzrael and the elemental binding circles is finally uncovered.

Physical changes to the region wrought by the Cataclysm include:

  • The mountain ranges on either side of the Thandol Span's northern end have been shattered. A much larger valley lies between them, and their peaks are more easily traversed. Alliance quest hub Forward Camp Valorborne has been established in the valley with a flight point, while the forsaken have set up a base of their own among the western cliffs to cut off reinforcements from Stormwind and Khaz Modan.
  • Faldir's Cove has been conquered by the forsaken, and renamed Blightcaller's Landing after the forsaken blight was used on the area. It is now a Horde quest hub with a flight point.
  • The mountain range southeast of Hammerfall has broken down to reveal a number of twisting canyons granting passage to the coast, where a massive Alliance naval hub, Steelgarde Bay, has been constructed.
  • The Witherbark forest trolls have been been convinced to join the Horde. Though they're lost a great deal of territory in the Alliance assault, their villiage still manages to function as a Horde quest hub and flight point.
  • The butte due north of Stromgarde has been fortified by the Alliance as Trollbane's Pinnacle, and is now an Alliance quest hub and flight point.
  • Large portions of Thoradin's Wall have collapsed, though the main gate is still intact.
