Arcane Explosion is a point blank area of effect spell that deals arcane damage to all enemies within 10 yards of the caster. It is used most often to quickly kill many weak enemies. It is often abbreviated as "AE".

Talent improvement
The talent [Arcane Impact] will increase the critical strike chance of this spell by up to 6% at max rank. Arcane Blast deals Arcane damage, thus it is affected by the talents [Arcane Subtlety], which reduces threat caused, and [Arcane Focus], which reduces the chance the spell can be resisted.
As with all mage spells capable of critical hits [Arcane Instability], Spell Power, [Molten Fury], [Playing with Fire] and [Shatter] can increase the effective damage output of this spell.
Notes
Even though it is instant, the practical casting time is limited by the Universal Cooldown.
The 5 pc. set bonus from the Netherwind Regalia set will increase the radius of the spell by 25%, for a 12.5 yd radius.
Tips and tactics
This spell is very popular (even more so when fully upgraded by talents). In instances especially, there are often groups of small non-elites either alone or surrounding a "leader" elite. Some instance groups bring a mage along solely to quickly deal with these pests. You won't mind being pigeonholed this way... it's both fun and a challenge to test your ability to stay alive.
You can use this spell to "ping" for stealthed enemies, such as a Rogue or Druid. Repeatedly casting the Rank 1 version is a cheap way to force them out of stealth with damage, provided they are within 10 yards of you and they don't resist. This isn't likely to succeed if the rogue is much higher than you, such as you might meet out in the killing fields. [Blizzard] is also similarly useful.
This is used by higher level characters for farming instances for friends, and game friends usually. It can be used for other farming purposes as well.
Past changes
Prior to Patch 1.11 the spell had a base cast of 1.5 seconds and could only be made instant cast through a talent, [Improved Arcane Explosion]. This talent was replaced with [Arcane Impact] and the base cast time of Arcane Explosion was made instant for all mages.
